BuckyRover Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Interesting. The choice isn't great but I think I'd take him over Redknapp. If only to see arrys face
beerwins Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I hope he gets it, the man has more public grace than that soggy saggy face old fossil.
blue_n_white99 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Redknapp is a dodgy barrow boy, I wouldn't let him run the tea fund
Backroom DE. Posted April 29, 2012 Backroom Posted April 29, 2012 I wouldn't mind seeing Roy as England manager. Certainly preferable over 'Arry.
roverandout Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 at least he has experience of international management
A cup of beans Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 WBA have confirmed they have accepted an approach from FA for Roy Hodgson.WBA Official Site Excellent news. Hodgson is the best candidate available. Experienced in international management and would be a good ambassador and figure-head for the England team. I'd love see 'Arry's face right now! Cannot stand Redknapp, and his sycophantic media cronies! Redknapp is over-rated and wouldve been shown up tactically on the international stage! The FA may have been put off by Spurs' demand for compensation. 10-15M!
Amo Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I have a feeling Redknapp doesn't truly want the job in the first place. The England job is a poisoned chalice. A well paid one at that, but all the same.
Mercer Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Nice chap is Roy. Had opportunity to share a couple of glasses of red with him whilst at Rovers. Would take him every day of the week over Arry.
miqaayil Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 i thought the FA was approaching Steave Kean ...
Andy Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Excellent news, he was my first choice. Vastly experienced in European football, widely respected and has international management experience. None of the other candidates come near him, in my opinion.
bradeagle Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Im just worried he is burnt out - he has had a couple of shaky spells on his cv
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted April 29, 2012 Moderation Lead Posted April 29, 2012 The best English manager out there IMO, and he has international experience. I'd sooner have him than gobshite Redknapp and his media army.
rover2000 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 i thought the FA was approaching Steave Kean ... He would have been first choice but there were 60 million people ahead of him.
Hughesy Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Should only appoint the best, and the best isnt English
roverandout Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 steve kean was on the shortlist along with ian dowie, phil brown, les reed and mike bassett but the guy who made the list was quickly recaptured and sent back to the looneybin!!
jim mk2 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Hope I'm wrong but I'm usually dead right on footie matters (ask the humiliated GAV and MarkBRFC1971) but I think Hodgson will be a disaster as England manager. A manager needs the hide of a rhino to be England boss and Hodgson is far too thin-skinned. A couple of defeats and the press will give him a hard time and Hodgson cannot, repeat cannot, take criticism. Poor appointment.

I won't bite I have to agree with Jim, on Hodgson, the press got him sacked at Anfield and he simply won't be able to survive at national level without the backing the gutter press, sad but true.
McClarky Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I like Woi but suspect that Arry"s mates in the press will be on his back from day 1.
BuckyRover Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 They are already sharpening the knives. Apparently Redknapp is the people's choice (not the medias obviously)

Yep, "a team full of Pedersens would be top 4 every season", wanting John Williams out, "Allardyce will get West Ham automatic promotion without a doubt" etc etc. Genius. I think Roy will be OK, hopefully he'll be the one to dump the so-called golden generation and give the younger players a chance.

I agree but its a shame that our golden generation flopped to spain's among others platinum generation
Dunnfc Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Great manager, some times things dont click for managers and players at certain clubs but hes done well where ever else he has been. Good Luck Woy
Ferrit Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 I personally would welcome this appointment as it means they won't be laying a finger on good ol' Keano, afterall he must have been on the shortlist.
