[Archived] Steve Kean's Future Set To Be Discussed

Recommended Posts

Not against Lee Clarke, but at Huddersfield, he did more drawing than Tony Hart!

Anyway, this thread is about Kean. Let us wallow in his demise.

My fabourite memory of lee Clark was when he came to my school as a Newcastle player and wrote the lines " I will never play for Sunderland" guess what happened hahah

Tugay as assistant is my priority haha......wat a legend he is.

Gotta be Curbishley or Souness, with more realistic options of managers with a proven track record of getting teams promoted ie Billy Davies and Mick McCarthy.

If they get us promoted and it's not working in our 1st season back in the prem then we can get rid of them.....easy to say that now I guess but hopefully by that time we will either have new owners or anything resembling a board.

Don't want Shearer, Grant, Sven or Roy Keane.

If we can't get sum1 like McCarthy I think we should try our hands at a decent up-and-coming manager with a good record like Di Canio.

Mick McCarthy for me, experienced head, consistently got playoffs in the championship, tells it like it is.

+1

Out of all the available managers he is the most experienced and the least likely to take any bull, complete opposite of Kean so it would be quite a move by Venkys... but this is all conjecture

Chaddy, the profile would be for a youngish, hungry manager with a degree of success already and who has shown that he can work within a tightish budget, playing the right sort of football and, most importantly, has a winning mentality.

If this was 3 years ago, would have snapped up Paul Lambert in an instant. He personifies what I would be looking for.

no name tho???

Karl Robinson and Dougie Freedman fit that profile of manager you are looking for.

Lee Clarke would be my choice too.

Would want a long chat to him first to see what, if anything, makes him fizz. Not absolutely convinced when I hear him speak, sometimes, in my opinion, it's as though there's something missing - maybe a spark, an edge and perhaps not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

So Karl Robinson fits the bill then...or Villaboa?

Steve Bruce OR Karl Robinson with Glenn Hoddle as assistant manager wouldnt say no to Dougie Freedman either... he reminds me of Brendan Rodgers in his ability to inspire players and get them playing a simple passing game.

It's got to be Curbishley for me. Solid manager, no bullsihit. Start the re-building process. Diligent and honest. Just what us Blackburn folk are about. Am I getting carried away here thinking that Venky's will do something right?

"The breaking point is thought to have come when the owners questioned Kean's assertions that the majority of his players were happy at the club and would start the new season at Ewood Park"

I think if he goes Andy Cryer deserves massive kudos for this, in the second day we all heard the Hoilett rumour about resigning, Andy got onto the closest possible contact to Hoilett to get some clarification and got a story on the net within minutes about Hoilett leaving.

Going off his tweets and pieces in the paper since Christmas Andy has worked all hours non stop to get a break for the fans, I know it's his job but he has also gone the extra mile and he is not even a Rovers fan.

Good job Andy Cryer.

Next manager if Kean goes for me is Mick Mccarthy, No nonsense, solid, straight talking chap, I really need to see some honesty now after the lies we have heard, and if thats not enough.

I agree he's a good manager, much in Alan Pardew style but what has he done since 2009 when he left West Ham?

For me, Curbs wont come 'UP NAWF.' If he did, he would be doing a Nigel Winterburn -flying up and down. THAT **** STILL IRRITATES! <_<

Can we poach Colin W@nker away from Leeds ? :P

A couple of reliable sources telling me that Venketesh met Alan Curbishley last Sunday at the Royal Kensington Hotel, while Balaji prefers Holloway, but has been told by his reps that him being interested is dependent on the result tomorrow.

We can move to potential new managers once Kean sacking is confirmed (which it isn't at the moment). To get a decent manager almost certain that Venky's will have to change the way they have been working over the last 18 months, no chance any decent manager will accept the Job if Venky's don't change the way they work.

Anyhow, let's get Kean confirmed first and then move on from there.

Isn't he a Bristol City fan? It shows you how far your own club's fallen when you're jealous of Bristol City supporters

Not that I want to add to the hyperbole of speculation but I cannot see Mick McCarthy or Alan Curbishley being interested due to the situation with the owners as both have had their fingers burnt club owners previously. Curbishley is either biding his time for the right 'project' to come along or is still under some form of agreement following the West Ham debacle.

I would expect the owners to look for someone who is currently out of work rather than having to pay compensation, I would assume that if the rumours are true about Kean having turned down this alternative role they would have to pay something to him thus would be unlikely to want have to pay out compensation twice.

It's unfortunate that someone like Sean O'Driscoll has been nabbed by Crawley as he did a sterling job at Doncaster (prior to Willy Mckay et al turning up at the Keepmoat) on a very modest budget.
