I have supported the Rovers through THIN and Thin over the past 55 years and had a season ticket for the majority of those. I have not renewed because this is not the Rovers anymore.

It is now an organisation masquerading as a football club.

Again, you're not tackling my argument, you're trying to make it personal.

Give me a good, solid foundation for renewing this year other than "waaaa it's my choice.

Bad analogy. You see, the deaf man has no sense of sound on which to form an opinion of the Kaiser Chiefs and the quality of their music. I, however, have seen more than enough in the past year to know that renewing a season ticket at Ewood Park is a fool's errand. Unless, of course, you can prove otherwise?

But how can you say it’s a fool’s errand? Your not in the same situation….Armchair supporting is COMPLETELY different.....the only reason people need is, its there choice and its there club....whats all this solid foundation crap?

Bad analogy also - you have never been so you don’t really understand the predicament that people face. Watching on TV is so very different. For example, I’ve watched the Champion’s league final on TV, looks great for the clubs involved – but its no comparison to being there live. Now in 99 I was in Barcelona when United played Bayern in the final......I HATE United but being there, watching it live was something else – it was a top night, not just for United but for English football and for anyone English in the City who had a grudge against the Germans, the excitement, the rivalry, the atmosphere etc…..Being THERE is totally different to watching on TV – on TV you don’t get the atmosphere, the banter, the buzz, the social aspect of being in the pub before or after the game etc. You don’t get to form relationships with those who sit around you at the game, which create friendships etc. It’s more than just watching a game. It’s a passion.

Its so tough to explain.....

Now take, being there for year after year.....it’s like a drug, an addiction, the longer you take something, the more you get hooked – it’s a passion and pride. It’s something you have always done; somewhere you have always been and shared many special memories with very special people. You have got into it for a reason, whether through a loved family member/ friend or whatever – either way you get hooked.

NEVER once in the past have I purchased a ticket based on who the manager is, what league we are in or who the owner is. So why change now? People say the club is dead.....but it will never be Dead, aslong as Blackburn Rovers play in a league, at Ewood Park it will still be going. Yes Venkys are ruining it, yes Agnew isn’t liked and yes Kean is an absolute CUN!T but that will not stop people from wanting to go watching their team and wearing their team colours with pride. Yes people have different thresholds on what they can take, some can’t stomach anymore, some claim they will still go away games, some claim they will be back IF Kean ever goes – that’s fair enough – but some will NEVER give up hope, regardless of how much aggro you try to hand out to them on here, it won’t work, so accept people decisions. I will be there next season, regardless of it all. The only thing that would stop me, is being dead.....it’s that simple.

reply Ive recieved from the club about cancelling my ticket, Its pretty fair to be honest.

"Dear Andy

We regret that you feel you have to make the decision to cancel your season ticket and would ask you to reconsider given the great value the ticket represents, even in the Championship. I should point out that, should you change your mind prior to the start of next season, the Early Bird price will not be available at that stage and your seat can no longer be guaranteed.

This has been an incredibly difficult season for everyone and has regrettably ended in relegation. Like you, we are also disappointed that we could not retain our Premier League status. We must now reflect on the season, learn from it and try to focus on a return to the top flight as soon as possible.

Should you still wish to cancel your ticket, I would ask that you contact me on the above e-mail with your season ticket details and I will progress the matter for you at that stage.

Yours sincerely

Lynsey Talbot

Office Manager"

Its a shame its come to this , Id renew whatever division we were in...... But not under this regime

I agree with a lot of your post Hughesy, but to say this situation is no different from any other period in our history is quite silly. We've never, ever seen anything like this. Nor has any supporter of any other club.

People say the club is dead.....but it will never be Dead, aslong as Blackburn Rovers play in a league, at Ewood Park it will still be going.

No-one has said the club is dead as far as I'm aware. They have said the club is in danger of dieing and that's what they wont support.

Yes Venkys are ruining it, yes Agnew isn’t liked and yes Kean is an absolute CUN!T but that will not stop people from wanting to go watching their team and wearing their team colours with pride.

Patently not true is it? 2 out of every three fans have refused to commit.

No-one's renewing because we are in the Championship?

They just don't get it, do they?

Of course they do, but she is just a PA/ office manager who has no power....what else is she supposed to say if she wants to keep her job? Its the partyline obviously.

1st point - I never said its no different, just that it wont change my view....its just too hard to give up for some. Not because they are fools or because they support what Venkys are doing etc....but because they feel that passionately about something.

2nd point - Many have said the club is dead in there eyes until the owners/ kean/ agnew etc go.

3rd point - like I said in my post, people have different levels of what they can take....for others they will take it all - until they die, they feel that strongly.

Like I said pal its too difficult to get across everything you feel about the club and why you wont give it up, just trying to get through to a few non season ticket holders, just how hard that is.

