[Archived] If new owners take over, I'll promise to .....

I'm working on a long (probably very controversial) blog post and I needed an example of how we can make thing better for new owners.

So, here is a pledge thread. What do you currently do (or don't do) that you'd not do (or do) if new owners took over. Will you attend more games, spend more in the shop, renew your 500 club members, get your mates to renew etc etc?

I'll start by pledging to do a full season of away games.

I'd say the pledge would work in reverse.

I pledge to stop my plans to:

- Not renew my season ticket

- Not by any further merchandise in the shop

- Not by any programmes

I'm not sure our new owners would benefit from your pledge about away matches, would they?

Btw, are you going to reveal your FF thing you mentioned a couple of weeks back?

I would start to spend money in the club shop again. I've two nephews who won't get any Rovers merchandise for the foreseeable future. And there's loads I'd like to buy.

I would also spend money on the concourse again. It's not a massive amount of money in comparison to other revenue streams - but I probably spend about £500 over the course of a season on merchandise and food/beverages.

...Return to buying club merchandise (this is the first season I havent bought kits etc).

...Do everything possible to get the money together to go to Ewood and cheer on a team I can feel proud to support again.

...Never take for granted what responsible owners bring to my team.

i was gonna buy 3 shirts this year. but as things happened i decided to set the money aside and wait for venkys to take action or new owners to come in.

So my pledge is if new owners come in i will buy at least 3 rovers shirts, and i pledge i will buy a plane ticket to go see my first rovers game ever in the 2012/2013 season

I'd buy my wife and daughter a season ticket each as well as mine.

Just one point through Glenn, do the club actually make anything on away games? Would attending them really hell the new owners??

As far as I'm aware away clubs only make money from ticket sales in league cup and FA cup games..

If clubs don't make a bean from away games then why do they have to agree ticket prices? It would just be a case of home teams say its x amount and away team has to put up with it?

Surely there's a % for both teams? Obviously the higher % going to the home team?

- I'd start spending money on merch, such as kits, again

- I'd start flying over twice a year and watch home matches, like I did pre-Venky's, and spend a king's ransom in the club shop

- I'd subscribe to the Rovers player @ rovers.co.uk

Not a lot, tbh, but overseas supporters have fewer options.

I thought that was just for cup games.

Although there have been some agreed prices in the PL, it's historically been done locally. By having reciprocal agreements with the likes of Wigan and Bolton, we can help each other to swell the attendances. Which, incidentally, I think have been scrapped now.

My husband is retiring and season tickets, since we miss about 4 or 5 home games because of holidays, are low on our list of priorities as we don't know how much money we'll have. However, provided we could afford the prices we'd be so delighted to see new owners, which would presumably mean a new manager too, that we'd make a point of renewing our tickets. Like many others we'd also get back to spending in the store, on the concourse on programmes etc etc etc. couldn't promise to do anything else but would try to attend more away games as we used to do a couple of seasons ago not that the club benefits financially, but they do benefit from our support of the team. would be nice to get back a sense of pride in following Rovers in whatever league instead of being the joke team.

The problem I have is I refused to hurt the club to get at the owners or manager, so I haven't really stopped doing much. But somebody mentioned Rovers Player, so yes, I'll add that to the list.

I think this has to do more with fair pricing policy, i.e. having similar, if not the same prices for away sections as for home sections of the stadium, preventing clubs from, say charging more for certain away fans, such as ManU or Arsenal.

Back on topic, I would promise to buy an official TV package to see all matches, and would subscribe for the very first time to all of Rovers official premium web services, such as Rovers Player, etc...plus I would make it a family tradition to make it over for at least one home match every year.

I could even be pursuaded to buy an absentee season ticket and run mini competitions on this or another site for my seat every week :)
