Doug Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Samba Set To Leave Rovers Also report on the potential deal on Sporting Intelligence Think that may close a number of threads.
thenodrog Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Not sure why it was closed but there was a good deal of bitterness surfacing on the last thread by far. Predictable though it always is! taking candy off babies /spurned brides at the alter and all that. Lets apply a bit of reason here..... Truth is that Samba has been a colossus and inspiration for us on many occasions and we've seen his character displayed on many occasions. He like us was promised the earth last January and he's seen it all become just one lie after another. Unlike us he can be paid just as much if not more elsewhere with a club that is going places and not one that is providing disappointment and dismay to him on a daily basis. He is a fighter and a winner but there comes a time when he has come to the conclusion that he is simply flogging a dead horse here. Losing match after match hurts players like Samba as much if not more than it hurts the supporters. Allardyce's sacking followed by Williams departure, followed by Jones's sale and the non replacement of Jermaine Jones will have shown him the direction the club was heading backed up by crap buys through the summer and the slumdogs strange decision to stick with the manager. Add to that the reluctance of Hoilett to pen a new deal, Barclays mistrust of the owners and the very real threat of the players wages not being paid and there really is no decision for him to make. Venkeys havealready made it. btw Degsy have you not heard of melanoma? I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than cope with 39C every day. You just throw another prawn on the barbie and make sure you eat it quick before the flies do.
forumquizmaster Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Sadly, nobody comes out of this sorry saga with any dignity, least of all the player himself.
Torgeir Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Ubelievable. We're in a relegation scrap, keep him until the summer.
Backroom trueblue Posted February 24, 2012 Backroom Posted February 24, 2012 So much for 'He's not for sale" from Kean/Venky's !!! Yet more crap from the owners!
G Somerset Rover Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Isn't the transfer window closed? Not in Russia. He has until 9pm tonight to make the move. Enjoy Russia Chris...
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted February 24, 2012 Moderation Lead Posted February 24, 2012 This will make him a very rich(er) man....
rovers_rob Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I wonder if Steve Kean will hand in his resignation in protest ?!?
Eddie Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 If he is actually refusing to play for us then we don't really have a choice. It's decent money, it's not to a rival and it shows that his desire to leave isn't related to footballing issues, but instead because he can see a big payday.

Hey, he gets to play with Roberto Carlos and Samuel Eto'o.

Refusing to play is surely a breach of contract or something? Wouldn't we be able to sack him and claim alot of compensation out of it? Seem to remember someone on here posting something along those lines?
den Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 So to some, this is another good deal to match the Jones good deal? Add to all the other good deals we've done lately and over the last couple of seasons - then let's come back to have another look next season. Some fans never, ever learn.
Jimmy612 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Sorry state of affairs! He may have wanted to progress in his career and no-one can ever blame him for that, but you have to wonder whether he would have acted like this had the club been still run properly. You wonder if anyone has even talked to Samba about the situation. Only really Kean would have chance to make contact with him (we don't have a chairman) and I wouldn't be surprised if Kean has just completely ignored him for 2 months. Samba has been forced into drastic action after he was promised so much just 13 months ago! His agent would have been in his hear telling him what to do, and I feel that Samba in the end was backed into such a corner that he had to turn to this action to get out of the club! He owes us nothing.. He has given everything to Blackburn Rovers in the last 5 years, I'm just sorry that he couldn't leave on a better note than this The place is a shambles and an embarassment!

Never good to lose our best players, especially when they can't/won't be replaced- but we couldnt't have expected to get much more money than this for Samba from any English club....

All the money already gone ? "The deal does carry some good news for Rovers fans who may be loath to lose one of the club's best players, the money raised from the sale will allow the club to all but settle their outstanding Barclays Bank issue which has been an ongoing problem for months now.The sale allows Venky's to cover all major issues at Rovers until the summer and means they don't have to dip into their own pockets to finance any outstanding payments such as the cash owed to Dundee United for David Goodwillie (heaven forbid)." yoda Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I wonder if Steve Kean will hand in his resignation in protest ?!? Is coco's position now untenable " Samba is going nowhere" Mrs D, Stevie get over to India now, while your here the Brazilian has just sold Samba, Stevie, Hey I need him to stave off relegation, Mrs D, you can walk if you like

Source What a stupid article. How is it good news for Rovers fans that, instead of dipping into their pockets, Venky's have sold our captain to finance debt?
Jimmy612 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Party at Barclays when Samba gets sold Someone at Barclays will be extremely relieved at the moment. The best Friday night he/she will have had in quite some time!!
vwcr Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I can see Scott Dann being the next one to spit his dummy out to
Miker Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Let's not forget that we had a 20m debt before Venky's took over, which it appears Barclays have called in. While I would have preferred Venky's pay it themselves, it would have taken their spending on the club to 50m in less than a season, and clearing our debt is all I care about as far as finances are concerned. If this repayment means we are now debt free, financial issues are sorted and we can somehow avoid relegation than that will be a great result for our club. Whatever happens after, whether with these owners or new ones, we are in a more stable position to push on.
