Can't see it myself. He looked a complete donkey everytime he was facing goal. He took the wrong option time after time.

Modeste is a complete and utter donkey !!!!

It is obvious that the owners are happy to relegate us ...The transfer window activity says it all to me ...

I thought we were reasonable in the first half and enjoyed the game till then. For the first 35 of the second half we were awful and then had a little flurry towards the end. It's true we spent a lot of time in Newcastle's half but they let us do that. I'm pretty sure Pardew told his players Rovers can't create real chances and have no midfield so defend and time-waste all you can and we'll probably nick it.

Had Nelsen or Samba played we would have won the ball Dann almost ran away from for the first goal. Dunn's penalty effort was abysmal, the moment he did a little shuffle and tried to be clever I knew he'd miss. I'd ask Givet to take them.

For me the cock ups by Dann and Dunn hugely influenced the outcome of this match and those two players must take a large part of the responsibility for the defeat.

I don't understand those who say we battered Newcastle, they let us play a bit that's all.

Apparently the Premier League are going to look back at the games so far this season and reinstate us points for bad luck.

Until someone points out who our manager is and they all stop, laugh and go back to their cigars.

Gary Player once said: " The harder I practice, the luckier I get". Well with Kean, the harder he works, the unluckier he gets!

You shouldn't have to put up with that Glen, tell the police who will be able to have a look at the CCTV. You know that if it was you throwing the punches, the club would be telling the other party to press charges.

TypicalBirdie, blue and White blood in his viens but as thick as ########. He cannot accept an alternative view to his may exist. Glen, report him to the Police.

Two things - one, why does Kean constantly come out with tripe like 'Samba will be back in for Newcastle', when he knew it was very unlikely? God we need him, I'd love to hear from Brum fans why they thought Dann was the dogs nuts - he's pathetic.

Second, for those moaning about luck, I think it's fair to say that Newcastle still owe us for the run of handball victories on Tyneside.

Last night just had the feel that we're nailed on relegated.

Newcastle were there for the taking. We played some decent stuff first half an should have been at least level at half time.

Second half Kean was done tactically again. They removed Ben Arfa at half time and strengthened the middle, sat back and waited for the break. Please note Kean, in the last ten mins Newcastle were keeping 2 players near the centre circle, not all behind the ball defending!!!

What did we do second half? Reduced the width and tried to go through the middle. Kean waited too long to change things and even then, Formica wasn't the right choice. Can anyone tell me what the problem is with Simon? The guy is experienced and can unlock defences, why the hell is he being kept on the bench - is it financial?

We also lacked Samba's presence at set pieces - another conundrum. If Samba's 'head' isn't right and he refuses to play etc, holding on to him will have been a waste of time, when we could have reinvested the money. If he sorts things out, he's our only hope of survival. Only time will tell

It wasn't our worst performance at home last night (there have been plenty to choose from) but given our little run of results this is the most important - the momentum has gone. History (and kean's record) suggests we will now lose the next 3-4 games.

Our squad is thread bare, we have very little experience/quality on the bench. Yes it's Venkys fault but we need to vary our tactics/formnations a bit more.

Thought Modeste had a decent debut (shooting aside, he could be a very useful foil for Yakubu.

Would love to see us go 4-4-2 against QPR with Simon and Hoilett on the wings, Yakubu, modeste up front. Also if this lad Orr has been bought to play, get him in at right back ASAP

Not sure bringing his house into matters was really the right way to go?

If someone had spent what looks like a significant amount of time throwing punches at me, I don't really think I'd care what I posted about them to be honest.

some of you hu have to realise the quote below sums up tonight:

Basically the lack of investment cost us tonight, we had a freebie striker upfront and it showed, if money had been spent on a proper striker then we would've won the game.

for all the good modeste does he is not a goalscorer and can no way play the lone striker well yes he holds the ball up well but the only thing that matters is being able to put the ball in the back of the net and I have to say throughout this sorry episode venkys have always opted for the cheapest option and today highlighted this by the way B75 they said goodwillie was ill but in a way you have to feel a bit sorry for kean because before the window opened he did earmark Andy Johnson,Maynard, and others I mean a while back we were linked with the Russian Pogrebnyak now he's gone to Fulham for 3M even the Ajax striker was available for peanuts and you have to feel sorry because I get the impression he wanted to go back in for Johnson at 1.5-2M he would have been a steal but obviously the owners put the breaks on any strikers worth money even Cisse at 4M at QPR was a bargain I only hope their penny pinching does not cost us our EPL status but equally he does not help himself by not keeping us in the picture about having 5 live bids out there having money to spend and I do feel with an Andy Johnson picking up Modeste's flick ons we would have got something from the game maybe even won it.

You don't have to feel sorry for kean - Andy Johnson would not score goals in the loan striker role, Maynard is a championship strker. Pogrebnyak is quality but we were linked with him under Allardyce.

Kean has constantly come out and said he's been backed in the market, that he's got the players he wanted. If that's true, then his signings/idea of players are appalling. If it isn't then the spineless git should stand up and say so.

Kean is as culpable as Venkys. A quality manager would keep us up with the squad we have.

