As anyone had the s.m.a.r t HDD virus on there PC? I've tried everything using Google to get rid of it

Any help would be appreciated

Ive got a virus on one of my machines that keeps sending a spam email to all my AOL contacts. I cannot get rid of it. Is it the same as this?

Note: I have not read either in too much detail so not 100% sure.

Last resort you could do a clean install of Windows

If possible do as much cleaning/scanning as you can in safe mode, also disconnect from the internet whilst doing it.

A system restore to a pre-virus state can also help - it won't get rid of the virus files, but it can remove the registry entries that cause it to start up.

If you're really struggling there are forums set up specifically to help people get rid of viruses - I'd suggest signing up to one of those and asking for help. I had a particularly nasty virus some time ago on an old PC that seemed impossible to get rid of - signed up to one of these forums and they helped me get rid of it within a couple of hours.

My son has got a virus on his laptop, optimiser pro speed guard or something like that, put a few hours so far in trying to source the bugger.....still no joy, gonna need a wipe i think.
