There is no guarantee the owners would sell up and there is every possibility even if they did sell that we may never return to the top flight.

We wouldn't be fit for purpose in the dhampionship, no use to the Venky's.

How much did it cost Jack to get us back up ten years ago, who has faith Venky's would payroll a promotion?

I cannot for the life of me understand any Blackburn Rovers supporter wanting or being indifferent to us going down.

Whilst I'm not overly optimistic that we'll keep our remaining quality players like Robinson, Hoillet and Yakubu in the summer, we WILL lose them if we're relegated.

Whatever issues we might or might not have on the playing or non playing side we HAVE to approach it from the position of having the cushion of the Sky Premiership money.

In my opinion also, we have shed a lot of unwanted baggage off the wage bill this season, IF the owners were prepared to make moderate investment in the team going forward then there are cautious grounds for optimism going ahead.

If they're not then eventual relegation beckons. Twas ever thus under the previous owners as well though.

To clarify I do not want us to go down, neither am I indifferent. I just think, long term, it MIGHT be the lesser evil. Would never be the case under the previous regime but under Venky's who knows?

My point about next season being potentially humiliating and dispiriting, with survival proving to be a stay of execution only, still stands. The moderate investment scenario is a big IF....

It's not wishful thinking at all

I believe it to be so Aggyblue. No big money Knights in blue 'n' white armour waiting to take over this club if the shyte hits the fan...just a fans consortium to date (without a relative pot to pee in,in footballing financial terms..I say that with all respect to those involved!) looking to pick up the pieces of what will be left after the relegation H bomb has gone off..

..And even that depends on this lot wanting to sell 'their baby',Its turning a horrible purplish blue at the lips at the moment but they dont seem to give a toss...could someone give the loons from Pune a nudge or a slap?

A horrible mess on and off the field. :(

At least we'd know a fans consortium had the clubs best interests at heart unlike these muppets. All they're bothered about is their Indian academy, making big money by selling players around the world from there.

So difficult to call with Rovers as they are so unpredictable.

I always feel that we have the type of players always capable of scoring a goal ie Yak, Hoilett, however, also feel that too many are thinking about 'life after Ewood'.

Unfortunately, when push comes to shove, I think we will be found wanting and, IMO, only because Kean is hugely unferior to the likes of Hughes, Coyle & Martinez. Would not surprise me at all if this was also a view held by some at Ewood !

The players may or may not be thinking of life after Ewood but the owners and Zahavi are planning the lives of the players away from Ewood.

Add that to the weekly budget for appearance, goal and win bonuses.

Add that to clueless Kean.

Add that to QPR, Bolton and Wigan now motoring with real management and real owners.

I am deeply deeply pessimistic about Rovers' survival. I fear that this time it will be more than 26 years' sojourn outside the top flight.

I have just got a feeling that Modeste is going to be our saviour in all this.

Eh? He might as well be a card-board cut-out, sticky-taped to the bench for all the good he'll do. And there's a few more like him.

Its cheaper to play "the first eleven".

dont take any notice as if Wigan are going to win 3 on the bounce...yeah right

The Mirror has the next 3 Rovers matches, 3 draws:

Remaining Games (With Predicted Results) Apr 7 WBA (A) DRAW; Apr 10 Liverpool (H) DRAW; Apr 14 Swansea (A) DRAW;

So, I made my original predictions, I do have the surviving teams likewise in the 37-38 point range.

Remaining Games (With Predicted Results) Apr 7 WBA (A) DRAW; Apr 10 Liverpool (H) DRAW; Apr 14 Swansea (A) DRAW; Apr 21 Norwich (H) WIN; Apr 29 Spurs (A) LOSE; May 7 Wigan (H) LOSE; May 13 Chelsea (A) LOSE,

The Wigan match is a bumper game, whoever wins that realistically stays up.

Wow, that same article has Bolton getting 44 points. Very generous, I'm not sure about that either.

Must be all that strength in depth we have to call on, Matty.

Tell you what though. One injury and we are really struggling. Two injuries and we'll be running in fumes.

A policy of keeping 11 tired players in the pitch for the whole game means no respite and only increases the chances of losing players.

Wonder if Mark Bunn can play as a striker - at least he's unlikely to be on a goal bonus.

Just as an aside can anybody think of another club that deserves to be relegated as much as we do? The decisions taken since the Slumdog millionaires trapped up have been suicidal. No other club with the exception of Wolves (in sacking Big Mick with no replacement lined up) comes even close to the breathtaking stupidity displayed time and time again by our owners.

To be honest Theno it's amazing that we're still in contention to stay up at all. The owners have pressed the self-destruct button time and time again and yet somehow we keep scraping points. It won't last, though.

Spot on Gordon.

Players being frozen out, 'manager' given a pay rise  , assets being stripped, poor players being brought in, you couldn't make this stuff up.... :angry2:

Bottom = us

Second bottom = Wolves

Third bottom = I don't give a rats ass any more.

Rovers recent form reminds me of when a terminally ill patient gets better before they get worse - or the twitching of a corpse.

There's nothing left.

Making a double substitution at 2-0 has put paid to the financial constraint rumours and virtually rubber stamped the fact that Kean is an incompetent, know-nothing, who doesn't deserve the title "Manager". He makes Brian Kidd look like a managerial genius.

I've heard Paul Ince has thrown his hat in the ring to save Wolves from the drop. Sod that, I'd have him back as replacement for Kean for the next 6 games.

It's all over as far as I can see.

Absolutely gutted.
