Cross your legs. Problem solved.

Enjoy the K2 fallout Gordon.

I will. I'm meeting both my accountants tomorrow. ;)

btw Do you believe that all the people who have used the K2 scheme are Conservative voters? Personally I don't but if as it seems you do how are you going to explain away the fact that it was Gordon Brown's brainchild when he was Chancellor in the Blair government? Can I also remind you that you once described Gordon Brown as the best PM this country has ever had?

In my case don't be so presumptuous. You have no idea what my religious or non-religious beliefs are.

I do when you spout off about em.....

Merely a little dig at you in regard to biblical references. It was after all you who began using the biblihaver referenced. I have no particular religious views and I'm not poor. Though we only have two toilets.

Just continuing the biblical theme. James 2: 1-4 - im sure you won't need any help with the meaning.

We already know you dislike the poor, foreign nationals advocate bullying and violence, I feel we can safely add bigotry to the list.

I think they are more likely to be Tory voters because if they are like you they are pernicious and greedy. Your friend Cameron's on very shaky ground singling out Jimmy Carr when according to reports his own father was evading tax years ago. I cannot stand Danny Alexander but I had to applaud his stance yesterday when he said all tax evasion schemes would be closed and tax applied retrospectively. I hope you've saved up enough to pay your dues otherwise you might have to sell off one of your toilets.

As expected you made no comment on Gordy's sole input into the scam scheme. I knew there wouldn't be.

Your highly developed selective amnesia appears to have taken a turn for the worse Jim.

Or indeed the fact it's this government that are looking at closing these schemes down and collecting the tax. Labour did what about them...?

Different times, different circumstances. The noughties under Labour were a time of prosperity. Now that lower and middle income earners are being squeezed the focus on the rich evading tax is a rightly a huge issue.

Ah, so it was right for Labour to completely ignore the tax avoidance schemes but now they are not in charge anyone using them should be named, shamed and vilified. Smacks of double standards to me. I wonder where Blair's money is....?

Why should there be? You didn't ask a question of me but I did of you.

I wondered about that too.

btw Jim is not guilty of applying double standards.... he's guilty of applying MASSIVE double standards. He obviouskly assumes that everybody who reads this mboard is either thick or possesses the memory capabilities of a goldfish.

As far as I am aware the only politician to "name and shame" a tax evader (Carr) so far is Cameron - for which he has been roundly condemned even by members of his own party. Cameron imo picked the wrong target which should have been Gary Barlow - but then Barlow is a Tory supporter and was awarded the OBE recently. I'm in favour of all tax evaders being named and shamed - as Cameron sad, they are worse than benefits cheats.

Be careful. Big difference between tax avoidance and tax evasion. Tax avoidance is completely legal under the terms that no government including the ones that had been in power for 13 years bothered to close.

I'm aware of the difference between the two. The problem for the rich now is that (legal) tax avoidance schemes such as K2 are being scrutinised and slated for closure because of the country's parlance finances and because they are quite rightly seen - even by the right wing - as unfair when the vast majority of the population are paying their full share of taxes and suffering from a squeeze in incomes. However for every high-profile Jimmy Carr that is shamed into pulling out of these schemes there are thousands - the Gordons of this world - under the radar who will continue to try to avoid paying their fair dues and as Cameron said, are morally reprehensible. As for the corporate and high-net worth tax evaders hopefully they will get hefty fines and end up behind bars.

Well out of order that.

I can get out of very little tax liability in truth. Protective clothing / footwear being about the extent of it. Damn well wish I could when I see what is squandered by the government.

Come to think about it it sounds like I'm paying much more tax into the country's coffers than you. How is it fair that you can pisspaw around underachieving all your life and then expect me to subsidise you. I've inherited virtually nowt so any income I generate is down to my own efforts. How can you think it fair that your ineptitude and weakness is subsidised by my industry and application? You're like a bloody tapeworm.

For anybody looking to change UKIP seems to be the party in the ascendancy these days.

Small wonder too given the sh1t that we have to put up with with all those bone idle dodgepots who have a shoreline on the Meditteranean. If we're funnelled into another 'do' with the Argies I can't see any help or even support from any of that lot of ungrateful garlic munching surrender monkeys thats for sure.

Speculative and wrong. But nothing new there.

:wstu:

You mean speculative and right! Check the dates.

Foot in gob as usual by you. You never ever learn do you?

Ha. I was just about to post: how long before UKIP are labelled as a racist party?

In the US, people of all creeds, colours and religions unite behind the National Flag. Over here, we have to whisper that we are british (small b.), and our national flag is viewed by our own nationals as a symbol of racism.

Shame.

Just the BNP with a collar and tie.

Repeat it often enough Tyrone and you might just convince yourself.

I've got to say it does appear that old Farage has struck a chord with the silent majority. Talk to people in any office any workplace any pub etc etc and you will find an awful lot of people who agree with their politics..... much as you no doubt regret it we do still live in a democracy of sorts remember? UKIP are nicking lots of Conservative votes so I see a move by Cameron to regain those votes as the only way he has forward at this stage. I bet he doesn't half regret being so disparaging about them in the past. It was very poor politicking indeed by him. He misread the grasss roots feeling in the country. He needs to realise that he might have to be in bed with them in two years time.

As David Starkey and Victoria Cohen intimated on QT last night: We've tried peaceful protest and violent protests aren't wanted. The people will protest by voting because they simply don't trust the 'closed shop' that is the top 3 parties.

And quite frankly they're all Right-Wing anyway, so why is UKIP so much different from the Tories? Apparent honesty. Farage has done something none of the other parties have done, which is get on the street and LISTEN to the people.

Right now UKIP is the only credible party imo. Even the top 3 are as credible as the Standing-At-The-Back-Dressed-Stupidly-And-Looking-Stupid Party.

Spot on Stu, over in the states the stars and stipes hangs from every veranda, and over here several nutjobs queue up to be offended.

And for what it's worth I've always remained right of centre, but QT last night I wanted to slap the Gay off David Starkey, pompous irritating poof.

He was quite irritating over several things last night, but I think the initial point he made right at the start (and Cohen following up) was absolutely spot on.

The US is as divided a nation as anywhere else, so I'm not sure if their ultra patriotism and chest-beating "U S A" chanting has really achieved much.

Immigration aside, can anybody explain UKIP's policies in any great detail? I've read snippets on the BBC but their policies seem wholly unrealistic and seem to be based on the assumption we won't be in debt if they ever take power - both scenarios admittedly being highly unrealistic.
