Just listened to that portion of the programme which I missed. Very disappointed to hear Battersby claiming to have been 'sickened' by the 'abuse' Kean received against Bolton. What a load of sh*te. If our own apparently lucid supporters are propagating this nonsense then what hope do we have?

Once again I tend to agree with Battersby. To me if you sing "Kean Out" that's acceptable and no more or less than he deserves. If you sing Kean's a w***** that's entirely different and crosses the line into personal abuse which only serves to foster sympathy for him in many quarters when judged purely on the basis of his record he deserves none whatsoever.

But Rev, he is a w********.

Personal abuse? He's basically just lied to us for the last 18 months, he shows no signs of remorse, no humility, and is totally out of his depth. At any other football club than this he would have been sacked months ago (and with his CV would never have even got to interview stage at another Premier League club IMO). All that for £1.x Million per year?

To hell with the sympathy. The lids being blown off this farce.

Calling someone a w***** isn't 'personal', in fact it's decidedly impersonal.

This whole 'deeply personal', 'horrific abuse' is simply being used to besmirch fans.

When people are saying he's received 'death threats' in a matter of fact way, even without backing it up, the mud still sticks.

Unfortunately people like Battersby and other Rovers fans are legitimising the slurs, which makes it even more damning. I hope whatever he is trying to achieve is worth disassociating from and demonising fellow Rovers fans.

One thing I didn't get .... Battersby talked about the "Doomsday Scenario" of the Raos taking the proceeds of a summer fire sale and posting the keys to Ewood back through the door (this has been my major concern) ... and yet earlier he seemed to allude to being a potential buyer of the club. Wouldn't giving the club away be the perfect scenario to facilitate his plans?

I picked that up too but having compared notes with others who listened they all seemed to think the doomsday he referred to was the fact that they were going to sell all the players late in summer (to get their cash back) and leave us threadbare with little time to act before the season starts and the first window closes which puts us behind the 8 ball straight away. In which case its seems a fair point TBH

Absolutely :tu:

People just seem happy to be constantly lied to by this idiot and his masters in Pune, he is a w***** simple as that, no need to debate that subject, and thankfully he’ll be left in no doubt the way people feel after Mondays game, 1% eh Kean? you w*****

Picking up a club with only Academy players in it after the new season has started in August would hardly facilitate anybody's plans!

He was saying that as the Championship season "is quickly upon us" and the fact that this summer has the Euro Championships it may delay the buying of players until late in the summer. This was his Doomsday Scenario.

Pay me what Kean's getting paid, and I'll happily sit there and smile while 20000 people call me a w*nker.

The fact is that when you are in that sort of position getting paid that sort of money, you need to be able to roll with those punches. "Personal abuse" my arse. I get worse from my own mates down the pub after a bad joke.

I guess it depends upon the circumstances in which it were to happen ES.

Hypothetically if the Rao's slipped away quietly on Monday morning prior to any player sales, without taking any of the parachute money and sold the Club for a nominal quid that would be brilliant for any potential purchaser.

On the other end of the spectrum the worst possible case scenario would be that they sell all the decent players, pocket the proceeds, take the parachute payment when it arrives and post the keys the day after leaving their successors no time or working capital to attempt a recovery next season.

Don't think either scenario is likely. The noises being made by Kean seem to indicate they think rightly or wrongly they can retrieve the situation. It's clearly never going to happen with him still in charge of the playing side though.

And you believe kean because......

I don't have any particular faith in either Kean or the Venky's turning things round based on their record to date but I do think they probably each have such a high regard of their own abilities it's feasible they genuinely believe in their own minds they can do so.

I'm hoping Kean is in for a nasty shock sometime next week when he receives his P45. We'll soon find out.

Very impressed with Ian Battersby. More sense from him tonight in 75 minutes than 18 months of utter nonsense from the current manager and owners.

Also heard him on 5 Live last night just after 7pm. They had a piece on Rovers following Coco's latest pack of lies which included Scudamore from PL side of fence. It is on 5 LIve i player just after 7 . He seems to have a decent grasp of it as you say.

Battersby certainly does, and was definitely doing his best to lay down the line of it not being the fans fault.

However, there is one thing that perplexed me and it was his statement re Samba being a nightmare to deal with over the months prior to him leaving with him then saying that there was nothing else they (wonkys) could have done then left it at that. He did reference Barclays in there but seem to lay blame at Samba's size 12's and didn't raise further course to say why Samba felt the way he did.

Now I'm not for keeping players that don't want to play for a club which was in agreement with what Battersby was saying, yet he didn't give any credence to Samba being one that actually spoke out about what was happening and who certainly still gave his best on the pitch, which I found strange given the anti wonkys/deluded one stance he carried - it seemed like he knew more to the situation than he was telling.
