Backroom DE. Posted June 28, 2012 Backroom Posted June 28, 2012 You can't take anything away from the Italians, they were superb tonight. Pirlo is a Godly player, world-class in every sense. The Germans just couldn't handle going 2-0 down. Until then they were in the game, but once the second went in they just lost their confidence and their bottle, no player wanted the ball, there was no penetration, they were reduced to lumping the ball into the box over and over and it didn't work. Looking forward to the final.

Audax Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Italy played well in the first half but I think that was a large part due to the tactical setup and team selection Low put out. Podolski has been a complete non entity in the tournament, no way he should have started. I think it was also a mistake to play Kroos, Low completely changed the central midfield and it just didn't work at all. Gomez up front was probably a mistake as well, Klose has better movement and would have linked up the play better which was clear in the second half. Germany will still be a force (perhaps more so) in 2 years time. Historically, Germany is in there every time except 2004 was their only dud of a tournament in recent years, I'd have to look it up but last world cup, semi-finalist, 2008 Euro, Finalists, 2006 World Cup, semi-finalists, 2002, finalists but I've got to think this hurts the psyche but they already have this consistency. Michael Ballack is the one who said both goals Italy scored had poor defending, that second one probably so. Just what he says, I'm not so sure.

ABBEY Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 I cant see a proper one . Who apart from Spain? Ive had a fiver on Italy. I GOT 14/1 on Italy and the sweep and 9/2 on Spain
Salgado Is A Hero Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Do you remember Hart missing a save or failing to make one as I cant Like someone pointed else pointed out Balotelli was clean through a few times and De Rossi should have scored when he skewed it wide. Italy took their chances tonight that is the difference. You can't compare how teams did against each other. After all we beat Arsenal and Utd last season. Looking forward to the final as well. Will be interesting to see how Italy line up. They have proved already that they can cause Spain problems so I would be surprised to see them line up with everyone behind the ball. But finals are often cagey affairs as both teams are scared of losing so we will have to wait and see. Pirlo was outstanding but De Rossi played very well again like he has all tournament. Want him to come to England, even if it's for Utd. Another semi final for Germany......their record in tournaments is outstanding.

Agreed, said the exact same to my dad whilst we were watching. Some of his passing was surreal, his vision and range is incredible. No matter how hard the Germans tried to press him he never lost the ball, and when they did give him space he punished them. Very much like Tugay in his later years, awe-inspiring to watch.
Aberdeen Blue Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Kraut keeper is gash, mad Mario just enjoyed the feast tonight. Forzza Azzurri!
Batman. Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Kraut keeper is gash Moron. The statistic that Pirlo hasn't lost a league game since December 2010 is utterly ridiculous. What a player.

Salgado Is A Hero Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Gomez is just a goalscorer, Klose makes the whole team play better. I don't know who I would start, probably Klose. His international record is magnificent....64 goals in 121 games. I doubt there is much better in world football. David Villa's is 51 in 82, that is ridiculous. I see Gomez as a Raul type player in which they can be anonymous for most of the game but then score 2. His 2 goals against Holland were superbly taken. The only 2 occasions that Schweinsteiger passed him the ball in that half and they were both assists.
Aberdeen Blue Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Moron. I take it one does not agree with my deduction, Tube.
Stuart Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Why wasn't Balotteli given a second yellow card for taking his shirt off? Is this a new rule, or just one which is only applied when it suits UEFA?
Aberdeen Blue Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Why wasn't Balotteli given a second yellow card for taking his shirt off? He was carded after the 2nd goal wasn’t he?
Lhrover Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 he did get booked when he took his shirt off. he took it off once. when he scored his second goal.
thenodrog Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I take it one does not agree with my deduction, Tube. Take no notice Aberdeen, that Batman is very bad mannered and frequently rude. If I was a betting man I'd put it down to bad breeding but I'm not so I won't.
Veevs Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Germany had a right disaster last night, knew it was over when they made the subs, like for like when they needed to change the system.. would of prefered to see Mueller or Schurrle and Bender (highly regarded defensive midfielder so why have Kroos on Pirlo) on, felt sorry for them but Italy played some sublime football and Pirlo, Chiellini, De Rossi, Buffon and Mario make for one hell of a backbone to any team.
cn174 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Another crackpot idea.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18657633
EwoodDawn Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Another crackpot idea.... http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/18657633 Found this bit really galling: "In these days of cheap air travel anything is possible." So shockingly out of touch - this year's Euros a prime example of how air ticket prices become astoundingly inflated once an announcement of a major event is made. Not to mention accommodation...
Mattyblue Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 A 24 team tournament over a dozen countries. Platini is as mad/bent as Blatter.
JAL Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Why wasn't Balotteli given a second yellow card for taking his shirt off? Is this a new rule, or just one which is only applied when it suits UEFA? Referees discretion

cn174 Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 CastrolEDGEfootball @castrolfootball Spain have played a lower % of passes forward than any other side at Euro 2012 (28.3%) #ESP #ITA
adopted scouser Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Whoever wins John Terry will help them lift the cup at the end
SouthAussieRover Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I'm liking the way Spain are attacking tonight.
Backroom Tom Posted July 1, 2012 Backroom Posted July 1, 2012 Yeah they are fantastic to watch when they play this way, still they can be dull to watch at other times I stand by that. Two superb goals tonight.
