[Archived] Season Tickets 2012/13

a guy at my work, who has been freinds with someone for years, who works at the ticket office, claims rovers season ticket sales are up this year than last year, i explained to him that, that was ######, theres no way people are going to renew and it was probably someone telling his freind this to make people renew/buy season tickets.

It makes sense for sales to be up for the time since they went on sale. You will always get the instant renewers - those who would renew regardless of whether the whole club had a for sale sign on it (kind of like early adopters). They'll be happy to hand over their cash. Then the threat of price increase will get to some, creating a bubble effect for those who would definitely renew just normally later. "Why wait and pay more?"

The problem is not at this stage, it's later on when things normally start to steady out as those who normally wait and see would start to purchase. My feeling is that once the prices go up - assuming there is no change in owners or manager - that renewals will fall off a cliff.

Once again, the club is looking short term and prepared to pay the price for doing so.

They have only sold 600 season tickerts so far

I have heard four different figures now including this one,

three of which on these boards, but the one I got told this morning was much less than that,

There was a funny story the other day told to me about the club doing something for the first renewal, but that was somewhat scuppered by the identity of the first renewal

Seemingly the only meaningful protest we have left is to hit them where it really counts and thats in the pocket. I know season ticket revenue is a drop in the ocean these days but poor season ticket sales speaks volumes in the media and anyone concerned about the current goings at Ewood should not buy season tickets off these lying swine’s.

Buying a season ticket shows you support the regime in my opinion, but I'll not hammer anyone for doing.

I've been wrestling with this one, GAV.

It may show that you support them but it doesn't mean that you do so willingly.

There have been a lot of analogies about Rovers death (hell, I've made several) but the difference is that Rovers won't die. It will just change. At worst, it'll change into a non-league side. It won't be able to afford to keep Ewood Park going so it won't be the same but it will just be another change.

We've had a massive change for the worse with Venkys taking over and destroying everything that was good about the club and it has to be hoped that the change is temporary. They won't be welcome in the town ever again if the continue to rape the club the way they have - regardless of MG Road's assertion that people want autographs and photos with them. (They must be Rovers employees with no self-respect).

The dilemma is that gate receipts may be the only thing keeping the club going for the next however many seasons. It might hurt to hand it over whilst Venkys and Kean are here but it's whether it's worth cutting off our noses to spite our faces.

I hate Kean and I hate Venkys but as long as it's still called Blackburn Rovers, it'll always define me as a football fan.

If someone has one of your family members held hostage with a gun to their head, do you give them whatever they want in order to get your loved one back? Or do you tell them to shoot?

Horrible situation.

Totally agree GAV...

However I fear with the lack of true media coverage the nation will look at us as a bunch of fans jumping ship, fair-weather. And we shall look rather silly.

But hey ho, I'll be one of the absent ones anyway..

Call me cynical, but I'm expecting a few press stories to be leaked in the next 10 days, talking about transfer targets, Kean replacements etc...just as they did before the deadline last summer.

I'd expect a lot of renewals in the next week too, but still overall a shockingly bad figure, less than 5k I reckon.

Hello,

Thank you for the invitation to renew my season ticket.

As your records will no doubt show I have a been season ticket holder for 20 years.

I have attended games for many years prior to being a Season Ticket holder.

My first games were in the early 1960s with my Dad when I saw many Rovers’ legends. Ronnie Clayton was one of them.

I’ve seen Rovers get promotion to the Premier League at Wembley. I’ve seen Rovers win the League at Anfield in 1995. I was there. I was there at Cardiff when we won the Carling Cup

I’ve made the 60 mile round trip to see the club I love for many years.

I saw Rovers get relegated in 1999 after the game against Manchester United.

I’ve seen Simon Garner become the club’s leading goal scorer: this happened when on the day of the Hillsborough Disaster.

I know that Rovers are the founder members of the football league. I know that Rovers are pretty much the only club to have always played on blue and white halves; that Rovers still play on the same ground that we started off in the football league; that Rovers are still the only club to have won the FA Cup on three consecutive occasions and that Rovers are still one of the four clubs to have ever won the Premiership (which of course when football started.*sarcasm alert*)

I also know that after 30 odd years of supporting Rovers that this is a sad day for me in that I will not be renewing my season ticket. While Steve Kean is Manager and while Venkys are owners of the club I will not put a penny into the club. Kean is a useless manager and Venkys are incompetent owners.

So I’m not buying a season ticket for 2012 -2013.

Please feel free to pass this in to someone who may just have the passion or the commitment to actually care. I don’t suppose that anyone with any responsibility will bother. They never have done before.

Thanks , whoever who has the task of passing this on.

Colin

Getting mine, my daughters and sons on Friday.

Going no matter who is in charge or manages the club.

Hate Venkys, Hate Kean. But always blue and white will throw my money at them.

Edited for you

I will always be Blue and White, season ticket or not.

Only joking, the choice is yours. Just using your post to express my opinion, don't get the hump.
