Scan tomorrow on his knee.

Will probably be at The Bridgewater Hospital, Manchester which the Manchester clubs use. The Consultant Radiologists there are sh1t hot and they are key in identifying the primary injury and any secondary damage which occurs very frequently in injuries suffered by sportsmen.

He'll be out for years, we're doomed.

Seriously however I was only trying to wind the Princess up. The reported non-swelling is a very good sign, so we'll see.

Hopefully just weeks.

What up with you these days?

Sky Sports understands Blackburn new boy Leon Best has suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury. #BRFC

I assume they are only judging that on what they saw, he hasn't even had a scan yet so they don't "understand" anything

Tom M understands Sky are either psychic or guessing again as his scan isn't till tomorrow

As stated earlier, if cruciate, I reckon it's his PCL. A skilled medic will diagnose with 80 to 90% certainty through examination and stressing the PCL. With the knee bent, the medic will push the tibia backwards and if it slides too far backwards, it's almost certainly bad news.

I would expect someone will already have a pretty good idea what the injury is. If he has a positive drawer test the only relevance of a scan would be to check for secondary damage as opposed to the primary injury.

By the way I think it's likely it is bad but pretty sure sky are just guessing as usual to be first to get the story

Unfortunately, on this occasion, I wouldn't think they are. The whole Rovers' camp would have known Fevre / Robertson's view by the end of the game and BRFC has been leaking like a sieve for some time now.

It could be a serious injury but talk of cruciate ligament is way to early. Best will have a scan tomorrow morning and that will give us a confirmed diagnosis. It appears that there was no swelling which apparently is not consistent with a cruciate ligament injury.

We'll know tomorrow. If it is a serious injury then it is a massive blow as Rovers were banking on him scoring the goals to get us back up, and are spending a lot of money on him.

Afraid you are wrong on this. PCL's often go, initially, undiagnosed as in many cases, at least in the early stages until further activity is undertaken, there is either little or no swelling. The skilled medic will know with 80 to 90% certainty on examination. A scan will confirm and, as an earlier poster commented, show any secondary damage which is quite common with a serious knee injury such as cruciate ligament or patella dislocation.

Ironic given the 'don't worry about losing friendlies, it's all about fitness' spiel from the club last week

What I will say about Best is that he does look a heavy lad, easy to injure with more weight in tackles

Posterior Cruciate Ligament is the ''hidden'' one in that the majority don't feel or hear a "popping" sensation in the knee after a PCL injury.

After a PCL injury, folk often think they only have a minor knee problem and try to go on with their usual activities.

Agree with this. PCL injury ended my football playing days and at first it did not feel like a significant injury and was not particularly painful. The problems soon emerged though as the knee became more and more unstable and ended with an operation that has caused me problems ever since. ACL is more common but PCL is potentially more serious for a footballer. If Best has inured his PCL he won't be playing for at least 4- 6 months.

Big, big, ill advised gamble.

I think nowadays it would be less than that providing it can be treated without surgery, many PCL injuries can, without surgery around 8 weeks and then should be playing, albeit around 20 minutes per game for three weeks ish.
