Anyone who has suffered serious injury at football will sympathise with his immediate reaction to a high challenge around the knee. Had cruciate ligament damage and cartilage injuries to both knees and it's no fun at all. I wasn't at the game, but what sort of challenge starts around the thigh or knees?

Doesn't excuse his lack of professionalism in regards to our plight, nor his disgraceful comments to fans afterwards, but that doesn't excuse the challenge either.

He didn't react immediately to a challenge for which the referee didn't award us a free-kick. He stayed down for a bit and then the ball went out of play. Only then did he react which must have been a minute or so later. I don't buy the excuse you have offered. He was totally unprofessional and stupid. His comments and trying to justify his action are an insult to every Rovers fan and symptomatic of the poor attitude far too many Rovers players have.

Like I said I wasn't there and there is no doubting his lack of professionalism.

Equally he didn't get those stud marks on his leg falling in a puddle did he?

But that happens in football. Most forwards will come off with bruises and stud marks. His knee injuries were not caused by bad tackles as he is alluding to. His injury during pre-season was caused without any challenge on him and I would guarantee that all his injuries have been caused in a similar way. He is just making excuses and playing the sympathy card.

I was chatting to a Southampton fan about him on Friday. He said he thinks of himself pretty highly, and gave a couple of examples of this. On one occasion, he needed to score a penalty to get them promoted and tried a fancy chip that was saved.

He said I would wait to judge him after a pre-season but I wouldn't expect too much. My Newcastle mate said he'd get us goals though. I'd rather play Goodwillie regardless tbh. Or Nuno Gomes or Kazim if any of them are still here next season if we stay up.

I watched him throw the mother of all hissy fits during a reserve team match at Southampton. Full on diva strop. Then he proceeded to get himself a red card as the players walked off at full time. Didn't see what for to be honest. Guess it was dissent. However, this was when he was very young and very well thought of.

The bloke was never worth the money we paid for him. Bucket loads of potential as a kid but like so many others he believed his own hype. One good season so far as i can tell. I actually think his sending off was the best bit of news yesterday. Maybe now we can see Gomes get a start. I know he's no target man but he links the midfield to Rhodes better than anyone else we've got and he has a knack of popping up in decent goal scoring positions.

what a prize knob

there has to be a kid in the youth set up at least as good as this scrote, bang him in the squad on recent evidence Best is utterly useless and on £30k???? Get some one in who cares, who wants to be here a bit of effort would be priceless about now.

100% sure Rhodes can only be happy this sad excuse can't play the last 3 games.

Footballers normal people chaddy ?? Really .. Do you believe this ??

They are supposedly professional athletes and have a bloody important game on Tuesday night and shouldn't be out . Imagine a professional boxer out on the ale the week before a fight .

You may go out after a game but its there JOB to be fit and be ready ...

They are allow to go out and enjoy themselves.

FFS, players are just normal people.

I go out after Rovers games and enjoy myself.

Football is just a job but a very well paid job tho.

Whilst they aren't "just normal people" at all, I agree with the overall sentiment of your post that it's really nothing to get worked up over. They aren't Rovers fans and in all honesty likely don't give a @#/? about the club or where it's going. They're just here to get paid to kick a ball around for 90 minutes once or twice a week. You can see by how most of the players perform they don't really have any professional pride and as a result there's no reason to expect anything other than abject failure from them.

There's no point putting these blokes on a pedestal, almost to a man they're losers, outcasts and nearly men. Whether they go out on the @#/? or not, this won't change.

I think tabloid culture give people the impression that footballers going out involves rolling out of a night club, getting plastered and banging some money grabber in a hotel room... Though there is nothing wrong with going out for a couple or jars with friends... It's not as if Best is going to play again this season anyway. He is a grade-A duchebag @#/? or not.

Talk some @#/? you at times. They also get paid, what, £30k per week and should/need to be at peak condition, especially at the tail end of the season and in the middle of a relegation battle.

They are the sacrifices you make as a footballer, something which half of our squad either don't care to do or are just very stupid.

True they're aren't Rovers fans but it's up to BRFC management to punish anything than goes against club policy and that would include non performance. Simply to turn out 90 minutes each week half heartedly doesn't happen in professional football.

Best can't play and Kazim is a muslim I think. I don't see any harm in them going out.

Actually isn't Kazim out of the season anyway?

no Kazim is back on Tuesday.

FFS. people on here are going way over the top about this. Most players will go out after a game, whether its a spending time family/friends having a meal or night out. or spending time with family at home. just like most people will do

this has been happening for years after years. didnt see anybody moaning a few years ago when Hughes was here and players were having a nightout with family/friends.

I think what people are saying is that after a humiliating defeat and three days before a massive game it doesn't look good. And if you were to bet who the players were these two would have been high on your list. The more dedicated professionals in our squad would, I fancy have had an evening meal, watched MOTD and gone to bed. I'm pretty sure that given our current situation with Souness, Hughes or Allardyce in charge it wouldn't have been allowed.
