Today's press conference has proved yet again (as if further proof were needed) that Steve Kean, even in the wake of his team's relegation, is a man lacking in tact, principles, integrity and, yes, even dignity. He is not a serious man. He is not a professional man. The cold facts on which his reputation is truly based - his record - would suggest that he isn't even a football man. His job performance has been atrocious, his leadership just as bad. His ability to inspire and to carry out the basic functions of football management have been woefully exposed. It would appear that he cares not a jot about any of this.

His craven, inept and borderline psychotic leadership have brought this once proud club to its knees. The owners are, of course just as complicit (if not more so), yet Kean has exploited their naivety, their ignorance and their indecisiveness for no other reason than to massage his bloated ego and to augment his equally swollen bank account.

"I'm here for the long-term" he claims. F**king right he is. His financial future depends on this job. His name is in tatters, no matter what platitudes his fellow managers utter gleefully in the press, and from here on out there is not a lucid, right-thinking football executive in the country who will award this man with any authority beyond the bibs and cones.

To portray him as a lunatic is to give him too much credit. He is nothing but a common trickster, a fraudulent excuse for a professional in an outfit now shorn of all professionalism. His refusal to accept blame, to admit his mistakes, to even acknowledge the reality of the situation may indeed smack of deep-rooted psychological maladies yet I find it far easier to accept that he is simply an utter charlatan who, along with a perfect storm of fellow criminals, has cynically brought about the destruction of an institution beloved by many but treated by those who make the decisions as nothing more than a casual experiment, a mere plaything.

Kean, the owners, Jerome Anderson, Paul Agnew - with the willing co-operation of their enablers in the national press - have caused this chaos ostensibly to increase their personal wealth but, depressingly, simply because they could. What's perhaps most tragic is that the people who saw this coming, the supporters, are the only ones with the passion and willingness to right this wrong. Yet it would appear that they are the most powerless element in this otherwise sordid affair. The only way that they have been able to voice their concerns, to demonstrate their anger, has led to them being castigated and, ultimately, rendered apparently irrelevant.

The death knell of this club has been 18 months in the ringing. There ain't very long left.

That is one of the finest posts I have had the pleasure to read on this site.

Kean looks so smug because in the space of two years he has gone from a complete and utter nonentity of a coach 3rd in command to Sam Allardyce to having the safest job in football despite being proven to be the worst manager in history.

No matter what happens he is laughing. EVEN IF he got sacked he can retire into the sunset. If he keeps his job then he can earn some more cash, keep his face on TV and in the media and try and turn around his failed career.

I actually think he is deliberately trying to wind up supporters and the media with his comments. He knows full well he has lost 99% of supporters for good, that most of the other employees at Rovers want him out and that the dressing room want him gone too, so its a case of sticking two fingers up at all these people and saying 'you keep on trying to get rid of me cos it ain't gunna work'.

It really is bizarre how just about everybody with a shred of credibility, honesty and respect in the game has been forced out of the club - Allardyce, McDonald, Williams, Finn, Goodman, Matthewman, Pincher, Williams Jnr, Hunt, Jensen, Nelsen, Salgado, Roberts, WEC group, Crown Paints, Northcote, and now thousands of loyal supporters, the list goes on, and the only person out of all of them that I actively wanted out was the one who lies, cheats, backstabs and is altogether an abject failure at the job he's paid to do. The 'innocent' explanation is that it is purely him taking advantage of Desai's lack of knowledge and exploiting their relationship to strengthen his position at the expense of ANYONE who says otherwise. The only other explanation is that he is more than 'manager' and with his agent there is something else going on here. Its one or the other and I'm finding it increasingly hard to believe all this misery is down to Desai not listening to the advice of her family and other friends and instead listening to one man she has only known 18 months and who has already shown to have failed.

I don't agree that all the decent people have left the club, plenty have but there is still undoubtedly plenty left. People for whom it's a job they rely on too - people for whom losing their job with be life changing.

Amen to your second part though. When Steve Kean gives interviews, he gives them to one person only; Desai Venky. Don't forget that Desai, at the end of the day, is a manager. He says the type of stuff manager's want to hear. From Steve Kean it's all; yeah I know we did bad, it wasn't me though, it's was for this, that, and the other, but it's going to be good, good, good from now on. I'd guess he'll bum lick like crazy and tell her exactly what she wants to hear when he goes over.

The fact that cannot be denied is that he has lied to her though. He clearly hasn't told her the truth because everything he said would happen, didn't. And everything that Paul Hunt said would happen, has happened. It would be pure stupidity to carry on believing Steve Kean therefore.

