Firstly, I got a life and its more interesting than yours u boring person!!!

and now you are going on the ignore list NOW!!!

Good, should help with your headaches as less for you to try and understand now.

Talking of getting a life, how about you turn off the computer for a bit?

How the feck do you know it's on ? Like I said, I am an infrequent poster now and, like many others, care much less about what used to be our club.

Mercerman Is just a little attension seeker. He made a comment before about someone getting their facts right!! Haha nearly choked on my cornflakes! Basically MM pipe down and STFU cos you seem to be winding a lot of folk up on here!

Don't need any attention. If you don't like my comments thenm put me on ignore. I don't try to wind people up but if they want to take pot shots at me, then don't expect me to take them lying down - normally, I don't get 'personal' with fellow posters as recognise the right of all to express an opinion irrespective of whether it's considered good, bad or indifferent.

Hi,

I don;t want to take the thread off the topic of Jordan Rhodes however I realise that Huddersfield have players that you are not aware of but we are going to suprise many teams this year and my prediction is the we will be in fighting for or in the play offs come the end of the season. Ehy do I think this? because of the strength and togetherness of our team.

The spine if solid. Smithies ( I realise you;ve not heard of him but he is/was the England U21 keeper. I saw Joe Hart player for Shrewsbury at the age of 17 before his £600,000 move to Man city, Smithies is as good at the same age. Smithies is now 22 and will play for England in the future). Centevack, we've signed Lynch from Nottingham forest ( they rate him highly) to add to a good set of cetnrebacks we have. Centre mid we strengthed well ( this was our weakness last year), Southern from Blackpool ( tough tackling), Adam clayton, Leeds stand out box-to-box midfilder last year and olivier Norwood a young player form Manchester who nearly kept Coventry up by himself last year. Upfront genuine quality in Rhodes although could do with some other options.

Out wide we have pace and skill. Scannell looks an excellent signing from crystal palace we also have Danny ward was was very good past year fro us. We also have to excellent attacking and pacy fullbacks.

Over all, it is a young hungry, well balanced and together squad. Things are very bright for us at the moment and I look forward to a really good season.

Think you're being a tad optimistic there. Whilst you're correct that we've built what looks set to be a decent side at this level, I think we'd need much more strength in depth, to be able to predict fighting for the Play Offs; I know it could happen and I'd love it to, but it would take a lot of luck in terms of injuries and suspensions and players gelling together... What happens if one of Southern, Norwood or Clayton doesn't perform, or is out for a while? We've only got the likes of Robinson and Gobern to fall back on.

Blackburn may be getting the ###### taken out of them by their owners, but have a look through their squad and you see the sort of challenge we're up against this season. As one of the Blackburn fans said, if you were going to combine the squads and create a starting 11, I think we'd only have Rhodes in it (and Grayson on the sidelines). I too can see Blackburn struggling this season, mainly down to who they have off the pitch, but a struggling season for them would be a good season for us.

Negative spiral MM. Negative spiral. Big black clouds with acid rain eh?!

Not for me ! In a happy place.

Sat out soaking-up the sun with a nice bottle of red after a lovely lunch.

I respect all other posters until they break that bond of respect.

Why the feck people want to get so personal is beyond me.

We will play with 6 midfielders and the clown will claim that he discovered the tactic. Spain was just using his tactics. Also he reminds us all how he found Jones.

It was actually Scotland who reinvented the playing no striker tactic.....Spain copied it from us ;)

I agree entirely. But this is a result of the demands made by the current generation of fans. Not just at Rovers, but across every club in the land. Everyone expects to know what their club is doing in terms of transfers. Essentially most fans nowadays expect their club to play a real life game of Championship Manager. Every summer should yeild sweeping changes to the squad and sod the expense.

This is the real issue for me. There are very few Rovers fans who are hearing alarm bells at the sudden cash we're splashing out. Any that do are getting pelters for it. The majoritiy don't want to think about this because new signings = excitement and hope. I can't really argue against that theory because it is always good to see your club make new signings. But i am more than a tad suspicious at where this money has come from and more than a tad concerned that if it doesn't bring us promotion the club will be in some serious trouble.

Fair enough, some people might expect your first point but saying most fans just want sweeping changes, sod the expense is putting a lot of words in people's mouths......our squad desperately needing fixing and even with 7/8 signings we still need at least 3 more.......the club will always be in serious trouble under VenKean regardless.....not strengthening significantly meant League 1 all the way......we still might get there....I'm 50/50 because of Etuhu.

