[Archived] Steve Kean's Future Set To Be Discussed

Why would people consider Rovers over Blackpool?

Better squad

Top class academy with LOTS of young talent

Almost double capacity stadium

Spent 18 years of 20 in the premier league so you would class us as an established premier league side prior to relegation

Bigger wage bill/ flexibility

Probably double/ treble his current £200k wages

Its a step up in terms of club, regardless of the madness behind the scenes at the moment.

Get a new manager in & Get a chief exec who runs day to day things at Ewood AND things start to look much better.

Venky's, that is the only but overrridng reason that Holloway and his ilk would turn us down.

Fully appreciate what you're saying Paul. I don't disagree that the structure needs rebuilding - ideally - first of all. Problem is, that could take an awful long time, and even then the right people might not be put in place. So do we just leave the club as it is, with season ticket sales down around the 6/7000 mark, allow Kean to dictate the next transfer window, see staff at the club unsettled by Keans continued controlling status, or do we just say "well he's not good enough, fans are walking away in droves because of him, - so he has to go, full stop. We must find another manager and we'll sort out the boardroom ASAP?

Of course, we need a proper management structure with a new board and CEO (and probably new owners). However, no matter who is to be appointed to these positions or whatever the circumstances, it will never be acceptable to keep Kean on as manager. Therefore any new CEO or board would have to be mandated to remove him. So, in the immortal words of Annie Desai, why wait ? Appoint an iterim manager as a temporary measure if necessary to take training etc, but get him out now !

He works for Oysten or whatever his name is....so im not sure.

Didnt Kamy say his advisors said his interest in the job would depend on Blackpools result today? Never say never!

In any normal organisation, Kean's HK rant and the pursuant legal case against the club would be reason for dismissal for cause.

So what makes Rovers so totally abnormal???

Weird. By their reluctance to pot Kean after that outburst the slumdogs have inadvertantly backed his outburst and effectively taken us to gutter level.

He lives in Weybridge, Surrey. Just rents up in north somewhere. Not been seen at Brockhall's since trip, doubt he has been near the ground either.

Given its the end of the season he might not come anywhere near Blackburn for next 2 weeks, assuming he has not been potted. I only hope he never comes back again.

They won't appoint Holloway, they want someone who will "toe the line", presumably this is why kean's had the job so long, he never rocks the boat.

I don't trust vnky's and I don't trust their judgement, and I don't think this club will stop falling until Venky's go. They are the real problem.

Sorry, but we have so much dross.

Our squad being good is a myth - this was pedalled for much of the season until it eventually dawned on the fans.

I don't see the big deal about it. It's only what everyone else was saying about him after the Panorama programme.

Our squad is good it depends on the manager....Villa have a good squad but not under McLeish.....players like Albrighton and N'Zogbia were pretty terrible on the whole......amongst others.

If the tactics employed don't suit the players then it is extremely hard for them to play well. I never really rated Robinson anyway but look at him this season under Kean compared to him previously......like at Chelsea with Petr Cech under AVB.........Look at Salgado under Allardyce then Kean.

IMO we had our strongest squad this season since Hughes left. Every player needs an extended run in the team.....look at Hanley when he was given one. Every time Formica would start influencing the game heavily he wouldn't be seen again in the middle for 2 weeks. Petrovic was looking a good player once he was given a run in the team until the Arsenal debacle where I doubt we even had a game plan.

Pedersen, Martin Olsson, Goodwillie, Rochina, Formica were all often played out of position. Goodwillie is not a lone striker (and defo not a winger), he relies on link up play with a fellow strike partner. Rochina plays off another striker.....he would beat the full back then had a long way to the goal so would continue dribbling.....playing as a 2nd striker he would be able to beat a man then would be forced to pass or shoot. Olsson is never a full back, gets caught of position often and is much much better as a winger.......Pedersen done a job in the middle like under Allardyce 2 seasons ago.

Marcus Olsson isn't a good player and neither is Modeste but there was no need to play them........Where was Henley? Vukcevic? They both impressed me quite a bit each time I seen either of them......Goodwillie and Rochina should of been played a lot more often.

I rate Yakubu, Givet, Hoilett and Nzonzi also very highly. With the latter 2, if they sign for top clubs this summer they will look substantially better next season and not just for the players around them.

Kean and Venky's are 99% of the reason for us being relegated.

That's 6 good reasons I'll grant you, but here's 8 good reasons why he wouldn't......
