Robbo Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Last time I went to West Brom away I went to The Vine. I seem to remember lots of chicken tikka being cooked on large bbq's in the pub. It was a few years ago though...

Clitherover Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Just to put that pub into context.... Wow, what a s***hole. If that's the sort of establishment on offer I think I'll drink in the ground.
Mattyblue Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Come on clitherover, that's what away days are all about!
A cup of beans Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 sadly (or happily) depending on the result, i'm going to miss the trip to the hawthorns (on a stag in estonia!). Absolute minimum, 4 pts needed over our next 3 games (wba, lfc, swans). I fear anything less we'll be really up against it! getting 3 pts at WBA would be huge!
Clitherover Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Come on clitherover, that's what away days are all about! True but there's dives and then there's dives, I'd be worried about never coming back out of that pub if I went in.
jim mk2 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 What a sad sight. It actually looks a decent building, and must have been impressive in its heyday surrounded by decent terraced streets full of working-class folk all of whom had jobs and worked in local factories. Then Thatcher and the 1980s came along.......... Getting back to Saturday I'll probably be making a last-minute decision to attend so does anyone know if it is possible to pay on the gate ?

adopted scouser Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Just to put that pub into context.... Royston Vasey ?
jim mk2 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Deliberate ideological destruction of communities and manufacturing industries by a right-wing government. Yeah, very funny.
imy9 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Bought my two tickets, looking forward to it now, hoping for a repeat of last year.
Mattyblue Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Deliberate ideological destruction of communities and manufacturing industries by a right-wing government. Yeah, very funny. Shame Wilson and Callaghan bankrupted the country and we had to beg to the IMF for a bailout.
Doug Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Shame Wilson and Callaghan bankrupted the country and we had to beg to the IMF for a bailout. And more recently Brown and Blair! Let's hope Ball's never gets the chance!
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 There's something disturbing about the picture of that pub. Maybe its the way the black clouds are rolling over it and there aren't many other buildings about. Make a good set for a post-apocalyptic film.
Mike Graham Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 And more recently Brown and Blair! Let's hope Ball's never gets the chance! the 3 B's.....sounds like a good name for a brewery.....mind you Brown, Blair and Balls sounds like the old pi$$ up in a brewery adage.

SAS Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Massive game this, thought we would have had a decent following. On the train for this one and will be drinking in Birmingham near to snow hill station as west bromich is a dive.
Ricky Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Good food down there though Scotty. Think I went to the Desi junction previously. There's also another pub with an outside area which has always been fine for away fans.

Having inherited the mess left by Heath and the 13 years of Tory misrule 1951 - 64 before that. Now explain why the Thatcher govt's destruction of the north of England economy (from which it has never recovered), the attack on the working classes and 3m unemployed in the 1980s was in your opinion funny ? Three tickets for the match arrived this am - I'm feeling optimistic and I think we'll win.

We never had it so good between 51 and 64.

philipl Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Will be arriving at the Hawthorns Station about 1pm if anyone is around then. Got to get my ticket at the ground.
