And the whole pyramid of English Football is changed for one club?

One team from the conference not promoted?

Would Celtic start in the second division? they should have to earn the right to play, but then again, what happenns in the pyramid at Evo stick levels and downwards because a Scottish club wants to move over?

In real terms, they should start at North West Counties first division and work upwards!!

I bet Celtic would start in the conference though would realistically hope to start in a higher league such seems their desire to get away from the Scottish Football Association and Glasgow Rangers football club.

They see this Rangers debacle as a way out of Scottish football, and not just one in which to gloat about though i'm sure they are having a field day but such is their anger towards the SFA whom they feel have consistantly let them down season after season with their close links to Rangers football club past and present.

It won't happen, but Rangers go bust, therefore Sky and ESPN either pull out completely or offer paltry new terms, gate recipts drop without the numerous OF matches.

Ergo wages Celtic can pay reduce and a poorer side is put out on the pitch. The only remaining cash cow- the Champions League, becomes ever harder to get into.

'Celtic don't need Rangers', Aye ok!

There has to be something dodgy about the Ticketus company in my opinion. What finance company would agree to lend cash upfront to someone (whyte) who was trying to secure it on the revenue of a company he didn't yet own and wasn't putting a penny of his own money into?

Also they must have some security over the club or personally from Whyte because surely Rangers can't just start earning tv money next year and not pay Ticketus their £24m back?

Glasgow Celtic football club is big enough to take some short term financial pain if they know that there is along term goal that would give them the opportunity to perform on the English stage most definitely.

As a Church of England boy, just cant understand this b~llocks about protestants hating Catholics up there though must admit Tony Blair would go to prison for me for what hes done .

Swap them with Carlisle?

I don't want Celtic or Rangers in the English leagues and I don't think they really want to come down either. It's purely be for TV money (obviously). Once that dries up they'd want to go back to Scotland.

Exactly. I'd bet every man jack of the Celtic fans would vote for devolution yet let em sniff a chance at Premier money and they'd make an exception for Celtic playing down here faster than an alter boy cycling through the vatican.

But if i could and being honest I'd scrap league one downwards and introduce north N south leagues as i know most lower level clubs are run at a lose and are struggling.

Poster on here somewhere from a Kettering fan seeking financial help to save them from financial oblivion. He'd be better putting some effort into getting them to unite with MK Dons, Northampton, Peterboro and whatever is left of Rushden and Diamonds and form a half decent club capable of punching it's weight with the likes of Leicester and Coventry.

what sane Scotsman wouldn't take the English for a bag full of cash?

No idea maj... I don't know any sane Scotsmen.

The only ones I can recall are the silly burgers who tried that by force on numerous occasions in history and despite lots of attempts at toppling the big boys it didn't ever really have a happy ending for the haggis munchers did it? :P

Celtic, of course, are not sectarian in any way.

Another one of your gems.

Indeed. I come from a staunch Celtic family but some of the individuals I've encountered on trips to Parkhead (especially the Irish ones) are horrific human beings. I've more in common with Ian Paisley.

I have family connections in the West of Scotland which are of Presbyterian stock and therefore Rangers to the core.

I also have distant cousins who are non Old firm fans ("diddies") who refer to to Rangers and Celtic as "two cheeks o' the same erse".

Careful now with stereotypes.

You will actually find that most of us Irish do have a soft spot for celtic but the serious fans come from Northern Ireland (Different country!).

When you say Irish you imply the Republic.

Having lived and worked in Glasgow for the past 17 years I can safely say that both halves of the Old Firm have their fair share of utter morons, and their fair share of balanced individuals too. It is nothing like any other rivalry in the UK and goes way beyond football. For many reasons I agree with those who say that the two clubs are inter dependant of each other.

If I had to favour one side over the other in terms of passion I would probably say that the Celtic fans tend to rally round a 'cause' more than the Rangers fans. Might have something to do with the very large chip they all seem to have on their shoulders. Check out how many 'Tims' turn up to greet new players and (especially) new managers at Parkhead, and how many of them rallied round when they were in dire straits financially pre Fergus McCann. Compare that to the smattering of Rangers fans that gathered outside Ibrox when the administration news broke.

Maybe we live in different times, I don't know, or maybe Rangers fans have been spoilt by the high spending era and are apathetic now (similarities at Ewood??).

Anyway, up the Jags!!

As an Irishman I'll imply whatever I want I suppose. ;)

That said, Celtic fans from Northern Ireland would most definitely consider themselves Irish both culturally and geographically.

Can't think why they don't move south then. Would have saved a shed load of unecessary hassle over the years.

Whilst I'm on the subject it's pretty much the same with all that lot on Big Fat Gypsy wedding. They all seem to have Irish accents. Why don't they go back there to scrap and chase wild animals with dogs every day? Come to think about it why dont the anti hunt brigade and Peta etc bother 'hounding' them?
