Commondore Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 A generally trustworthy and well connected Swedish football site reports that Martin Olsson's 23 year old twin broter Marcus had a trial at Rovers last week and today completed a medical. He's a winger/striker with strengths akin to his brother, meaning pace and a good engine. His team Halmstad got relegated from the Swedish top division last year, and while the source says Blackburn has been following him for a long time he hasn't exactly set the world on fire in Sweden, scoring 10 goals in 70 appearances for Halmstad since 2008. He was selected to play for Swedens national B-team during their traditional January friendly tournament, which is supposed to have swayed Rovers into signing him... To be honest I haven't seen him play that much, but I seriously doubt he's good enough to play in the Premier League and he really doesn't strike me as the type of player we need. Another Julio Santa Cruz type signing perhaps?

Damien Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 When hoilet leaves, who else will keep Martin company... All I'm saying is it could be a way to keep Martin happy!

Hopefully not another development player to help keep up the squad numbers
neophox Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Could be a fantastic signing, who knows?!!! Im off to Teneriffa!! Good Luck Rovers on wednesday against Newcastle! Agent confirms Olsson signing for Rovers. http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/fotboll/internationell/england/article14291432.ab
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Seen a couple of u-tube clips - hard to judge a player on this, but looks similar to his brother - pacy and direct.
Josh Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 He had a trial when Martin did, I can't see what would have changed since then to make us sign him now
Stuart Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 He had a trial when Martin did, I can't see what would have changed since then to make us sign him now
Drover Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Is that the photo of mrs desai that Steve keans been blackmailing her with in that safe?
Puffsan Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 remember he's still only 23 and can develop alot more. Atleast now we've got coverage when martin is injured the swedish article says 2 serie A clubs + standard Liege were also interested, and he's knocking on the door to the swedish national team so he's not talentless
moerpho Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Could it be that Martin is looking to bolster his bankaccount? I.e. doing some photoshopping and making Venky's sign his "twin"? Can see it on the trainingground: Kean/Black: Hey, Martin! Where's your brother? Martin: Just one second - I'll just pop around the corner and look for him. *15 secs later* Martin: Hi, Boss! Kean/Black: There you are. Now where did you're brother go? Martin: To the toilet..... Funny thing is Venky's would probably fall for it
Steve Moss Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 When Martin is banned due to yellow or red cards, then his identical twin can step in. Trust us, it's the right Olsson.
davulsukur Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 SSN Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of Martin Olsson's twin brother Marcus, according to the player himself.
otto man Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 He had a trial when Martin did, I can't see what would have changed since then to make us sign him now He's been bought for spare parts!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 So if a big club comes in for Martin Olsson, do we just flog them Marcus Olsson instead?
True Blue & White Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Does this mean they'll both have to have their full names on the back of their shirts? Usually they'd just initialise it but they are both 'M.Olsson'
oreilly Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 free transfer on very little money i assume so no harm, when Hoilett is gone tonight someone has to pal around the Martin!!

Hughesy Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Swedish international, hopefully similar to player to his brother - welcome to the Rovers
Bigdoggsteel Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 seems like a good bit of business. Very confusing for the right side of opposition teams...
LeChuck Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 Swedish international, hopefully similar to player to his brother - welcome to the Rovers Weren't they "B" squads? Couple of videos: Seems to have many similar attributes to Martin in those videos.
Clitherover Posted January 31, 2012 Posted January 31, 2012 I hope he's better than Julio Santa Cruz. Haha, I knew someone would have mentioned that as soon as I saw the thread topic.
