So if the BNP went out and spoke to people that'd make them instantly preferable to the conservatives and labour too?

UKIP's manifesto is a joke. It reads like the Lib Dems did before they snuck into half-power - a ton of good looking promises made on the basis they'll never actually have to fulfil them.

Well the BNP is racist, so no.

Given what we currently have, I'd rather find out whether UKIP are worth a damn than stick with any of the 3 major parties. Lies, lies and lies.

What makes you think UKIP aren't lying?

People thought the exact same about the Lib Dems, and look how that turned out. These groups can promise the Earth when they're little more than protest parties, but put them in a position of real power and they suddenly can't do the majority of what they claim. I don't see how UKIP's policies are achievable considering the country's level of debt, but I wouldn't imagine they've given a great deal of thought to that.

You probably thought it was worth finding out wether Venkys were ' worth a damn ' as well. The end result will be the same. An omnishambles.

Yeah, because I had a chance to vote for them.

Just because I'm leaning towards UKIP it doesn't mean I intend to vote for them. By virtue of the big 3 lying to us, UKIP seem to be the only option, but for now I'm in the spoiled vote category.

The devils we know are contemptuous hypocrites. Osborne parking his 50k range rover in a disabled bay has put an end to any thought of me voting tory, labour aren't even left wing anymore and Clegg @#/? me and many pals over on student fees.

Ukip or spoiled vote are my options. I'm waiting to be convinced on ukip but I'd go for them over the others. Tho it depends on where our candidates lie ofc.

It makes very little sense you bemoan Labout not being left wing anymore whilst considering voting for a party who are to the right of the Tories.

Sounds to me like you wasted your dosh on your student fees. Your comments make no sense.

That goes for just about every political party, tbh.

All politicians since Saint Margaret are the same, and the parties pretty much.

I with Connolly, the desire to be a politician should stop you from ever being one.

I think the answer to that has to be yes! It is the duty of all prospective MP's. They are the elected representatives of the voters in their constituency. How can they represent anyone if they aren't prepared or worse can't be bothered to speak to those voters?

There must be a reason why I've never seen BNP candidates canvassing on the doorsteps. By george, I've got it - they know any decent person would politely tell them to take a running jump.

Whilst I wouldn't ever vote BNP, I do agree with this point.

Why bother voting for an MP if they take your vote for granted, couldn't give a fig about your opinions and are only interested in the Westminster gravy train? By letting these types in, all you are doing is further widening the gap between the rulers and the ruled, and creating the 'Westminster bubble' where pretty well off people have no experience or exposure to everyday life. And it is even worse with the crazy, unaccountable and inefficient paralell universe that is the EU.

How on earth are UKIP economically similar to Labour?

They want a flat rate of income tax, significantly bigger spending on the military and prisons, they want to do away with employers national insurance...it's this sort of misinformed rubbish which has given UKIP so many votes.

Sounds good to me. :tu:

Just as an aside SR how come you are so interested in UK politics? I don't care a fig about yours in Australia. Some liberally ginner from Wales being in charge is the sum total of my knowledge of your lot. You don't live in blighty and are simply called Syd are you?

Why on earth are you so fascinated by my location? You've brought it up more than once when I've discussed UK matters. I grew up in Blackburn, lived in the UK til I was 26, moved out here 18 months ago and am most likely moving back to the UK next year. So I'd say that gives me a pretty good reason to be interested in UK politics.

I was TGM on here previously..

Surely UKIP's rise is just a protest vote against immigration? Which I strongly agree with personally. For pretty much no other reason than the country is too crowded. The population density is becoming absurd and we'll all start to see our quality of life begin to drop if the rise continues at its current rate. Well I say continues, thats probably inevitable now, the only thing that can be done and should be being done is stopping it accelerating.

Ukip just perpetuate all the usual myths about immigration. For instance, statistics show EU migrants contribute more to the public purse on a net per capita basis than British-born people and use public services more lightly. They also occupy more private rented accommodation than council social housing. And as for the great overcrowded island myth, this piece reveals that 98% of Britain is open space!

We have your precious Labour to thank for the immigration crisis here in the UK.

There is no immigration crisis - only a perceived problem in the eyes of the uneducated working class and right-wing media.

Jim's quite right. We've got an un-employment crisis and a housing crisis. Guess who sowed the seeds of those two ? I'll give a clue, she died recently.

Still very bitter I see despite the fact that the seeds were sown during the dark days of the 70's when the communist led unions held sway over successive British Governments and it now being a full 22 years since she left No10 and despite 13 years in office recently for Labour to reverse any of her legacies which they did not even attempt to do.

Tell me Tyrone what would be your preferred politics? Socialist? Communist? Marxist? You can be honest cos we don't know who you are.

When you have done that then could you and Jim explain to me how it is healthy to have a population that we cannot possibly feed and by an absolute country mile should any sort of unforseen disaster strike.

Posted

Well, I am centre left theno. What are you - Nationalist, Fascist or just good old Extreme Right ?

If Britain cannot feed its population in the event of a "disaster" then the whole world is in trouble. A young, growing and vibrant population (which Britain has) is however an economic boon.
