DavidMailsTightPerm Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 And reading between the lines it doesn't sound like there is a relegation clause in his contract. In my opinion he has run his race as a Rovers player. This would be interesting - because I don't remember seeing anything about a new contract since the Venky's took over - so I would be surprised if John Williams hadn't inserted a relegation clause (or it will have been poor of him if he hasn't)

Rover_Shaun Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 To be fair to MGP his set pieces created most of our goals last season either directly or indirectly. Is that a bit like saying a players square pass in the 3rd minute indirectly led to a goal in the 78th? MGP's set pieces are rank
Ferrit Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Agent_ITK @Agent_ITK The Venkys are strongly considering selling #Blackburn football club. #Rovers #BRFC #Football heres hoping... That clown is as "ITK" as I am .... he was harping on all week saying Kean would be sacked on Wednesday, he said he'd "Put his house on it" no less.
bryan nelsen Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 How can anyone be in the know, when the people who should know, don't even know. I don't know.

Guest SuperAgentJB Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Is that a bit like saying a players square pass in the 3rd minute indirectly led to a goal in the 78th? MGP's set pieces are rank Huff... I would say that MGP's set pieces have been decent over the years, always dividing awful and inspirational. He took some awful free kicks and corners, the latest to stick in my mind that free kick against Wigan (shudder). Over the years his set pieces have to be considered as decent. If you look at our set piece conversion rate in the last 5 years, you probably find it is quite high. (even this season in relegation) Some of his free kicks and corners have been our side weapon for so long it is easy to overlook it. His early goals in a blue and white shirt may have dried up but his assists have helped us for the best part of a decade. This is the kind of person we should be heralding. Especially in dark days. One youtube search of MGPs goals for us can quaff a post SK interview depression(for at least 3 minutes anyway)

For all his deficiencies, Ped's was/is the best striker of a ball in the club IMO.
Mattyblue Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 To me his set pieces are still pretty good, it's his decline in open play that has been painful to witness.
Rover_Shaun Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 They may HAVE BEEN good but last season they were pish

Majiball Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 They may HAVE BEEN good but last season they were pish Was there any player who played to his best under Kean?
hesfromburn Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Was there any player who played to his best under Kean? Hoilett? The Yak? Hanley?
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Just the Yak for me. Hoilett put in about 50% effort all season and Hanley was the best of an absolutely awful bunch. Being considered the stand-out performer in the worst Rovers defence in living memory is hardly evidence of having done well.
47er Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Hoilett? The Yak? Hanley? Hanley "yes", Hoilett hot and cold, Yak "yes" Were there any who didn't play to their best under Kean? Now where do I start............? Sadly with Robinson who seemed to put more and more weight on as the season regressed. But there were so many others.
bradeagle Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 You say Hanley played well under kean but i doubt it was for kean. He is a youngster trying to make his name in the prem (or was) think that is where he got his motivation. Not from kean mumbling and pointing at his inspirational signs in the dressing room
hesfromburn Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Hanley "yes", Hoilett hot and cold, Yak "yes" Were there any who didn't play to their best under Kean? Now where do I start............? Sadly with Robinson who seemed to put more and more weight on as the season regressed. But there were so many others. Robbo! Salgado! Dunn! Peds! Olsson! N'Zonzo! Suprised one of these players havent spoken out againt him, the list would have looked bigger but he simply didnt play some players
Stuart Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 I wonder if Kean's future is completely dependent on him getting Junior to sign a new contract instead of walking away for free? Maybe he told them categorically he would get him to sign or even get a large fee for him, or he will step down/sideways, and he's been given "one more" chance? I could well imagine the Venkys sacking him over a matter of principle rather than anything football related. Let's face it everyone else who has left or been sacked has gone for non-footballing reasons. Except maybe John Jensen. Personally (assuming his record wasn't part of discussions) I would have called him out over his failed guarantee of survival but there you go.

It is understood though Rovers have also started tentative talks with at least two Premier League clubs, with the player himself having already decided he is quitting Ewood Park. “Blackburn Rovers know he has to move on now to achieve what he wants to in the game. Now they are not in the Premier League he could not stay.”
bradeagle Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Best case scenario would be for him to sign a new deal, let him go out on loan for the year, get promoted and have hime for the season after...... Was that a pig i just saw.
Ferrit Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 But, but, but, Super Stevo said if he stays as manager, Junior would sign a new contract?
Stuart Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburn_rovers/news/9727224.German_clubs_lead_the_chase_for_Rovers__Hoilett/ Perhaps not Stuart, sounds like he is off and the club already know it. The fact Cryer reported him leaving when Kean was on India suggests it was a bargaining chip. Maybe he's got until June to convince him to stay. Hopefully he'll be potted once Junior leave. Brad, I think I just saw that pig you mentioned!

Hopefully if he hasn't convinced him this week, Venky's will sack him while he's on a beach somewhere!
Hughesy Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Of course he wants to stay. Who else in their right mind would be prepared to pay him the £ 40k plus a week he's supposed to be on. Not in the championship he wont be! Suprised one of these players havent spoken out againt him, the list would have looked bigger but he simply didnt play some players Im sure one of them will talk out very soon

davulsukur Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Is it not fair to say that he's pretty much on gardening leave anyway? I dunno to be honest, the whole situation is as clear as mud. There's a good chance he's always been keeping his job and Venkys are just saying give us a month to try and let the heat die down.