In the second half we saw exactly why Pardew is up at the top and Kean is down at the bottom ... The ability to adapt. 1st half Olsson and Hoilett murdered Simpson due to the fact Ben Arfa wasn't pulling his weight (sound abit like Salgado at the start of the season?!) and tracking back, Pardew made a simple change and it blew apart our creative game. Hoofball was resumed, Dunn who I must say was also pulling the strings in the 1st was completely cut out of the game due to the ball mainly being in the air or waiting in Krul's hands for 30 seconds a time.

Last night I thought we were damn unlucky but now I just think how did we let a patched up Newcastle side beat us, why wasn't their any plan B again? Pace bothered them, Olsson and Hoilett bothered them, Hoilett could have gone on the right, Olsson on the left with Hanley coming on at CB and Givet going to LB to stretch them but nope, good old hoofball! Talk about a poor transfer window all we want but we had a team there at Ewood last night that should have beaten Newcastles weakest team of the season.

Saw the whole thing during the 2nd half with 'Mullen' (as it says on the back of his yellow t-shirt)

It lasted about 30 seconds to a minute, not 5 minutes, and BUT for his wife, Birdie probably would have smacked him. Thats not the right thing to do, or fair, but not everyone agrees with 'in-game protests'.

Adding personal things like house sales (whats wrong with getting what you can for what you owe?) is bound to get you some grief from an irrate fan.

To be fair to Birdy, he is anything but happy with what is going on.

Not sure bringing his house into matters was really the right way to go?

Correct

Hanley or a non-sulking Samba HAS to come in for Dann at Arsenal, he is a liability, not just for their goal but the whole match he was dreadful. Hanley was in really good form and confident.

Spot on - Dann was crap and has been so far, apart from the odd game. Why, why, why has Hanley been dropped after such an impressive spell in the team?!

Onto the game - I thought we were unlucky, however Pedersen & Dann were awful in my opinion.

Modeste looked good, but to eager to please (and wanted the penalty), but a decent debut as the loan man.

Newcastle showed last night that they are riding the wave of confidence as no-way did they deserve 3 points from that.....we need to quickly pick up another win or it will go to a straight fight between us & Bolton.

Unlucky? Simply not good enough.

Yes we have a squad that could keep us in what is the worst Premier League since it started in 1992. Unfortunately we have the worst manager in the Premier League.

I have been resigned to relegation since September. There is no way we are staying up. Last night was yet again the end of another 'false dawn'. Yes we will win the odd game before the end of the season but there will be no sustained run of wins that will guarantee safety.

Once again Kean was out thought by the opposition manager.

Got to say I don't see the relevance of that either and seems slightly inflammatory obviously birdy is in the wrong here but that's not helping matters.

Glen can post what he likes on here, my point is, that at the ground, bringing someones house into an arguement and saying he ripped off Jack Walker is going to get someones back up, is it not?

Yes it is. One might want to ask why the matter was even raised?

Sounds like the guy had already kicked off on Glen before that was even mentioned, but yeah I agree it would just provoke someone more to bring that stuff up.

Pretty sad state of affairs that these things are happening in the first place.

As for the game, I thought Rovers played well. Couldn't make it unfortunately as i've been ill the last couple of days, watched the first half online but I knew where it was heading by half time so decided not to watch the 2nd half at all. You can't fault the players for effort you really can't, but the bottom line is we've lost I think 5 home games that we should have definately all won, and this is where Rovers will get relegated. We don't have enough home games left that I think the team is capable of winning, and I don't think we'll be seeing any surprise wins away at the likes of Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea.

Personally i'd say its between us and Bolton in a straight fight for 17th as I think Wigan are gonners and Wolves are not far off.

QPR being the next home game I can't see anything better than a draw, the lack of no midfield general means Joey Barton will run the show.

Glenn comes across as trying to get a nice pat on the back and sympathy, Your protests and ideas on the club arnt shared by everyone you should expect this sort of thing off certain people and sort it out 'in house'.

But saying that its not right for someone to threaten someone else with violence.

But thats nowhere near some of the abuse ive heard from your protest group about Steve Kean or Venkys.

We were much the better team. Dominated, moved the ball well, looked far more dangerous, worked hard, should have scored three or four goals. Really if you look across the team we played well.

But, like so many other games before, we have not turned good performances into wins. Sad. I am not sure what the answer is short of sacking Kean and getting a top class manager in. That isn’t going to happen. In terms of actual performances Since the Utd game have played the best football we have since the days of Hughes. Dominating possession, territory and shots. Yet we still don’t get the three points.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't recall anyone throwing a punch at Kean.

I think the only way we are going to get rid of Kean and the Venkys is to get out of the Premier League. Whilst they think they can still get some returns on their outlay and some publicity they will hang around and ergo so will Kean.

Therefore, whilst I can't bring myself to actually want us to lose, this is probably the best result for the long term future of the club.

If we are still in the Premier League next season, and let's face it looks like we won't get 30 pts never mind 40 so it's very unlikely, all that will hapeen is more debt will be piled on to the club making it even more unlikely we will find a buyer and potentially killing the club altogether, as well as alienating even more fans.

Onwards and downwards I suppose.
