roversmillsy Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Think there are better players out there. He may turn out to be amazing but for the reported £6-8m I think it's too much of a risk for someone who hasn't proved himself above League 1.
roverandout Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 erm, hes just scored for scotland, is that not higher than league 1?
roversmillsy Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 erm, hes just scored for scotland, is that not higher than league 1? It's a friendly against an average Aussie side. Cyrus is that you? Yeah
dwayne cage Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 We can't afford 6-8m probs. They probably want more than that. We are probably trying to do what other clubs do to us and bully a smaller team out of a player. Difference is we cave under pressure to sell, Huddersfield are respectively holding their ground.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Very nice header.....got across his man well and perfectly directed it to the opposite corner.......incidentally their goal was outstanding........I've been impressed with Rhodes' movement, particularly in the box.....a natural goalscorer, you can tell.
Jeru tha Damaja Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 It would be crazy to spend £6m on Rhodes at this point in his career. League One strikers and even Championship strikers simply do not command that kind of fee, and if he was really worth it then there would be bigger teams than Rovers banging down his door. If he continues to be prolific in the Championship then that might change, but for now it would be a lot of anyone's money to risk, not because his record to date is meaningless, but because it isn't conclusive enough to warrant spending like that.
Waggy76 Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 thats another Million on his price tag. He's not coming to us now, not a cat in hells chance. Was he ever ? I very much doubt it !
dwayne cage Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 In my opinion "No" he wasd never coming to us. Mullan has tweeted we are throwing in many sweeteners and the player is keen on the move. Though I still think he won't come.
Stand & Deliver Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Its all gone a bit quiet it seems. Maybe good ol sheb is thrashing out a deal? Glen thinks it could happen n he talks to Shebby regularly. Hopefully we'll get him...then he'll become Kevin Davies MKII knowing our luck haha
diziet2 Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I feel like a broken record but Huddersfield town have clearly stated they will not sell to another championship club. There is no deal any take of a deal is and always has been just talk to appease Blackburn fans. There never has been and there never will be a deal done on this. Rhodes is and will be a Huddersfield town player at the start of the season. That is the way of it.
adsfortheblues Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Is it right that we've offered Rochina to them on loan as part of the Rhodes deal? If so I'll be really annoyed!

A few times now, one of us has said he can force through a move himself.....you might say he's not that kind of player but for the right money most players would. To be honest, in a way, you're being very naive if you genuinely think that it is as simple as 'we won't sell to another team in this division'. The reason it won't happen is because we won't front the money for it. There is ALWAYS a price for a player. Always. That's a lesson we've learnt over the years. And even players you think are really loyal WILL leave if enough money is waved at them. The crucial factor is, Venkys are all talk, no end product.
glen9mullan Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Is it right that we've offered Rochina to them on loan as part of the Rhodes deal? If so I'll be really annoyed! Rovers are offering a number of players as sweetners, We have a new croatian fitness coach and Rochina's fitness levels are well off the requirement, so a loan move for him is possible. At present he is a million miles away from the starting 11, Rovers either move swifly on the this or let the parade go by, Huddersfield have knocked back rovers advances so far, and are determined to hand onto the player, but that goal tonight may just see the player fancy a taste at a bigger club and he may push for a move, He is keen on rovers, so its upto us and him to now get a deal over the line I expect more movement on this tomorrow, but uktimately this may rumble on til transfer deadline day
diziet2 Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 A few times now, one of us has said he can force through a move himself.....you might say he's not that kind of player but for the right money most players would. I accept that. however I am willing to bet, my house, my car and my own mum that there is no transfer. Although i accept that I can never be 100% (nor can anything in the world be 100% certain), I am 99.9999999999.. % sure that there is no transfer of Jordan Rhodes to Blackburn.
T.J.Newton Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I think Rochina would really benefit from regular 1st team football under a manager that knows what he is doing(as long as its only a short term loan-ie 6 months tops) and as for rochina not being at his fitest, i doubt any of the players are more than 70% fit just like the begining of last season.

So not fully sure then?
Salgado Is A Hero Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Hasn't Rochina been injured though? I don't want him to go on loan because he'd be really good then won't want to come back......good news about the fitness coach.

If I remember rightly, Rochina is out of contract at the end of the season. Edit- Wikipedia says he signed a four year deal when he came, but I definitely saw previously that it was only a 2 and a half year deal. Anybody know better?
Eddie Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Rochina signed a four and a half year deal when he signed.
Fraserkirky Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Rhodes looked good tonight, a natural finisher and his goal was class. If things go well for him he's a mix of McCoist and Shearer. Probably worth a 7m punt.
