one to investigate for the ITK's, i've heard Conor Wickham is next on the list , Sunderland would sell but they want back most of what they paid , Rovers are only intersted in a loan deal

I cant help but think that Rovers have been really clever in the article about Chamakh where it is written about Rhodes. It seems like Kean or Shabba have instructed the LT what to put so that Rhodes may see the article and say he wants to speak to us. So Rovers are covering their backs by not approaching after HTFC rejected our bid.

Nixon still seems to think this is happening

This is normally about the time he backtracks and claims he was right but something changed, still seems quite sure this time though.

As an aside is that our Chaddy that tweets him 28 times an hour on average?

It beggars belief that we think Guidetti is a bigger risk than Rhodes, and shows how little our lot understand about football. Very similar goal records last season (With Guidetti notching 8 assists too), but one of them did it in the top Dutch league whilst the other did it in the third tier of English football. The Eredivisie is definitely a higher standard than League One, with clubs ranging primarily from Premiership to Championship standard. They both have a full international cap, but Guidetti's is for Sweden (I'm going to go out on a limb and say they're better than Scotland by a fair way). And Guidetti is 20 rather than 22, and has been highly rated for many years.

Aye, not to mention that City's initial asking price was £6 million, Huddersfield's was £8 million.

i dont think Rhodes asking price is 8 million tbh, re guidetti i think they want the whole 6 million up front, we cant afford that. i really do think this rhodes transfer will go through.

It clearly won't. And the price clearly was 8 million, or even more. Possibly they'd have gone for 6 million up front, though some reports say we offered quite close to that, and that most of our bids were 6 in total. Huddersfield weren't even formally stating a price, saying they wouldn't sell, but most of the talk was they had set 8 million as their valuation behind closed doors. City, on the other hand, are stating us a price straight away, showing they are willing to deal, and we run away at the first stage? Very odd to me.

If we not got £6M to pay upfront why cant we offer City something similar like we did with Huddersfield £4M + £2M or £5M + £1M

I would rather have Guidetti than Rhodes.

Exactly. They're in no rush to get money (unless they're thinking about the fair play rules), so surely they'd negotiate the structuring.

just out of intrest !! what are the current wages of guidetti & rhodes ? and what would they expect at rovers ?

Well, Rhodes was reputed to be on about 6k per week at Huddersfield, and our offer to him was expected to be 35k per week. Guidetti I have NO idea.

Singh made the comment that goalscorers are born, not made. To a point he's right, but not all goalscorers can make the higher leagues. However, it's that belief that's making him pursue Rhodes. He thinks he knows enough about the English leagues to make him override the manager. This has to stop. Kean's either backed or sacked for me. The answer isn't to have Shebby Singh - or any other employee overriding the manager.

Even if so, what on earth makes him think that 20 goals in 23 games in the Eredivisie doesn't make Guidetti a born goalscorer?

I reckon he favours Rhodes over Guidetti because he thinks that's what the fans will want. I'd imagine the majority of Rovers fans either don't know much about Guidetti and many won't know who he is at all. While Guidetti MIGHT be the better option, there aren't many people in England that haven't heard of Jordan Rhodes and that he scores goals.

Obviously not the best way to go about signing players, getting popular ones over better ones, but as he said he's 'bringing the club back to the fans' and this is probably skewing his ability to sign the right player.

To be honest I'd be happy with either, I think they'd both do a job in The Championship. I'd be ecstatic about Chamakh but I think there's more chance of Messi scoring 0 goals all season than us signing him.

Not sure I agree to be honest; many clubs have a DoF who will overrule a manager or make decisions on signings for a team; Shebbys role isn`t too far from that, just another job title in effect.

If shebby doesn`t agree with Kean, we have no insight as to why that is, so how can we judge if its right or not. Plus, if you factor in all the noise from last season about who was identifying the targets, was it Kean, was it that other guy who has been potted (can`t remember his name!) - point I am making, is that it is not uncommon for the manager to be overriden in player pursuits.

Although, I do agree with part of your post, and that Kean should be sacked :-)

Isn't it? Which clubs are they and which clubs are successful with this set up then?
