easytiger1
Hi there, It is, as you will doubtless soon be made very aware, 20 years of the Prem next season. As your team has spent at least one season in the top flight I wondered if you might like to contribute your top three 'Club Legends' to a book due out soon in conjunction with talkSPORT Radio and the publishers Simon & Schuster. A 'Club Legend' is distinct from a general 'Premiership Legend.' It is, for example, Gary Neville rather than David Beckham, Jamie Carragher rather than Steven Gerrard, Paul Merson rather than Thierry Henry, you get the picture. It need not be a player but just somebody strongly associated with the club during the last 20 years. It is most likely a player but it could be that bloke at Portsmouth with the tattoos or it could be Ken Bates at Chelsea (although that is unlikely). Regardless of who it is, he is likely to be talked about in the boozer after the match with the same reverence/ frequency as anybody else in the game. Obviously, any help you provide will be acknowledged in the book. Hope to hear from you soon. Best, Bill Borrows (Editor)

Obviously he will go in Newcastles list though won't he... He was of course far more successful at Ewood and should by rights be in our club legends

Cocker
I would like: Shearer (as above he has been more successful with us) Hendry Tugay or Flowers (dont talk to me about bottle) (would have love to have said Jansen but he was more of a legend in the championship) (And if you can have non players uncle jack obviously)

gumboots
Shearer, Tugay, Hendry I think for Rovers that Tugay would definitely have to be there. The guy was simply loved, not just because he was a good player but because, in a way someone like shearer never was, he was one of us. seems odd to say that of him, because in many ways he was very different from us, but the trappings of the modern footballer, the money, the status, the potential for getting your own way, seemed to pass him by. He was tough on the pitch and didn't mind getting stuck in but he had all the skill in the world, the vision to pick a pass and not only know where that one should go but where the ball should go afterwards. He knew how to play the crowd and I don't think I ever heard abnyone with a bad word to say about him, even when they were criticising him for one of his passes going astray. He was, as the song went, our turkish Delight, and we miss him.

bluebruce
There's no question that Uncle Jack is the number one. Shearer and Hendry after that, for me. Honourable mentions- tugay, john williams, brad friedel (even though when he left was the day I finally decided that you could never assume any player would be more loyal to the club than to themselves..a bit of my football soul died forever then). Am I the only one who doesn't quite get the above? Carragher and Gerrard are surely both club legends and so is Henry as far as Arsenal is concerned. MeanGreenMachine
Tugay Shearer doesn't give 2 ###### about the club. Hendry was a cracking centre half, but we have had a good few of them. No player wise, Jack Walker tops the list, he is a legend but bankrolling a side for me doesnt sit right for me in terms of this publication. So Tugay it is, simply (for me anyway) the most graceful players ever to pull on the blue and white halves, simply magnificent. Oh and he has scored some of the best goals the premiership has ever seen (his volley v spurs still makes me drool).
