MCMC1875 Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Rather selfishly, my sister is having a do for her 30th so I won't be able to go to the gig :-( Good event to celebrate a 30th I would have thought! Quote

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted July 8, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted July 8, 2016 Good event to celebrate a 30th I would have thought! Ha, she's not a fan sadly In any case, I've got a few other gigs coming up to whet the appetite! Kendal Calling at the end of this month, The Enemy in September in Liverpool, then The Maytals in Manchester the following night. UB40 at KGH in October as well! 1 Quote

Would have loved to be going to the UB40 gig but can't with the newborn unfortunately! However if it was 'Ali Campbell's UB40' then that might just have sealed it! Quote

Husky Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 So. I might be back in Lancs for my winter holiday soon. The Rebellion festival in August (4-7th) in Blackpool seems like a good crack (loads of proper old school classic punk bands on the line-up). Has anyone been? I bet it's a riot - chav town during tourist season + punks. 1 Quote

I've found that a lot of the line ups have one or two good acts on, there aren't THAT many real stand out every act is a banger sort of nights (bar the ones with small numbers on the bill). Quote

Husky Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Rebellion has sold out (inc. the Saturday day tickets) Looks like it might have to be a couple of day tickets and a '5 hours 3 rides' visit to The Pleasure Beach Quote

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted August 21, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted August 21, 2016 I went to the Great Northern Ska festival in Manchester yesterday, very good indeed, think the tickets were only £20 or so each as well. The Selecter were a little disappointing, but The Beat were excellent! Quote

MCMC1875 Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Space disco in Ibiza closes for good in October! Pepe has had enough at 80 years old. For those fortunate to have had the pleasure to sample its delights over the past 27 years you will know it has always been mad as a box of frogs. One abiding memory of many was seeing Brandon Block, one of the founding fathers of Sunday afternoons on the terrace, climbing in over the wall after getting thrown out. Happy memories. Quote

oldjamfan1 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 To close what has been a phenomenal exhibition on The Jam at the Cunard Building in Liverpool all summer, a charity concert has been arranged for 5th October at the Liverpool Echo Arena. Nicky Weller (frontman Paul’s sister and co-curator of the exhibition) is organising the gig – “A Celebration of The Jam” – which will feature original band members, bassist Bruce Foxton and drummer Rick Buckler, who will perform alongside The Paul Weller Band and a host of very special guests. So my question is this: They have hired an 8k capacity arena which has just about sold out in less than 24 hours with ticket prices starting at circa £50. How p1ssed off is everyone going to be if Paul Weller doesn't show up? Quote
