[Archived] Blackburn Rovers v Wigan Athletic

Our fans should be very proud of themselves tonight. Made me proud to be a rovers fan.

Relegation was coming for a while. But now let's get rid of Venky's and rebuild. It is my firm belief they will go in the summer.

Absolutely devastated.

Its just horrible that this whole situations has come due to the actions of a group of people who do not care about this club at all.

(Please don't use that word again) the lot of them.

That Mark Chapman on 5 Live is a prize d1ckh3ad. Tried all night to slag off Rovers fans. Savage slapped him down more than once

Thought 5Live have been on the money tonight. Savage and Chapman have managed to convey most of the Rovers fans opinions post match at least. Dont blame Orr for his comments, Kean gave him first team football at a premier league club, not surprised that he's grateful.

Bradley Orr claims Kean is a great manager, best ever, etc. Then when asked why we're relegated - "I can't put my finger on it" well a whole lot of fans were chanting it at you tonight you thick tw@t.

From an article on VG.no, Norwegian newspaper (rough Google translation):

The Blackburn fans were searched before being allowed in, due to fear of attacks, but some must have failed in that job (chicken and banners reference). There was also a large police presence in place at Ewood Stadium in fear of riots after the match.

Throughout the fight, there were mass demonstrations against Venky's and manager Steve Kean in the stands, with cries like "We Want Venky's out" and "Stand Up If You Want Kean out."

In fact, the Blackburn fans' "Kean Out" chants drowned out the Wigan fans cheering for the goal.

TO all the fans that went, to the one who smuggled in the chicken, to all of you who made banners, to all of those who sang your heart out against the regime, and to the ones who ran onto the pitch, you have made me extremely proud today.

It's hard to feel anything at this present moment in time.

Tonight was simply a formality. We deserved to go down. The fans didn't, not by a long chalk, but Blackburn Rovers as a footballing entity are paying for 18months of complete and utter neglect. What begins now is a rocky road to perdition.

The worst and saddest thing about it all is that the owners, the people entrusted with the welfare of this great club, didn't do a single thing to prevent this.
