Been quite lucky with tickets. Going to Swimming finals, Tennis semis on centre court and the 100m final. Although I'd rather not mention how much I'm paying for the tickets I'm definitely looking forward to it all. A mate who's seen the dress rehearsal for the opening ceremony has said that its really worth watching. Just trying to grab some track cycling tickets if I can.

I watch for the moments, not necessarily the competition....Mark Spitz seven golds, Usain Bolt blowing away the competition, Comananci's perfect 10, '92 Dream Team, Eric the Eel, Carl Lewis four golds, Micheal Johnson winnning the 200m and 400m, Kathy Freemans gold in front of 100,000 people in Sydney...

My favourite though, Derek Redman's father coming out to help him finish the race in '92, always brings a tear to my eye

They were wonderful sporting moments in my lifetime that I witnessed, people dedicating almost every waking moment for four years, even some knowing they are nowhere near a medal chance. Wonderful stuff.

Although the commercialisation of it is crap.

couldnt give two shites about the olympics, sick of every commerical using it in their advertisements, especially despise the BT one with the fake spanish accent,

i come from upshairs for oolympiccccs, you, how they shay have intonet cooonnection'.

The time for moaning was seven years ago when we bid for the olympics, these athletes have trained all their lives for this moment making many sacrifices along the way. They dont want to hear moaning minnies. Now is the time to embrace the Olympics and support these superb athletes.

Bring it on the Olympics, cant way for it to start. How fantastic it is that its here in London.

It's been amazing.

What a brilliant decision to have Danny Boyle in control. That homage to British music was as alternative as could be under the circumstances. Not a hint of spice Girls or take that!

And if someone had shot dizzy rascal it would have been perfect !

Maybe you should find something else to do with your Friday night then, rather than write on a messageboard about how you don't care aobut something.

In fact, why did you open this thread to begin with?

It's been a great opening ceremony, better than the bloody Chinese dancing around in fairy lights for three days. Well done Danny, pulled it off so far

I was loving the music thing until it reached 2000 and onwards but that was to be expected.

That was the only opening ceremony in any sporting event I have ever watched but it was quite impressive.

I wouldn't bother replying to roverandout.....I can never understand why people who apparently don't care about things, then go onto a forum that discusses those things to declare their apathy towards it......it's quite pathetic in actual fact and his comments would be laughable if you didn't know they were serious.

Anyway, I love the Olympics but this should be especially great this year as it's so easy to watch everything......we were only 4 golds behind Russia at the last one so it would be nice to beat them in that respect as there's no shame losing to USA and China.....as well as also beating Germany, France and especially Australia who were quite bitter if I remember correctly about losing to us the last time.

There's McCartney but what a mix up with the speakers or whatever it was

Fantastic show overall although I wasn't too keen on the choice of kids to light the torch, nice significance I suppose though :)

Cannot be arsed with any of it. OK go shoot me down....

Thought it was great, apart from McCartney, who now can't even keep up with his own backing tape.

Well done Danny Boyle.
