Mercer Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Therefore if Sky, via the PL, makes payment to Rovers those monies are supporting the Raos activity to which so many object. It s a perfectly rational arguement but perhaps one which many find difficult to put into practice. But it will not make one bit of difference to the Raos !!! Can see where your moral argument is but moral arguments are not going to do anything to change the landscape at Ewood. What might influence and drive change, as Nixon outlined in The Mirror today, is to hit these clowns hard. Abysmal S.T. sales and a well nigh deserted Ewood will impact. Sometimes, we have to accept that when backed into a corner, you have to make decisions that you don't really want to. I will miss going to the Rovers enormously, but morally, I can't accept putting any further money into the hands of owners and a manager who, IMO, are incompetent, have no integrity and are morally bankrupt.

thenodrog Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 With respect I am not wrong. The basic arguement is no different from those who do not purchase Nestle products due to Nestle's sale of breast milk susbstitues in the third world or those who chose to boycott South African products in the days of apartheid (two pick just a couple of examples my household does and did support). By supporting companies/ regimes who have policies one objects to directly funds their activities. Don't want to get political but you'd do far more good for the country by boycotting products made in the Far East. We all would.
Paul Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Mercerman I completely understand your point. All I wish to do is try to make people consider the whole issue, which is greater than the Raos ownership. I have argued for years the money, foreign ownership, etc. is wrong and damaging to the game. The majority seem to accept it until, crucially, it directly impacts on their club. I believe the whole concept (wrong word but can't think of another) of the PL is flawed and ultimately is to blame for what may be the complete demise of one of the game's finest clubs. Don't want to get political but you'd do far more good for the country by boycotting products made in the Far East. We all would. Yes we'd best not divert the whole thread! I get the point. The Nestle thing is connected with my wife's profession and the SA thing is long gone since the changes in that country. One aspect I don't think has been mentioned yet is the potential closing of any of the stands due to lack of season tickets sold in that area. With the cost cutting measures due soon I can't see them opening say the Family Stand and bearing the cost of turnstile operators, stewards and people in the kiosks if there is going to be hardly anybody there. Leeds did a similar thing and closed the upper tier of their main stand when they dropped into League One. Yes mentioned this one a few weeks ago. I think closing one or more of the upper tiers is a possibility. It's a reasonable cost cutting option and one of the reasons that despite my renewals we have not yet decided where to sit. I suspect the area around our current seats in the JW upper will be like a desert in which case we may move to the lower tier or the Riverside. Quite fancy something close to the dugout to be honest. Once we see how empty or otherwise our area is we will make a choice.
only2garners Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 10000 x £300 = £3m. I'm guessing that's how much they might lose due to the hit on ST sales. It will be nothing like that. Firstly we won't lose 10,000 season ticket holders - we only have less than 15,000 to start with. Secondly we earn nothing like £300 on average for each one. The full price for most of them was £225 although for example I only paid £202.50 with the Family stand discount. Secondly there are a lot of concession tickets costing much less. Yes, there are some more expensive tickets in the JW and the new prices will be a bit higher but the average will still be way less than £300 - my guess nearer £200.

And no-body buys programes, beer, food... Its the average spend per season ticket holder thats important, not just the ST price. Also I wouldn't be surprised if we lost 10K. I would personally expect around a 50/50 split between renewing and not myself but wouldn't be surprised at 2/3 not renewing.
Ralfinho Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 can we not get a double page spread in the LT highlighting the best way to hit Kean & Venkys where it hurst and beg all our fans to stay away? I am sure the LT would allow us to do so as Kean with his comments today will surely have pi$$$$$ed them off

