This doesnt appear to be happening....although Glen/ Nicko still seem to think it may well happen yet.

If not - cant see Guidetti, or Chamakh....so we will probably end up with Emile fckin Heskey!!!

Think we should sign Saha as our 2nd choice striker we are after...dont understand why nobody has signed him

I thought the deal was still alive in the background according to Glen; might have misread something last night, but I was under the impression it still had legs.

The deal has always been dead. The only 'alive' bit of it is the spin and lies coming out from the Blackburn Management. The timeline from my recollections go something like this:

Blackburn make a enquiry about Rhodes availability. Huddersfield state clearly that he is not for sale and any discussion as he will not be sold to a divisional rival.

Blackburn ignore this an place a low bid in.

Kean goes public saying that Rhodes is interested and the deal with Huddersfield is being done.

Huddersfield are aggravated by the unprofessional and underhand tactics of going public and trying to unsettle the player.

Huddersfield reject the offer out of hand and state clearly his is not for sale.

Kean continues to talk. further putting the back of the Huddersfield board up.

Blackburn put in a second bid on Friday. Huddersfield annoyed with Blackburns dealings with this and decide to treat it as business as normal and send a reply on the following Monday.

Huddersfield send a written letter clearly stating once more that Jordan Rhodes is not for sale.

Shebby says he is going to chat to the Huddersfield board ( I doubt this happened).

It is akin the to monty python dead parrot sketch. the Jordan Rhodes deal was dead, it always was dead and it was always going to be dead. Alas any possibility of it being a live deal is the nonsense spouted from kean and words said to sweeten the ears of blackburn fans.

The quicker the venkeys and Steve Kean are booted out of football the better. You have my sympathy and if there are any of your fans left wanting to give them a chance, they need their heads looking at., Parasites who have destroyed your community club. I hope their is something left after they are finally booted.

I cannot believe the state of Portsmouth. They had Simon Eastwood in goal. He was in the Huddersfield academy, nice lad but treats a ball like a slippery wet fish, not the best attribute in a footballer. He'll never make a professional and they had him in goal. The rest of the team were the youth team. Crazy to think in 2008 ( just 4 years ago) they won the fa cup.

I usually agree with Glen but on this deal still being alive I have to respectfully disagree. I think this deal is dead.

We must be the club with the most players linked to it in England that never come.

Witsel, Beckham, Ronaldinho, Guiza, Raul, Ruud Van N., Papiss Cisse, Vicente, Guti, Carlton Cole, Cox, Mongongu (spelling?), Bamba, am sure there are many more too that we didn't get so why won't this season be different? I can't see a reason.

That's because of the amount of garbage that comes out from the likes of Shebby, Kean, Rao, etc etc etc .... remember when Venkys first took over? We were the absolute laughing stock, and actually still are.

I think it's a tad unfair to say Shebby is full of sh1t until the end of the window. If we havent signed anyone remotely good then we know the future holds more of the same sh1t we have come to expect from Venky's and Kean.

We have signed three premier league players.

Is that Shebby's fault though or the fault of the players, Kean and Venky's for all not pulling their weight last season?

If the Rhodes deal doesn't go through YES then it is Shebbys fault for wasting so much time on it.

There's still plenty of the window left but I can't help think that it's Rhodes or nothing. I'd have thought we'd have heard about back up interest in other players (not sure if the Chamakh and Guidetti stuff is genuine), although with the package offered to Huddersfield and Rhodes maybe they thought it was nailed on.

The pursuit of Rhodes has always puzzled me a bit as I would have thought we'd have about as much chance of landing Messi as persuading a newly promoted Club to sell a guy who's scored 40 goals the previous season to one of their direct rivals.

It all smacks a little bit of the ludicrous pursuit of the "mystery striker" under the previous regime a few seasons back, a publicity stunt to appease fans concerned about the lack of any meaningful activity.

The injury to Best was unfortunate and unavoidable but the need for another quality frontman is now paramount. If we genuinely feel Rhodes is the man who can fire us back into the Premiership, what price could you put on that? We need to pay Huddersfield whatever they want.

If he genuinely isn't for sale at any price, or we don't think he's quite that good, or we can't afford him, we need to move on and quickly. Pay up or move on Rovers.

Incidentally I would have thought Sharp would be a reasonable option if the move for Rhodes flounders as is looking likely.
