[Archived] WenY Hu-Sydney visit

Recommended Posts

Guys, Wen is visiting our fair city around 2nd March.

We should take this opportunity for a get together, meet old faces, meet new ones. Talk about our problems, or forget them for a while, to thank Wen for his part in producing the podcasts, over a cold ale or two.

A provisional time is 1pm 3/03/12 at The Lord Nelson, The Rocks Sydney.

It's not just limited to Sydneysiders, if you live interstate and can make it, please come along.

For me, it won't be a late do, perhaps three or four hours.

To give some idea of how many will turn up, please put a comment here.

Admin, could you pin this for a short while, please.

We'll see about a podcast... I'll be around on the Friday and the Saturday, leaving on the Sunday and hopefully I can meet up with some of the Rovers down under and talk football.

Ive not been for a year but I have family near Sydney and spent a year and a half living/working there. I made the choice to come back here instead. Not sure it was the right one in hindsight, would love to be back there.

Its a cliche but its so laid back there I dont know if its the people and the weather or something else but it suited me to a tee, but home comforts and other family problems forced it.

Wouldn't mind joining you guys, but will be in Perth between the 1st and 4th of March. My best friend's moving to Seattle this year and he's booked us a trip for a few days before he goes. Let me know if you guys end up in Melbourne after the 4th though.

Pity, Miker - I was hoping to meet up with you in Melbourne, but it was ridiculously hectic in the lead up to departure and I had my hands full coming through there. I also noticed New Order are on there on March 1st. If I'd known in advance, I would have gone back via Melbourne, damnit. They're on in Sydney, but only after I have left.

Good one SR.

If you walk down to George St North, behind the MCA and the overseas terminal, you'll come to the Orient. Turn left there and walk up the Argyle cut, under the bridge, past the Garrison Church. About 100 metres on the right on the corner of Kent St.

I too can drop in for a few. Unfortunately I know the Lord Nelson rather well.

HOWEVER, as I pointed out in my intro, Rovers are my second team. I do follow them passionately, dutifully listen to all the podcasts, have a Steve Kean doll with lots of pins in it and get to games whenever I'm in the UK. If my initial confession disqualifies me from joining you lot at the Lord Nelson I fully understand.

Time for bed now so I can get up at 4:30 to watch the game. Quite looking forward to it ... I think.

I can exclusively reveal that Wen Y Hu will be the new owner of Blackburn Rovers.

He is uncontactable for pod casts, perseveres for ages with a set up that is patently not working, makes a balls up of something as simple as sitting in a park without a strimmer next to him or birds squawking in his ear and is too tight fisted to use an internet cafe.

So no change from the current set-up then.

It's true. I can confirm it. The cafe was not open at the ungodly hour of the day for the podcast recording today, and it only has 45-minute logins anyway. So I had to sit on a wet bench outside the main building that was locked while trying to get a decent connection. Massive failure. But the birds were in full voice and I felt at one with nature. Until the strimmer came.

Looking forward to the weekend in Sydney. A deluge of biblical proportions is forecast - any development on that front?

Is everything posted on this site a pxxx take or is it worthwhile visiting and posting sensible dialogue relevant to Rovers?

I've been a passive viewer and infrequent poster for a few weeks now and to be honest all I've read generally is a load of dross.

What the hell's going on?

It's laughable but not. What have the Romans ever done for us.................... ? PFJ, PJF, PPFJ, BRAG, BRIT............?

Spare a shekel for an old ex leper!

We Are The Rovers!

darrenrover:

By way of explanation, I'm in Tassie at the moment and having major difficulties with Internet connections where I am staying - hence the intermittent activity on the podcasts this last couple of weeks. This is what Philipl is alluding to. I guess the occasional attempts at humour are to save us from tearing our hair out.

As for sensible dialogue - I can't think of a worse time to be a Rover in our entire history and it's incredibly difficult at times like these, so you have to choose your thread, I think. But, anyway, to keep this one on topic, I'll stop there.

Wen, nothing personal mate, just a general observation.

I hope you enjoy your trip but that's not what this sites all about in my opinion.

I'll bugger off , probably best.

Doesn't look good weather-wise, but could be worse. We had 39C here at the weekend and it was horrendous. Thanks to both for the updates.

No problem and it certainly wasn't taken personally.

For me and many others, meeting up with others in real life is what it is all about. Be good to talk Rovers in the flesh and put names to faces.

Don't let it wear you down!
