I'm certainly no Victory fan (I follow the heart here) but i actually thought he was pretty good for them once he found his feet and and settled in, especially in the second half of the season. I also reckon he would've been even better next season with this year under his belt had he stayed here. I think he'd offer us plenty in the Championship but i cant see it happening anyway if his negotiations with Victory are anything to go by, he'll be asking absolute top dollar and Rovers will be more than likely be priced out of a move.

A League is played in warm/hot weather at walking pace. Maximum of 30 games in a season, very rarely play twice a week, Division 1 standard at best and not many hard physical players. Kewell took a while to settle in and eventually looked decent. But he should at this level. Paul Ifill stars in this comp. The best players in the A League are drop outs from the Scottish Premier League. Matt Mackay was a great A League player but bombed at Rangers. If that's the standard you want , then sign HK

To be fair I think there are a few a league players that are decent and a couple young blokes who will turn out stars. Amini is off to Dortmund, Leckie is at monchengladbach or however you spell it. If the aleague didn't have the stupid rules about marquee signings etc it'd be so much better. Vidosic and Marcos Flores (hopefully coming back to Adelaide this season) can both play. If Hernandez was fit he'd be a gun. Then you've got a few blokes from roar who are genuine. Sorry for sidetrack!

From what I heard last night he was training with us but he was not up to scratch and we would not be signing him. The story that was released in the Australian media was probably agent related. Well I hope so anyway, great player in his day but might just be past it.

He'll take a knock first time out and we'll never see him again. Old, slow, past it !

Without taking anything away from the bloke, who was a good player in his day, I can't see that he has the physicality to be competitive in the championship.

His year in the Australian A-League has given him a year at League Two standard - in which he was hardly impressive I have to say.

Anyone suggesting the Australian league is League Two really has questionable judgement unless you are saying that League Two is better than the J-League and K-League. The fact is that Newcastle United, Borussia Dortmund (2 players), Borussia MGB, FC Utrecht (3 players), Dinamo Zagreb etc have taken players from the league in recent history. Do these leagues even scout League Two or One?

As for Kewell, he showed last year that he definitely still had it. It did take him a few games to adjust physically but you try playing in the Aussie summer when it's over 35. To suggest any Aussie players are physically not up to the English standard is a joke and sures a complete lack of awareness of sport in Australia. Sure technique wise the players are inconsistent but the sports science and fitness training in Australian clubs is world class. A fact which contributed to Kewell not suffering one injury last season.

I think if you get him on a free and it would only be for one year, you could be pleasantly surprised. Last month we played Denmark in a friendly and HK was a class above on the pitch. He relishes the challenge that higher competition brings. So just reserve judgement until you see him for yourself.