I said all along this deal won't happen and I'm no ITK or sports journalist or Mullan. I just have common sense to think a club won't sell to a team who could be a rival in either the battle to stay up or the battle for the play offs.

I said all along this deal would not go through, despite reports and ITK's saying it was set to happen.

Once is enough ;) even the optimistic posters are deep down realists.

Watch how much red wine you have....remember the last occasion you drank too much we were staying up apparently.....all week long.

What's the betting we don't get a replacement for Best at all, if anything it will be a last minute chancer like Yakubu last season which was an accidental success albeit a massive one, I can't see Coco striking it lucky twice.

The defence that got us relegated last season untouched, five hundred midfielders and our ''big'' summer signing crocked for most of the season, the worst manager in the history of football at the helm, what a mess were in before it's even kicked off... It's going to be another long one.

VENKYS OUT!

Shebby said today Kazim is the replacement for Best and the other striker we bring in will be a goalscorer. As mentioned in the Shebby thread, he does not believe that the Rhodes transfer is dead. He said he hopes to speak face to face with the Hudds chairman and see what can be thrashed out.

It's not personal MM i don't know you at all. But if you keep "pissing on the camp fire" and posting rubbish about transfers all the time, then you're going to wind folk up. You can say put me on ignore but that doesn't stop the problem does it? Anyway enjoy your bottle of red Victor :tu:

Yeah, for the 5 games or so where he'd actually be fit.

He managed to stay fit last season although that obviously doesn't guarantee this season would be the same.....I believe he said himself that he is over his injury problems but then again he's not exactly going to say he isn't when he will clearly be looking for a new club.......I would take him but only cos he played +30 games last year.

Providing Man City pay most of his wages I'd take him back.....he was quality at winning headers and as we don't really score any team goals he would be extremely useful for that.....the closest thing we had to a team goal last year was Nzonzi playing it to Orr so he can cross to Yakubu.......I didn't think he was too bad in his 2nd loan spell....not really a goal threat but you could still see the talent but a drop down in division would make him look a lot better.

Very different playing in Spain, where they fall over if the wind brushes them, to the Championship. A few crunching tackles and Croque would be done.

Not only that, a midweek game in January in -2 conditions, I can hear his hamstring tear from here. Remember villa away a few seasons back when he was on loan, he wasn't the same again all season.

Shebby has been here for two minutes though Jamie I don't think anything he says should be taken as gospel. He's made some very bold statements and we need to see him follow up on them before he even gets an ounce if respect. I'm not holding out for much though.

Yes he has signed a three year deal with us.

Hi,

Eye he has signed a 3 year deal with us. I look forward to seeing what he can do.

He's originally from Burnley and was on the books of Manchester United for a long time.

I think he has represented Northern Ireland at some level.

It'll be interesting to see how he performs.

Yes but he also said he had been told no and don't come back by Huddersfield too, before making a second bid (which has been refused).

Thought I said Best wouldn't come, he did, his head, IMO, turned by money.

Other than that, can you please tell me what 'rubbish' I've posted about transfers since the season ended ?

Enjoyed it so much that I had another !!!

So, its really a ###### bid of 2m....

Mr mullan was reporting a 6m bid a few days ago....wonder who gave him his info....new bestie Shebby been on the batphone...?

It's abundantly clear to anyone with sense that there is no way of telling what the actual figure we bid is. There are numerous different reports from numerous different sources. If you want to believe one over the other, it only demonstrates the bias in your views.

£2 Million bid Mmmmm I think when Shebby was asked today, he told the boys from Sky they was well wide of the mark, think you will also find the bid is in the region of £6 million pound after opening up at £5 million, how this cash is paid i.e up front, has been the biggest issue.

I have spent the last 2 weeks seeing journalist and so and so making adjustments, saying it will happen , it wont happen, its defo on, now its off, well in fact pretty much touching every base. They have been wide of the mark throughoutm and are still no nearer on the details. Rovers are not out of the running and will be upping the stakes. This one aint just going to go away, and it may just be a case of one scottish international in, and another out, as this is one possible avenue which is being explored.

Whilst bestie Shebby as you state, come on give me some credit, I aint publically put my neck on the chopping board to just to role over and have my belly tickled