Interesting they have gone back on sale at the early bird prices.

No they haven't.

An interesting aside, although it in no way justifies the position at Ewood, is that we are not the only club where season tickets are not on sale. Burnley, for one, are not selling until after the new fixtures are issued.

1. I thought that the Darren End was unreserved

2. Who will be queuing up to buy ST's and so take your precious seat?

Who gives a flying (Please don't use that word again) about Burnley.

The club is a joke at the moment.

A joke of a person is obviously going to be stood on the sideline whilst our joke of a team kicks of in the Championship.

Don't get me started on the barrow boy counting out his money and those people in India.

I don't need to be in the same situation. The thousands of long-terms NOT renewing should tell you that. Like I said to your friend, don't try to score points off me because I've never owned a ST.

You're right. I've forgotten the absolute buzz I've been missing out on over the past 18 months. Watching Steve Kean & his army of slugs do their utmost best to relegate the club and drag the fans name through the mud.

Now take, being there for year after year.....it’s like a drug, an addiction, the longer you take something, the more you get hooked – it’s a passion and pride. Appealing to emotion. Poor do, Hughesy. For one, the past is exactly that - the past. You should be concerned with the club's future, or rather lack of one thanks to those in charge of the club. Pride & passion have also been sucked dry now that we're an absolute joke of a club run by crooks and backstabbers. Look past your teary-eyed sentiment and you'll realize that. Using the past as a justification for the here and now is complete non sequitur. Yes, we were once a successful, well-run, well-respected club where fans could actually attend and enjoy matchdays. Now we're an absolute husk crawling with parasites. It's nowhere near equatable to blips in the past where the people in charge ultimately did what was best for the club and there was still a sense of affinity with what the club stood for. At least traditional values had some relevance there.

Yes, Hughesy. We're all quite aware by now that you're a Rovers superfan. Was there any point to this saccharine fluff other than to blow your own trumpet? I understand that when you've been doing something for 'x' amount of years it becomes second nature, but you're a grown man who should be able to recognize that Rovers as an entity are now rotten to the core and the fans are no longer welcome. Yet you would blindly support this because...? Who exactly are you being loyal to here?

Yeah, that's true. Topman, in all honesty shouldn't be lecturing ST holders. I wouldn't.

Bigot.

I've said before we have renewed. If I didn't have the over-riding pressure to continue to take my son - I absolutley refuse to deny him his pleasure - I would either return my ST, if I'd bought one alone, or would not renew. I'd like to join the non-renewal protest but simply can't.

It isn't the football, the Championship or even the Raos, Kean and Agnew. For me the culmination of the last 18 months means I have now, for the time being, lost interest in the club. Until I know what is happening, see something happen, even if it's just to announce which players are leaving, I'm ignoring the whole thing. It's quite a relief not to bother as the tension and pressure has gone. Might be different come August but that's how I feel now.

I must say the one thing which is really irritating me is the armchair supporters who criticise those who have renewed. To be frank if you've never had an ST, never been if you possibly could (which is to rule out the overseas people) you have no right whatsoever to criticise other people's choice. If you've never put your money where your mouth is, never put money in the club and had the opportunity to do so you can't have an opinon or an understanding of how other people feel.

To coin one of your phrases... You can feel the sexual tension judging by the attention you pay to Den and Hughesy lol

Have you ever been to a game at Ewood?

Don't forget Mercerman. He gives me good feelings.

And it's usually Den who drops my name first, bless him. Case in point.

Have you ever been to a game at Ewood?

Yes, sir.

But again, where's the relevance? Either what I say is valid or it's not.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

It is entirely relevant. Until the United and Liverpool games this season when work prevented me from going I had missed three home games in 28 seasons. Others have been ST holders and going for far longer. You appear to attend once in a blue moon, if ever, yet have the audacity to lecture others on their choices.

As I asked when was the last time you went to Ewood or anywhere to watch Rovers?

Typical armchair mentality – you don’t get it, it’s that simple.....Some of your lines above show that....

How do you switch off a passion?? How do you switch off raw emotion??

What if Season tickets didnt go back on sale? the only season ticket holders were those who bought at the early bird price ,then the fact that we have a low take-up of season tickets becomes irrelevent (venky spin) anybody else who wanted to go the game would have to pay matchday prices , of which in the football league have a minimum price's

You don't switch it off, it gets beaten out of you.

I've had to move South for a job, which made the decision to not renew after ten years easier. That said I had stopped going to matches last year, despite forking out for a season ticket. The passion had gone - probably because I don't identify Blackburn Rovers as my club anymore. It's certainly not the club I supported for so long.

Once these owners are gone I'm sure I'll be back. Until then it's simply not going to happen.
