[Archived] Steve Kean's Future Set To Be Discussed

Recommended Posts

Wash your mouth out Stephen!

Steven or, better, Steve. My family was too poor to afford a ph so they opted for a mere v.

Probably the biggest faux pas you could make on a football messageboard.

Faux Pas is my middle name, Steven Faux Pas Moss.

Well done Sam, would have liked to see Blackpool back, but better for us they remain so that we can play them. Would like to think the irony of WHU getting promoted would play on the minds of the Raos, but that is probably beyond them. I realise the WH fans have their reservations about him, but at the end of the day it's a results based game, and BFS knows it inside out. Man vs boy methinks.

I think Kean might have been offered a position in India with the academy.

1) A few days to think it over with wife.

2) Go home so he can suggest idea to kids.

It would explain the lack of comment from both sides; he is undecided until the family have decided together.

Just my guess.

Fits with Andy Cryer's thought in the LT

Ian Holloway please.

Just watched his team play some super football.

Post match interview, brutally honest - what a change.

Would be like a breath of fresh air for Rovers.

Develops young players, makes experienced players better.

What more can you ask for.

Kean was offered a new role as head of 'international academies'

Uhm which Football agency have and or have involvement in International Acadamies ? Wonder where the woman who knows nothing about football got this idea from?

More like the deluded one is talking to lawyers to see if he can get constructive dismisal

Honestly can't see him working for Venkys.

Put yourself in his shoes and give one good reason why he should leave Blackpool for Rovers.

Although it would take a big shift in policy from our beloved owners.

Working with the Oystons would not be a tea party either I imagine.

Can't remember his exact closing words on the Sky post match interview but they did give me hope he would move and perhaps all is not that well at 'Pool.

Lots of football chairmen like Holloway so of the offers he is likely to receive if he leaves Blackpool what makes you think he would pick Rovers ?

Get real.

I think you well know this is the difficult question and the crux of the matter. Putting aside our feelings about Kean we have to recognise other than he and Silk there is no senior management at the club.

Everyone, probably including all the Raos, want Kean out BUT do you sack the ONLY football manager in the club? Who takes training etc. etc. I know it's close season but there is still one hell of a lot to do. With KO on 18th August I guess pre season begins early July - just six weeks away.

For me the management structure has to come first. No point in having a CEO who can't work with a newly appointed manager. Without a CEO a new manager is in the same situation Kean worked with. We cannot have a manager who has to fly to Pune to discuss every possible signing etc.

Without the structure we cannot go forward. With Kean in charge we cannot go forward. How can we sign players? Talk about running round in circles!

I imagine finding a chairman is tougher than finding a manager but think it must come first. The obvious thing is to ask Tom Finn to return but I doubt he would come.

Fully appreciate what you're saying Paul. I don't disagree that the structure needs rebuilding - ideally - first of all. Problem is, that could take an awful long time, and even then the right people might not be put in place. So do we just leave the club as it is, with season ticket sales down around the 6/7000 mark, allow Kean to dictate the next transfer window, see staff at the club unsettled by Keans continued controlling status, or do we just say "well he's not good enough, fans are walking away in droves because of him, - so he has to go, full stop. We must find another manager and we'll sort out the boardroom ASAP?

These are the problems we have, that no-one outside the rovers fans appreciate. Everyone thinks this is just about a manager and his results.

There are probably legal things to tie up.

Could also be tactical- to maximize the press opportunity.

Kean getting sacked, on the same day as the Play-off and European Cup Final, would generate little coverage.

I'm not letting Cryer dampen my expectations.

The silence from Kean is very telling! He'd be all over the press if he was staying as Manager!

Holloway wont be at Blackpool next season but to think he would come here is absolutely insane, if people are still hoping he will come just forget it because he would'nt under these owners.

It does'nt matter if the owners want him, the guy has morals, pride and is not afraid to speak his mind, the complete opposite of lapdog Kean.

I am real, very real.

Firstly, Venky's will know that the management structure HAS to change with the manager reporting through the board. If they don't do this, they might as well keep Kean !

Secondly, relative to Backpool, we have a first class stadium, training ground and an academy, at the moment, producing the goods. That must be good enough to get even a fossil headed Labourite like you salivating !
