Stick or Twist this summer?

  1. 1. So stay up or go down should we keep Super Steve 'Coco' Kean at the helm for next season??

    • Keep - But only if we stay up
    • Keep - Even if relegated
    • Sack - But only if we go down
    • Sack - Even if we stay up
    • Just like a puppet I have no opinion

Heard speculation this weekend that discussions already ongoing with Coco about contract extension.

Mischief making, wind-up merchants, or sadly correct, I don't know, but heard it twice now.

I fully expect Kean to be given a new contract in the summer to give the fans a two fingered salute. There is no doubt Kean will stay as long as Venky's stay. I expect a long contract so that Kean will be protected if new owners take over and he is sacked (which will be the first act of any sane new owner).

If it does happen then we need to seriously question the motives. The action would go far beyond a normal employer/employee relationship and rewarding success. It would almost certainly demonstrate that Kean has some kind of a hold over the Venkys.

Have their ever been owners in football like it? Yes, their have been other examples of corrupt owners, useless owners... but this lot? They seem to revel in doing the very opposite of what is required every step of the way.

I've got it on good authority that his contract actually expires this summer.

Still not renewed yet. How can anyone reconcile continuing to give money to Venkys' club if they give Kean a new contract?

Really struggling with that one.

Doesnt Kean own a part share in the club ?

I thought Kean signed a new contract in November 2011?

Think he got a large payrise he'd been promised but said himself there was no extra time on the contract. So hopefully it's true but i would not get me hopes up yet

Are you mocking the plethora of ITKers on this messageboard?

Or are you serious? (please be serious)

No I'm not mocking, it's come from an established non-bitter player so I've no reason to doubt it but just thought I'd pass on the potential good news. Sort of confirmed what was rumoured previously that had he been sacked the owners would have to pay a fortune (why this was the case I don't know - maybe there was truth in the rumours of him being financially connected in some way/maybe not). Only time will tell in terms of the contract length I suppose, he'll simply either go in June or sign another extension before. Personally, I don't see where the sudden investment will come from though in terms of a new management set-up though so I wouldn't get my hopes up.

Kean is the perfect manager for a Venky's-run club. Subservient, a glutton for punishment, no reputation to destroy, connections in the media... no reason for them to release him whether we go down or not.

Raos should look at Everton to see where we could have been. At the start of the season, man for man, I thought we were better than the Toffees. In that early game at Ewood we dominated (and lost).

But somehow Moyes has them in their usual 7th.

I believe the answer to this will be a big fat, 'Zilch!', but is there absolutely nothing that the Joe Bloggs minor shareholders or even Stanners, Lee, Root, Jeffries, Straw, (best leave the Baroness out of the list) can do to veto any alleged contract extension?

It could be a rumour put about purposely in the hope of gettin a few more people to sign up for the early bird, thinking he may be gone in summer.

It would be a very strange circumstance and miniscule advertising campaign if your theory was true.
