purplegrover Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Steve Kean fighting back me thinks http://www.google.com/3839-fit_ready_and_unable_to_play.html Trying to be tough, like Mancini did with Tevez ? Difference is, we don't have the depth in the squad to be able to do that.
Stuart Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Kean is doing his level best to make Samba public enemy number 1. Don't waste your time Steve, you will always have that title.
dave birch Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Time for some A4 Signs "One Chris Samba" "Samba In Kean Out"
Gav Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Same with Salgado and Nelson, all fit and ready to play but Kean wouldn't play them and told everyone they're injured. As someone said to me the other day, "Every time Kean moves his lips he tells lies"
John Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Interesting to note Kean's wording. I am prepared to say....
thenodrog Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I hesitate to use the word 'strike' but Samba's digging his heels in methinks. Cue a Harley St specialist issuing sick note after sick note for a difficult to diagnose back injury until the end of the season. The other side of the Ryan Nelsen coin perhaps?
Hughesy Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Fair play - he wasnt '100% to play', so he can sit it out and think about his actions abit longer.....being a spoiled brat doesnt always work. Get him back in v QPR after he has spent another game at home.
Bobby G Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I cant understand how some people are turning this into a Samba vs Kean thing. This isnt. Kean has nothing to do with Samba's decision. He isnt the enemy in this one instance. Also, if people think Samba wants to leave cause of "broken promises", dont forget the other windows before this when he'd make similar noises, even before Venkys came on-board. For me its a convenient excuse. He has disgraced himself in my eyes, especially by saying he cant give 100% which is a blatant lie. His team-mates couldve used him against Newcastle. Shameful.

Do you think Samba would be kicking up such a fuss if we were in the top half of the league?

Spot on
cn174 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 A Chris Samba who doesn't give a toss in the team is better than Scott Dann. If we were in a position to be taking the moral high ground then fair enough, but we're really not. We need him to play. Samba would've made a difference on Wednesday, and would've made a difference tomorrow. We're paying the bloke £1.5m before the end of the season, we might as well get him to do some work for it and maybe, just maybe, it will give us a better chance.
Bobby G Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Cant argue with you there. Dann is average at BEST! No wonder none of the hyped up sides the media said wanted him moved for him last summer.
LDRover Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Dogsh1t Dann is ,aside from Bruno and Myles, the worst defender we have. The way the great Shola Ameobi turned him in the box on Wednesday night was truly abysmal defending. Samba with his head up his backside is more use than this no mark.

It's more Samba vs Venkys more than anything, after his comments in the press about broken promises.
Parsonblue Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Fair play - he wasnt '100% to play', so he can sit it out and think about his actions abit longer.....being a spoiled brat doesnt always work. Get him back in v QPR after he has spent another game at home. And what makes you think he's going to give 100 per cent? The treatment of Nelsen, Salgado and Roberts in recent weeks has been nothing short of disgraceful. After supporting this club for 50 years I feel ashamed of its actions in recent times and can fully understand why players, who don't have the same attachment to clubs as supporters, should feel no loyalty to the club. Nelsen put his body on the line at Villa when he volunteered to play when clearly no fit but felt a duty to the club. Now he is shown the door when it suits owners who are simply intent on reducing expenditure at all costs. I fear my beloved club is in the gutter.
forumquizmaster Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I fear my beloved club football is in the gutter. Corrected for you.
Parsonblue Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Corrected for you. Not all football. Last week I enjoyed a thoroughly entertaining game at Accrington between Stanley and Gillingham. The quality of the football was good, the banter amongst supporters was great and two sets of players gave everything for 90 minutes without an ego in sight.
s_simpson_9 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 That's it isn't it. Football has gone to pot. I am so frustrated by it all. Not just us. Glaziers go away. Roman go away. Randy learner and his villa tattoo - go away. Premier league .. championship .. go away. All the money - go away. I might grab another beer.
Stuart Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Samba may now feel that there is no hope of him playing for a top PL club - ever. Give 100%, don't give 100%, it doesn't matter. Much like the fans feel that there is no hope of Rovers being a top 10 PL club again - ever. Protest, don't protest, it doesn't matter. Both situations are intrinsically linked and are both completely of Venkys making - with Kean supporting their position - and they are now trying to take a moral high ground. Priceless.
RibbleValleyRover Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Well if it ends up that he doesn't play for the rest of the season either due to refusing to play or Kean refusing to pick him then we are going to look stupid for not taking the money in January.
USABlue Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I wonder how Samba feels about Nellie going to Spurs, the team Samba was hoping to go to. Bloody funny in my book.
winstonsmith Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I hesitate to use the word 'strike' but Samba's digging his heels in methinks. Cue a Harley St specialist issuing sick note after sick note for a difficult to diagnose back injury until the end of the season. The other side of the Ryan Nelsen coin perhaps? According to Kean, Samba is not refusing to play nor is he feigning injury and it is his (Kean's) decision not to include him in the squad despite Samba being fit and available to play. I think Annie has told Kean to leave Samba out in the cold as punishment until he is seen to toe the line.
krypton1980 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I understand why Samba felt he had to do what he did - and why he wanted to leave (and has wanted to for 2 years), but he went about it in the wrong way. Throwing a tantrum to engineer a move in the way he did and more damningly his statement of "not being able to give 100% if called upon" put him in a bad light with most Rovers fans. Add to that other clubs looking at him then thinking that if he was willing to do that to one club why should they risk him doing that to them at some point in the future. At the same time can we really afford to pay him 60k a week to train with the reserves? Man City might be able to with Tevez but we can`t. If hes fit and available then he has to be included in the squad otherwise what was the point of keeping hold of him? If Mrs Desai`s only reason not to sell was to teach Samba a lesson and make a stand then she has revealed that even after all this time she does not understand the slightest thing about football. Just think if we had Samba on the bench against Newcastle then he could have been thrown on in the second half - how many of those chances that Dann missed would Samba have got his head to (and even scored)? How many times was the ball crossed in but nobody attacked it? It could have been a different story.
