I see " Cains Brewery " in Liverpool is to close. Asians owners there seemed to have done a " Venkies ".

Very sad. A brewing co you may want to search out is PRIVITEER from Manchester. They are doing some interesting beers. RED DUKE 4.8% is really good.

I tried a beer from Cheshire recently called NIMROD. Brewed by WORTH BREWING COMPANY which done in a British Legion Club. Only 3.8% but a cracking beer.

Received a gift this morning from Tiny Rebel brewery from Newport in Wales. 6 bottled beers, 2 each of URBAN PALE ALE 5.5% - HADOOKEN 7.4% (heard there is a band of the same name) BELGIAN GOLDEN STRONG ALE 10% (This one not even on their website yet)

This is a brewery worth keeping an eye on. Tried their beers on tap at Sussex beer festival in Hove this year. They are a fairly new brewery, who have just got their first tap. Beers are slowly hitting beer festivals.

I hope the beer is better than the band:

LOL I am not much of a music person.

Thank God it is part of my job to search for micro - brewing co & beers - and not bands / music.

Tiny Rebel beers are on the lines of Belgium beers imo.

Jaipur made an appearance at The Continental, Preston, on Wednesday. It will be gone by Monday though.

Jaipur does not last 24 hours in the either of the clubs I work in. A really good and popular beer.

Any folk going to this years Great British Beer Festival? 13 - 17th August.

I will be there on the 13 & 14th and on the 17th. I had booked to go on the 17th as I presumed I was doing my managers (who is my best mate also) shift on the tuesday, which is the trade day. He then told me that he was taking me on the trade day as well as the following day, wednesday. So going 3 times. About 900 beers there this year.

Just remember, Peter. You don't have to try them all!

Be a genius if I could.

Went to The Great British Beer Festival yesterday, at London Olympia. Very good day. Had some terrific beers.

Hot Dog 5% by Binghams (Chilli flavour at the end)

Orange Wheat 4.2% by Green Jack (Fantastic little beer)

Blackfriar 7% by Invealmond

Lion Hart 4.2% by Sadlers

13 Guns 5.5% by Thwaites

Sunrise 4.4% by Bristol Beer factory

Thai me up 3.8% by Irving

Corncrake 4.15 by Orkney

Anastasia Exile Stout 5% by Ascot

Courage Imperial Russian Stout 10% by Wells & Young (I considered this far better than Greene Kings 5X)

5x 12% by Greene King (folk had to queue for this beer and were limited, for obvious reasons, to a third of a pint.

I hadn't been to the GBBF before this year. But it was really good. The beer, food, atmosphere. The loads of folk who volunteered to help run the event. No trouble whatsoever. Well worth attending.

Sadly I can't make Peterbrough due to work commitments - But hearing that is an event alos worth attending. This starts this week.

The Butcher in Great Harwood is currently selling eight cask beers plus Erdinger wheat beer. Some of todays were:

Arizona - Phoenix

Pride Of Pendle - Moorhouses

Bad To The Bone - Bank Top

Deuchars - Caledonian

Wainwright - Thwaites

??? - George Wright

+ 2 others

All £2.50 a pint.

A very good pub with a large, well kept beer garden (formerly the bowling green) with views of Hamledon.

The Forts Arms has been so busy, there's hardly any beer left today.

Bottled beers

Hadouken 7.4% by Tiny Rebel

Urban IPA 5.5% by Tiny Rebel

Fubar 4.4% by Tiny Rebel.

The club is an RAF association club. The reason for this festival is to raise money for the RAFA Charity (wings). It is also a time some folks remember the battle of Britain. Ironically when we were planning the festival. Tiny Rebel brewery paid us a visit. Discovered what we were doing and donated 4 firkins (288 pints) of beer and 300 bottles of beer. Reason I mention that is there are many negative stories about various brewing companies, nice to have a positive one for a change. There beers are dam good as well.

As a club we have just picked up 3 camra awards

South East Sussex club of the year

Sussex Club of the year

Regional Club of the year (Sussex & Surrey)

Crikey Pafell, I don't think there is one beer on your list that I've had before - pity your club is so far away!!

Congrats on the awards too - hope the festival goes well
