Exiled in Toronto Posted June 12, 2012 Posted June 12, 2012 Memories of Darwen schooldays with the mention of Mrs Scholey. She frightened more Darwen school children than the whole of the teachers together. With her tyrannical ways though it was literally sink or swim John! Scholey!!! I was close. She'd sort Mrs D out

onlyonejackwalker Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 But why does she wish to continue to go. Does she know, or have you explained to her, what exactly is going on at our club. I said she was poorly, not stupid. She wishes to continue going as she may not have much time left, which should have been pretty obvious even to a plank. Sorry to hear about your mum, oojw. Thank-you, I only mentioned her to demonstrate that fans may be renewing for hugely personal reasons that have nothing to do with Venky's, Steve Kean, or anything to do with the club for that matter. Personal reasons that may mean little to others, but everything to the individual. And why do you wish to raise this banal point. I am sick to death of this attitude of "I can be excused of being offensive" because of a juvenile belief that it is justified by a hatred of what is happening at the club. The stupid aspect of this approach is it puts barriers up and hardens attitudes. One of those is a refusal to be hounded out of Ewood by anyone, either the incompetent owners or the aggression of other Blackburn Rovers supporters. You will note that I do not claim to be a better or worse supporter than anyone else. I sometimes think that because Venkys, Kean and Agnew aren't available to be abused that the target moves to any fan who still wants to go to watch the team they have spent their lives following. That includes judging others as if they have committed some awful crime. It isn't productive, it does little to convince others and it is very mean-spirited. I can understand the pain, that is commonly felt, but we aren't animals that lash out mindlessly because of that pain. Well said. The huge divide amongst fans created by Venky's has been part of our clubs malaise and lasting problems for way too long now. Once upon a time you would be called out for NOT renewing your ticket. Now renewing is cause for criticism... Everything has been turned from back to front with these owners.
Hughesy Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Update from Bolton At the price freeze deadline last week - they have sold 11,000 season tickets so far, a small increase on like for like sales. 43% of those are on Direct Debits!
neophox Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Does anyone know how many season tickets rovers have sold to date?
EgyptianPete Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Scholey!!! I was close. She'd sort Mrs D out Ha Ha, remember the long pole with the big spoon thing on the end, you either got clouted with it or she would pour the water over you head. Not so happy days.
Fife Rover Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 You can cancel a direct debit at any time!! Of course you can , but that doesn't cancel your debt. You will still have to honour your original credit agreement. Oops.....I replied too quickly. Never read the bit about the club being in breach of it's contract to us.
Mercer Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Does anyone know how many season tickets rovers have sold to date? Think Cryer reported 5,000, however, interestingly, he also reported 'committed' number lower. I understand that requests for refunds and cancelled direct debits are now well into three figures !
Exiled in Toronto Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Ha Ha, remember the long pole with the big spoon thing on the end, you either got clouted with it or she would pour the water over you head. Not so happy days. Haha, yes! We should have one of those at Ewood we can use on Dann!

I work every day with people in there 80's and 90's, and see first hand that most older people do not like to change there routine. I asked if she understood what seems to be going on at the Rovers, if she does and she is happy to still attend, then so be it. Also as I have never met your mum, how is it obvious (even to a plank )that she may not have much time left.
PAFELL Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 When people go to get season tickets, since the early bird scheme. What is the reason the ticket office give for not selling them.

The fact I mentioned she had bone marrow cancer of the pelvis and shoulder should have given you a clue. But fair enough, I understand your original reply a little better now. The point being, that renewing tickets for some is nothing to do with Venky's or Kean. She is very unhappy with all that is happening at the club like most sane and sensible people. With her health in the balance however and undergoing chemo she is living each day as it comes and still wants to attend.
ABBEY Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 When people go to get season tickets, since the early bird scheme. What is the reason the ticket office give for not selling them. Well the latest rumour doing the rounds is that they are not on sale because they are taking legal advice on the 40% increase , BUT this is where the rumour gets good. They are wanting or the owd hag is wanting to tag the 40% rise onto EVERY ticket sold thus far !!!!! If she tries it then I'm outta of ewood forever. Btw I didn't start it.

You really wouldn't put it past them Abbey, its just the sort of thing these idiots would come up with.

If they do that then everyone who has signed up for a DD is entitled to cancel as they are changing a signed legally binding document so you can either re-sign a new contract and agree with the increase or cancel altogether.

They would be in breach of contract and liable to a lawsuit against them!!

Where would things stand legally if you've already paid for your season ticket in full up front?
Ralfinho Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Where would things stand legally if you've already paid for your season ticket in full up front? If you have paid upfront then you are fine. They cannot ask for more money. Its like going to Curry's or Comet, buying a new TV, then a few weeks later them saying "sorry but we have decided to put up the price for that TV, can you pay us the difference?" You would tell them to do one Not going to happen is it?

Yes, we're expected to use the same cards, but what's to stop the club from not activating them for 2012/13 until they've received additional payment?

Yes, we're expected to use the same cards, but what's to stop the club from not activating them for 2012/13 until they've received additional payment? The club would be in breach of contract, any agreement, direct debit or otherwise forms a contract, an agreement between two parties, it is irrevocable unless one party breaks that agreement, if it was you who cancelled your direct debit as you didnt want to go any more, you are in fact in breach of the agreement, likewise, as that agreement was in exchange for a fee, any changes by BRFC would be in breach of that agreement and would be liable to a lawsuit. As earlier stated, should Rovers fail to play matches due to folding etc, then they again have failed in their agreement to provide a service and you can cancel your direct debit!
Stand & Deliver Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 If they do that then ask for a full refund!!!! You'll probably judt get a few Venky's XPRS vouchers pal, only valid in Pune. If you're lucky you might get a bag of chicken feed thrown in too.
davulsukur Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 If they have sold you the ST and you have paid the money, your legal transaction for the purchase of the ticket is complete. They cannot demand anymore money from you. They would not have a leg to stand on if they tried to demand anymore for the ticket.
OJRovers Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Normally I'd dismiss this as nonsense, but you can't rule anything out with our owners/advisors.
Backroom Tom Posted June 14, 2012 Backroom Posted June 14, 2012 I can't see this being true, even with our owners it's beyond the realms for me
