Stick or Twist this summer?

  1. 1. So stay up or go down should we keep Super Steve 'Coco' Kean at the helm for next season??

    • Keep - But only if we stay up
    • Keep - Even if relegated
    • Sack - But only if we go down
    • Sack - Even if we stay up
    • Just like a puppet I have no opinion

I got a reply to an email I sent "Steve Kean" (not sure if the email address is legit). Asked whether the club were aware that Goodwillie was going to plead guilty when they purchased him and whether Papiss Cisse was ever a target. (I know these weren't major issues we have but just wanted to "test the water" to figure out if the address could be legit)

"Ever since signing David he has had thiese assualt charges hanging over him, plus a seperate accusation. We felt as his employers that because he hadn't been accused whilst being our player, and the incident wasn't football related, that we take a back seat and let David take his own actions and have absolutely no input as to what he chooses to do.

Demba Cisse was never a target for us in the summer even though there were rumours, I'd ear marked the Yak but couldn't free up the funds until transfer deadline day."

Seems to suggest we never had much money last summer if the address is to be believed. [email protected]

DEN... How can you say we never ruffled United feathers?

De Gea had a great game with two brilliant stops. One from Hoilett and one from Olsson. We also had a goal disallowed and some other chances.

On the other stuff I agree. NO PLAN B, same tactics all throughout. The main difference between the teams. A manager who could put on Ashley Young and a manager who only had 11 players available.

He had his tactics set up right.

Although I can easily tell Eric Black has played a significant role in our turn-around in recent weeks.

Doesn't change my overall assessment of Kean BUT he's done well from Liverpool onwards, and has been less naive. If his hands weren't tied behind his back so to speak, I think we could've had the squad to have possibly changed 1-2 of the results. Lack of subs January onwards has been telling.

Done well? We are in the bottom 3 with seven games to go.

Our expectations really have dropped.

I said he's done well since Liverpool onwards. Stats prove so. We were garbage until then. He's done well since. It doesn't mean he's turned the world on his head. But if he did as poorly as he did until that game, we'd have been on 17-18 points now. Doesn't mean Im happy and doesn't mean Im deluded.

If we somehow avoid relegation people will regard this season as successful in the end. And they'll continue to say the Kean "has turned it around".

I despair.

Of course the mainstream media will say that. A section of apathetic fans may also say that too.

If we separate Kean from Venkys and consider them at independent entities then from January onwards the conditions of which players can play or not have been horrendous. No manager should be forced to face those conditions. Probably no manager would stay at such a club, which is why Kean is tied with Venkys at the hip.

Because we never got really stuck into them. We allowed them to pass and retain posession at will. Nzonzi/Ped/Lowe never let Scholes et al know they were around - ala Mokoena, Savage and Hughes era.

You cannot separate Kean from Venky's. He is as much a part of the mess as Venky's. You could argue he is the main cause of the problems as he appears to have total control at Ewood. He has contributed to, or even created, the 'conditions' at the club. For some reason he is unsackable, he was given a massive pay rise without any justification by an owner who seems to want to strip significant costs out of the club. Serious questions need to be asked about the power and control that Kean wields and his role in the destruction of OUR club.

Just spoke to a colleague of mine who is a United fan who is actually able to discuss on a normal IQ level. (very few of them!)

He was very nervous and felt that Rovers was going to sneak the win until they scored the first goal.

I also think we saw some "in the face" gameplay when we battered Phil Jones a couple of times. Some tackles from Olsson's, Orr and Peds.

I really do wonder what part Kean plays on a matchday. In all seriousness he appears to do absolutely nothing on the touchline. He never gives instructions, very very very rarely converses with anyone, and has forgotten that subs are allowed in the modern game.

I often wonder whether he takes team-talks now, I really can't imagine that he grips the attention of the whole dressing room.

It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall of our dressing room, before, during (HT) and after the game

Obviously can't say for certain but I've a sneaky feeling De Gea would have saved Valencia's shot.

Alway's been one of Robbo's weaknesses, unable to get down quick and often dives backwards. To be fair it was a pearler of a shot, wouldnt have expected it and probably saw it late due to the speed and power.

19th game we've lost under Kean this season. 19 bloomin' games.

The one truly damning and pathetic statistic that sums up Teflon's reign to a tee....he should have gone months ago when we still had a chance of turning this situation around and we all damn well know it.

That 19 lost games figure is certainly going to rise into the 20+ bracket. If you had told me before the season that would have happened, I wouldn't have believed you SG - even with this buffoon in charge.

That is an appauling statistic.

Chatting to a United fan at work, he is astonished at how Kean is portrayed in the media compared to how much the fans still dislike him. He saw the bodyguard/driver/police/stewards needed to 'protect' Kean from the people shouting at him and realised that what the rest of football hears is not the case. I think this is the most annoying part of it all.

Th emedia are doing a number on Rovers. No other Prem manager would get away with such an awfull record.

King Kenny is getting more stick than Kean at the moment.

for any pundits out there. STEVE KEAN + 2 SEASONS + 2 RELEGATION DOG FIGHTS = NOT VERY GOOD AT HIS JOB.

Unfortunately those 6 will get their wish PB.

The way this club has been ripped apart in 16months is incredible! My passion is fading fast, never ever thought i'd say that!

I think the same thing. If/when we are relegated Venkys will keep him.

It's obviously for financial reasons, but they would be mad to keep him on if he relegates us. He is already extremely unpopular with the majority of Rovers fans. If he relegates us and keeps his job, the attendances next season will be horrific.

Every job I have ever applied for has specific criteria, essential criteria or desireable criteria. If you do not hit this criteria you are not even shortlisted for an interview.

Generally the essential criteria states required experience in a similar post (normally at least 2 years)- does (one of) the most jobs at our club not follow this procedure?

And also more importantly we have constant reviews on our performance and if you are not hitting targets there is the standard procedure to remove underperforming staff. Either this also doesnt apply, or his target(s) is/are to be in the championship with no recognisable squad within 2 years.
