They may have no bloody option!!!!!!!

DREAMING......Do they look concerned by protests?? Have the fired the manager following the protests?

They clearly aint skint or they wouldnt be shelling out big wages for the likes of Murphy & Best, especially not when the club is already running at a loss in the championship.

I wouldnt be too sure about that one Hughesy, have you ever heard of loans? maybe Venkys subsidiary company loans?

Man U were signing loads of players at one time, what is their debt, Glaziers cant cover the debt!!

They may not be concerned about the protests but they are definately concerned by the meeting with both the FA and PL.

I think maybe you should decide on financial commitment after all transfers are completed Hughsey. We may give big wages to Murphy n Best, but let's look at who we sell / release too. I see no spending to match anywhere near monies recouped so far sine Venkys took over. And let's not include debt paid off, because I just do not believe that.

They have clearly not invested the sums of money they promised. They have also got rid of many high earners and sold some of our best players for good money.

I would say this indicates they don't have much money.

Brilliant post, the sheer short sightedness of some is ludicrous.

Oh good, we are back to this.

After 109 pages, we've not moved on.

I'm surprised and disappointed that it was Steve Moss who played the stay away card, as I've a lot of respect for him as a poster. However, I'd argue it's a lot easier to stay away when you live 1000s of miles away and don't have any decision to make.

Well to put perspective to my feelings, I can walk to ewood park in 5 minutes from my house and still wont be going. ST holder for 15 years but its the right decision. I myself won't be made a fool of by people and in particular one person who has the arrogance to not care 1 iota about his primary customer base.

Thanks, Stuart. I also think you are a quality poster.

I concede that you have a point. It's easy for me to advocate boycotting as I don't have the temptation of Ewood Park around the corner. At most I'll catch one or two matches in London or Manchester this coming season and, depending on work, might not even get that.

In my limited defense, I have deviated from past practice and no longer buy shirts and odds and ends from the club shop. I still pick up Rovers gear but now I get it used on Ebay.

And I'm not ripping on fans who decide to attend matches. They are loyal Rovers and I cannot criticize them. On the other hand, low attendances have two direct impacts on Venkys:

1. Embarrassment as empty seats are the most telling visual of fan discontent with Venkys' incompetent.

2. Due to relegation, gate and merchandize revenues will become, or has the potential of becoming, a greater percentage of the club revenue now that the Sky money tree has been lost. This means over time fan discontent can be a valuable financial lever to use against Venkys or whomever our owners may be in the future.

Currently, I think no. 1 is the most likely to influence Venkys in the short term. Boycotting fans coupled with a few poor performances in the first few games should see the end of Kean. I hope that Kean's days are numbered, though appointments such as Agnew suggest the hope is a forlorn one.

No. 2 is not yet the lever it will become as reportedly the debt is paid and a new line of credit from an Indian Bank has been extended, but the sooner fan money dries up the sooner this lever comes more prominently into play. It's simple economics.

sorry don't think we'll see the end of kean for a while as hes surrounded his self with Agnew + shaw .

The only hope is a dream of a takeover ( as it seems who ever owns the club won't sell )or the club goes into admin with paying top dollar IE : Murphy , Dunn , pederson , etc if we don't go up at the 1st attempt that will be become a very close possibility with reduced income , etc paying them kind of wages in the championship is financial suicide

I think many have been saying this for ages now, but the only protest left to fans is to vote with your feet, simple as that. The protests last season were poorly attended, the club spun the line its only a minority, the media bought that line, so its now time to show the media, that ones that are interested, that its not a minority it’s a good share of the support that are disillusioned with the events over the past 18 months.

Empty seats is whats required and plenty of em!

Agree with the comments above. Imagine if no home fans turned up for the first game at Ewood, even just the first half. That would send a clear message, especially if accompanied by a press release beforehand for the reasons why. It might not achieve anything with these owners but will embarrass them and is surely worth a try. Will never happen though.

If the attendance is around 5-7,000 it makes it easier for Kean etc to spin it as the fans not turning up because we're in the championship.

I'm rather looking forward to having every saturday free to do things I love doing like fell walking, camping, boozy afternoons in manchester etc etc

I haven't even given renewing and the implications of not attending for the first time in 25 years a 2nd thought. I couldn't give a stuff about not going in all honesty. Thanks Venkys and cheers Kean

Just as an addition to that.....

A compromise for those who profess to hate Kean and the Venkeys BUT feel that they must go to Ewood and who previously sat on the Riverside......... Move to another stand!

For those behind the goals at either end shift across and fill up the seats on the JW stand side and leave those on the Riverside side empty.

It should make for a great spectacle

What a literate, polite and well brought up young man! Thank heavens he's staying.

A sweaty late at night on tour....... He'd be p1ssed up I imagine.

btw his only other bolt hole was Rangers and we all know that wont happen now dont we.

I think that this is a real worry, as Matty has rightly pointed out many times over the past few months, people will find alternative ways to entertain themselves in the name of a protest, once away from the weekly football fix, it’ll be extremely hard to attract those supporters back.

From a personal perspective, I stopped going before Christmas due to the goings on down at Ewood, I’d paid for my season ticket but I only attended 2 games from December onwards. Saturday afternoons consisted of having a close eye on the score whilst walking in the Lakes etc, did I miss it? Occasionally, but in the main I was content not to be going.

I’ll consider buying a season ticket again once Kean has departed, hopefully he’ll take that idiot Agnew with him also, but other protester may not be so forthcoming.

Can we not collectively, with all the action groups etc, put together a statement from all fans addressing Rovers that if they sack Steve Kean then we will all come back but until he is then the crowds will be lower than what they have predicted?

It would be great if it was read out on SSN and all radio stations etc

I think we are clutching at straws a little here. If VenKean do not bat an eyelid to the myriad of poor results, lost finances, relegation, protests, songs, letters, emails, articles, plus spectators at games home and away venting their spleen, a few empty seats won't bother them at all, especially if the seats occupied are the more tolerant, less vocal, older fans anyway.

I think we need to understand that whatever the fans do, little will change with the decision making processes within our club. This is the only part that is easy to understand.

Should results go badly at this level, then we may see change, but even then I would not hold your breath waiting.

As a fanbase we may not be able to bring about change in the current climate, but surely its also about having personal pride, not allowing those idiots to have an impact on your life, your weekend, your bank balance.

They may have the ability to impact on the football team, but you have the ability to remove yourself from their clutches, and many people are doing that.

The above is the best I have heard for a while and would publicise our plight even further ..but would venkys/agnew/keanscum take any note probably not but would put the fans in a better light with the media...

I agree, this is a good idea. It would also mean we get in there first with an explanation about low attendances, before Agnew/Keanscum blame it on playing in the Championship.