Didn't it take less than 2 hours of fund raising to get that plane in the sky. Would suggest 1 page of broken promises - pick out the main ones and one page of what next.
Hughesy Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Wouldn't you be best getting a full page spread in the Indian press, they ain't going to read the lancs telewag.
Hasta Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 The boss at my company has told me this morning they he is not renewing his corporate lunch / seat package (4 people I believe). These aren't £225 and when you include those into the average sales lost it may well be around the £3mill mark.
joey_big_nose Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Wouldn't you be best getting a full page spread in the Indian press, they ain't going to read the lancs telewag. Considering the supporter base of the football club they have bough do - and that "asset" looks like it could lose them millions upon millions of pounds and is generating a vast negative swathe of PR though mismanagement - perhaps they should?
CAPT KAYOS Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Why are people just arguing £'s? What about the intangibles, time and motion etc - football is a spectator sport - lesser audiences less viewing mediums will not attract additional income streams nor 'indirectly' spread/advertise the name of 'wonkys' via word/ branded goods /tv etc. Will be much higher value wise than what is being discussed here.
Mercer Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 ticket office reckoned 2000 before youth match!! The numbers game continues !!! And I still think that games are being played when figures of 4,000, 6,000 etc are bandied about.

barry_ Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 just an aside... Cardiff City's new owners have changed their home kit from blue to red... wonder if Venky's would go as far?
toogs Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 After todays events at the club I have decided to try and get a refund on my ST. Has anyone successfully done this? If you paid in full up front is this possible? Any experiences appreciated.
stuwilky Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 toogs, You need to put the request in writing to the Ticket Office Manager - Sharon Metcalfe.
toogs Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 toogs, You need to put the request in writing to the Ticket Office Manager - Sharon Metcalfe. Thanks
McClarky Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Thanks Interested to see how you get on, in same position myself and have given them till 1 month after the "dazed and confused" speech to sack SK as an absolute minimum.
Ben-2000 Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 toogs, You need to put the request in writing to the Ticket Office Manager - Sharon Metcalfe. According to the 'who's who' page on the Official Site the TO Manager is somebody called Paula Arpaci. Another one gone it seems
Baz Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Who's who at Blackburn Rovers Posted on: Wed 06 Jun 2012 Directors: Robert Coar, Gandhi Babu, Mahesh Gupta, Vineeth Rao, Simon Hunt. Finance Director: Karen Silk Club President: K.C. Lee. Vice Presidents: I.R. Stanners, G.R. Root, M. Jeffries. Manager: Steve Kean. Assistant Manager: Eric Black. First Team Coach: Iain Brunskill. Goalkeeping coach: Bobby Mimms. Reserve team coach: Gary Bowyer. Academy Manager: Phil Cannon. General Manager: Paul Agnew. Football Secretary: Anthony Bloch. Commercial Manager: Ken Beamish. Stadium Manager: John Newsham. Ticket Office Manager: Paula Arpaci. Head of Community Affairs: Gillian Kinloch. Probably worthwhile keeping a copy of this as it will be updated regularly over the summer. Its pretty telling that 99% of fans wouldn't recognise a single director of the club if they walked past them at Ewood.
Mattyblue Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 Read this morning that Villa sold 2000 season tickets on the day of Lambert's appointment. So frustrating to see how a fanbase can so quickly reinvograte, whilst BRFC goes against the fans wishes at every turn.

Its pretty telling that 99% of fans wouldn't recognise a single director of the club if they walked past them at Ewood. What happened to Lindsay Talbot (sp?)? I thought she was made head of community affairs? Looks to me like some managers have been binned to cut costs with staff promotions for little increases in wage. Kean must be bloody cheap compared to every other manager out there but surely there is better value for money? Venkys got us into this mess, they should be putting their hands in their pocket to cover costs for this Championship season. They should have said "Thanks for your loyalty, there will be no staff cuts in the 2012/13 season at least".
thenodrog Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 After todays events at the club I have decided to try and get a refund on my ST. Has anyone successfully done this? If they haven't they should. Every Season Ticket sold is a vote of confidence in what the Venkeymob are doing to the club. Not sacking Kean after his appalling drunken interview has dragged the club down to the level of the gutter. Their lack of action is effectively an endorsement of the man.
Hughesy Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 It's not a vote of confidence it's a passion which nobody will stop.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted June 7, 2012 Moderation Lead Posted June 7, 2012 A pretty damning indictment of the tragic situation we find ourselves in when people are being criticised for renewing season tickets....