The Venky's are no doubt panicking like mad at the moment. They bought something they thought would at a worst case be peripheral anyway to their main interests. But now Steve Kean's ability to be remarkably stuck to his job like that bloke used to be in the advert for Solvite wallpaper paste, has now become a major media concern, even reaching India. They're ain't no shakin Steve off! But the world is watching and wondering why. The only logically conclusion seems to bad management. Steve Kean lying to Desai is now making Venky's look bad in a big way, globally, because it's an interesting story and there seems to be only one conclusion. Steve Kean's reign surely cannot continue for much longer therefore. Thankfully.

Don't ever forget that it was Jerome Anderson who sold this dream to the Venky's as well. His company have no doubt made a fortune from their Blackburn Rovers relationship. Pounds signs no doubt flashed before eyes when this deal came up - they wanted to sell this for the bumper increases they would see in their bank balances. Did they therefore keep some risks and details from the Venky's? You'd have to draw your own conclusions for that. Whatever happened, it all looks pretty rotten when the consequences are considered.

I don't necessarily think we should be blaming the Venky's - not as the main culprits. They are a successful business at the end of the day, and they work in a particular way. It seems that may have been getting duff info. If you watch Steve Kean and wonder what planet he is on, it's because he isn't talking to you or me, or anyone else sat at home, he's always talking to Desai Venky. He knows, as we now know, that she is the only person in this that matters.

I guess we can just wait and see what happens come Saturday.

Wish Cryer, Winter or Martin Blackburn would elaborate on the following points in an article pretty damn soon:

Big Sam, a respected and experienced football manager, was sacked when Blackburn was 13th in the table.

Steve Kean, an unknown coach who's never managed a football team before, (1) replaces Allardyce (2) gets a new and improved contract in November 2011 when Blackburn is at the foot of the table and on their worst EVER run of form in the league, and (3) keeps his job when Blackburn is relegated to the Championship.

HMMMM, probably nothing to do with the SEM/Kentaro link!

All we know is he is a "7th Dan" karate expert and good to chat to.

Its all bullshot - the guy is his driver needed as Coco is a plonker. He's heavily armed with a spanner and a tire pressure guage but is an expert in putting ###### up Jocks to bed after a night out in Clitheroe.

Wonder which form of Karate he's a 7th Dan in? I've asked a few people who work in personal security and they didn't know.

I consider myself to be pretty up to speed with Non Verbal Communication (NVC and body language).

Believe me, KEANSCUM is lying. The shift eyes, the fidgeting with his fingers, the low lips, the unwillingness to answer direct questions and change the immediate topic, the furrowed forehead. ALL classic signs of lying.

I would love for him to actually come with evidence the team is playing for him.

I would love it even more if he could evidence he knwos what he is doing.

I would love him to explain his awful playing record and the teams current stats performance wise.

I would love to know how he can explain the current win to loss ratios and the fact that ever since he took over we have done nothing but drop to the foot of the league.

I would love how he gauges the clubs own supporters claims for him to be sacked.

In fact I would just love it iof the bald headed clueless lying tw$t would come out and tell the truth.

KEANSCUM OUT

The majority of other clubs' fans seem to have changed their tune with regard to the tw** Keano, which makes me feel slightly better:

I have never, in all my years as a football fan, come across a more obtuse and brazen individual than Steve Kean. The man has, simply, not an ounce of personal dignity or, as we say, blood in his body. Any other manager, made of sterner stuff, would have gracefully turned and walked away a long time ago, knowing how vilified is. Having experienced unspeakable agonies as a Leeds United supporter, my sympathies are firmly embedded with the long suffering Blackburn faithful.

- Leeds fan

repulsive, shameless lunatic.

- Chelsea fan

this muppet and owners will be screaming come august when they sell 2000 season tickets to the die hards and then sack everyone other than this no mark mug . feel so sorry for blackburn fans , why doesnt the league step in aint they supposed to pass a fit and proper owner test.

- Tottenham fan

Hunt clearly deserves to be sacked as he appears to know what he is doing. The Venky plan seems to have a massive focus on employing people with no understanding of what is going on. Kean fits in so well that he might even be ready for promotion to Chief Exec. That could open a position as manager that the cleaning lady could fill. It is now getting suspicious as to whether the Venky's are inept or consciously destroying the club. Why though?

I will be honest, I had some extremely dark thoughts today, and I would describe myself as rational.

I cannot begin to imagine how the similarly blue blooded irrationalists are feeling right now...

He'd better hope one of us doesn't become terminally ill as I'd hazard a guess to say he'd be on someone's hit list to take with them.

How could they not after reading that? They've pushed it too far this time and they will come to regret it. The comments have been damn right disrespectful

Not meaning to ###### on your chips, but isn't the premise of NVC that when someone lies, there are clusters of body language which go against how that person usually acts or reacts? As far as we can tell, Kean's always been a shifty fecker ;)

One of my tutors (a very keen Rovers fan) has been studying Kean's for a few months now and Thenodrog's comparison of Kean to Hitler isn't far wrong in terms of profile! Godwin's Law, eh?
