People seem to be automatically assuming that Kean is the liar in this particular episode. Much as I despise him generally, I think Samba also has some questions to answer. The first one being, "would you like to lie on this scanner while we check out the damage to your hamstring?"

It isn't the first time he's pulled a sickie is it?

Are you having a complete laugh, or just trying to wind people up? Samba has never made a statement himself that he was sick - that statement came from the Club through Kean. Exactly like this statement did. How about the questions Kean has to answer, the first one being, "Would you like to repeat Samba's fitness and availability situation again, this time hooked up to this nifty lie detector?"

Wake up! Every single time Kean/Venkys have lied about player being injured, they have NEVER played again for the club - Salgado, Roberts, Nelsen, have I missed anyone? What galls even more this time is the fact that this player should DEMAND a place in our starting eleven under normal circumstances, plus the fact that he cannot be offloaded until the end of the season anyway. There has to be a contract clause or something else that is going on that is making the Venkys not want him to play another game until it is sorted.

Our squad seems to be being picked from above based on financial factors, and Kean is just allowed to choose from a list of players approved from above. Really sad states of affairs - Anyone who is trying to paint Samba a villain here is just drinking Venkys Koolaid. All IMHO of course :)

Right, so I criticise/question Samba and it makes me a WUM or a Kean/Venkys supporter? The quality of debate on this messageboard is as high as ever I see.

Ever considered that it is possible to have more than one bad guy in a situation?

Kean is a disgrace. Samba is too. I obviously don't know the truth of the matter or what goes on behind the scenes, but I did quite clearly see and hear what the so-called captain of the club I have supported for the best part of 50 years said at the point he was handing in his transfer request.

Do you think Samba gives a flying fig about anyone other than himself?

As I said yesterday, it just shows how low we have become as a club when our supporters are actually defending the actions of a spoilt brat who is earning more in a week than most of us earn in a year!

The fans deserve proof that Samba is in fact injured, and if he isn't, who is lying.

Are you suggesting that Samba didn't, in fact, phone in sick the day before the Fulham game?

Listen, I am not trying to undermine your supporter pedigree, and I agree with you that it is very sad with all this supporter vs supporter crap that has sprouted up because of the sorry state of the Club.

You make a good point that it is not all black and white, but instead many shades of grey. However, consider that Rovers had the opportunity to come out and say this when he was pulled out of the closed reserves match on Tuesday, yet they didn't. Instead Kean made reference to legal issues and that he wasn't a legal expert. Now all of the sudden Samba has a hamstring problem. Not his words, the Clubs. Where have we heard this story before?

Then of course I agree with you about the way Samba spoke out about not being sure he could give the Club 100% anymore after he handed in his transfer request. It was not professional of him and smacked of either desperation to try and force the Club into moving him on, or as a direct challenge to the ownership. In any case it didn't endear him to the supporters, and I do fault him for that. On the other hand, Samba does not have this sort of behavior in his history, and has been a model professional on and off the pitch wherever he has played. The Venkys and Kean have no such track record.

And yes, I am implying that very well may not have phoned in sick before the Fulham game. Even he wouldn't be stupid enough to be seen out shopping in public in a huge city like Manchester on match day if he had done so. In addition to that, it would most certainly be club policy to have the head physio check the player out and declare him fit or unfit to play, especially one so vital to success. Do you think a professional footballer can SMS in sick the day before a match? I don't think so.

Before you go off on one,

remember this,

if the Venkys were not blatant liars, stay at home owners, who are skint and should be arrested for child neglect, this sitiuation with Samba would never have arose

No, because Samba has never been a pain in the arse before Venkys and Kean arrived on the scene has he?

Listen folks, I'm in no way defending either Venkys or Kean here, who would, but can we please stop painting Samba as some sort of martyr to the cause. I can see that the whole fiasco Rovers find themselves in is making it difficult for us, the mugs who will be left to pick up the pieces (if there are any left to pick up) to be objective in any way, shape or form, but surely, surely, we can recognise that Samba is crapping all over the fans with his selfish attitude?

Why isn't Samba suing Rovers/Kean for defamation then? I would, if lies like that were told on tv about me. Samba does have a track record of throwing his toys out of the pram incidentally, but I will grant you that he does give his all when he steps onto the pitch. He has been a negative influence in the past though, usually in or around a transfer window.

Samba has stuck two fingers up to every single Rover with his actions. I'm no better than the next fan, but I do travel a long, long way and pay a huge sum of money as a proportion of my income to get to games, and he can't even bother his arse for £60k a week?

The very worst aspect of the past 12/18 months turmoil has been the fan v fan arguments, not helped by losing perspective on other wrongs because we're so busy hating Kean and Venkys.

Rant over ;)

Answer to the first question is no, he hasn't. I can't recall anything before the January 2011 transfer window, actually.

Secondly, you are basing your judgement of Samba on one interview he did where he said something that any supporter would rightly take grievous offense to. Or do you blame him for handing in a transfer request? Is that him abandoning the supporters? Every other statement (famous divorce quote for instance) he has made has been directed firmly at the ownership, not even the Club itself, and especially not the supporters.

I understand that you feel let down by him wanting to leave, and angry that he has gone about it the way he has. I think we can all agree and sympathize with those sentiments. However, it is the Club not allowing him to play right now, not the other way around, that is plain to see.

That is a good question actually! Why hasn't Roberts, Salgado, or Nelsen sued when it was falsely claimed that they were injured? These are actually facts that can be proven, that the claims were made and later proved to be entirely false. I don't think it falls under defamation, but of it were to cause the player monetary damages in the form of a decreased ability to sign a contract somewhere else due to fitness concerns where there really were none, they would probably win of they pressed civil charges.

This is the bit that I'm not sure about to be honest. Did Samba pull out of that Carlisle bounce game or was he not selected? We are basing our opinions on what we suspect, not what we know. That's what i mean about there being more than one bad guy in this. If Samba isn't injured and Kean is lying why isn't Samba coming out and telling the world this? Hell, he might have a window of opportunity to get his contract ripped up, especially if the 'texting in sick' story wasn't true either? The fact that no such litigation has been forthcoming by the very rich footballer would suggest that, for once, there is some substance to what the club said.

If he signed a contract that didn't have a release clause but did have a gagging clause then he clearly is stupid enough to text in sick the day before a match.....

..... anyhow whoever is lying, be it Kean or Samba (or both!), I think Cryer should push and push and push some more on this.

heres one I made earlier

Posted 43 minutes ago

I will reword it if it helps,

good management would have avoided the situation,

What happened previous to make Samba do this is irelevant,

it is the future you can shape

If it made any sense I would probably make a comment on it

I'm not sure what is more worrying.

The lies or the fact that some people on here, and other rovers forums, swallow them

If we could work out who is lying we might have a chance eh? I suspect they both are but can only speculate, same as everybody else on here really.
