rog of the rovers Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I remember Best's header in the FA Cup Replay back in 08 that knocked Rovers out of the cup!

Rovers_Dan Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 He's got pace and chases about a lot from what I've seen. Might not find the net as much as the yak but I'm hoping he'll bust a gut for us. He does remind me of a bit of a marcus bent type
neophox Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 If Best was so bad at Coventry, why did Newcastle bought him? He's only 25 and its the right age and I believe he can score 15 goals easy next season. I also hope Goodwillie get games in the championship as I think he can do really well there.akubu I've seen Best for Newcastle and to sign him for Championship is really good. We all know Yak wanted to leave when relegation loomed. So far no outgoings and possibly two incomings.
The Rover of Finland Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 If we sign Best it´s a major signing. He would be a starter for several PL clubs. I can see him scoring easily 20 goals. He is not Yak but we are not PL club either.
Ralfinho Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Best playing with Rochina will certainly demolish most of the championships defenses
roverandout Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 when i heard this news, i ran down to ewood to renew my season ticket, could'nt wait..NOT!!!
dubdubdub Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 We aren't a Premier League side so signing two Premier League players is surely a good move.
MarkBRFC Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Mercerman, why are you so desperate for the best signing not to happen? You exactly the same with murphy? It's a bit weird.
Hekla Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 People are negative when we are about to sign any player. It's boring.
bryan nelsen Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 when i heard this news, i ran down to ewood to renew my season ticket, could'nt wait..NOT!!! You sir, are a fool. Stay away If you so wish. Just keep it to yourself, along with your boring use of sarcasm. Yawn.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Got to be honest, I think the likes of Murphy and Best are as good as we can expect to get now we're in the championship. They're better than the vast majority of players in this league and I would have been pretty gutted if the likes of Bolton or Wolves had got them first. Can't complain in my opinion.
roverandout Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 thankyou bryan for your insightful analysis of my post...NOT!!!

I agree, tbh though I couldnt care less that Bolton are signing keef Andrews. I would have murphy all day long.
adsfortheblues Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 In my opinion £3million for this chap is to much and could have been spent on someone like Darren Ambrose with palace skint. However simple fact is we need strikers and fast and Best has experience in this league and if given a run and some confidence from 'his manager' he could well turn out to be a good buy
Damien Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 With palace being skint what do you reckon the going rate for Zaha would be? (null)
adsfortheblues Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 With palace being skint what do you reckon the going rate for Zaha would be? (null) Would love Zaha as a Hoillet replacement, but I fear he may move to a premiership team.
Ewoodbhappy Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Im hoping Best signs. He's abit of a lad. Would love for him to grip Coco in the dresssing room.
Mercer Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Mercerman, why are you so desperate for the best signing not to happen? You exactly the same with murphy? It's a bit weird. IF some of the wages / fees I've heard being 'negotiated', and I say that losely, are correct then it will be sh1t or bust next season. Absolutely unbelievable which raises two obvious points, why the feck the penny pinching last season and how the feck will it keep the rest of the squad happy when, for just one example, reportedly, the club is seeking to half Givet's wages to a level where he will be dwarfed by Murphy etc. IMO, utter nonsense - we run the risk of attracting football mercenaries only as well as committing financial suicide.

It's ok this is not gonna happen remember your mate in newcastle said.
Batman. Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 IF some of the wages / fees I've heard being 'negotiated', and I say that losely, are correct then it will be sh1t or bust next season. Well they won't be, will they?
roverandout Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 and if the players are here for the money, who says they will be motivated by anything else, could we really expect them to work their nuts off on a wet tuesday evening at barnsley?
Ricky Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Givet signed a contract which had a relegation clause in it.... We got relegated.... Has no bearing on the money being offered now. He signed that contract.
roversoutsider Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Mercerman, why are you so desperate for the best signing not to happen? You exactly the same with murphy? It's a bit weird. He said he could confirm that Leon Best wouldn't be signing. Just wants his prediction to come true
joey_big_nose Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Yakubu out, Best in? Looks like a major downgrade to me. Well yes. But we have been relegated and Yakubu just finished fourth top scorer in the premiership. Hardly surprising we are downgrading... Best seems like a decent Championship striker to me. On the whole the signing activity looks good so far.I just hope Venky's are putting their own money in to finance attractive wage packages and we are not mortgaging the club.
