dwayne cage Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Moves elsewhere maybe, might not fancy a move to Rovers though. All we have heard is he interested in coming and that is via the same people who thought the transfer was set to happen weeks ago.

roversmillsy Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 It's ridiculous and embarrassing that we keep going to the press saying we are interested in him and making him unsettled. When Man U with Jones and Tottenham with Bentley did it to us, I was ###### off with them and thought it was unprofessional. Yes, they got their players but it's a ridiculous way to get your player. I'm glad that a club is standing up and refusing to be bullied into a move. More clubs(including ourselves) need to start standing up to these bigger clubs.
dwayne cage Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Agreed Cyrus there is no reason if the club doesnt need financially to sell that they should indeed sell the player. This whole saga will prove us to a bigger joke than ever. See the papers now "Rovers cant even land League 1 talent"
Taggart Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Fair play to the Huddersfield chairman, either way they are doing well by their club, either they stick to their ground and keep the terrace hero or they are going to get the best possible price. As for us we should go in with one last solid cash up front bid and then move on to get someone in ASAP, it looks increasingly likely we will end up with a last minute loan or similar to make up the numbers To me it is simple, if we want him badly enough pay what we need to secure him; as the end judgement on whether he is a success at Rovers (=money well spent) or a failure (=money not well spent) is that marginal if we pay 5 million or 7 million. What ever the outcome, if we waste 5 million or 7 million and he fails, they both fall in the same category. Unless the restriction here, is that we don`t actually have the upfront cash to close the deal. Shebby - if you want him, and have the money to spend, for gods sake get it done, and get the lad with the squad so as he can start intergrating and improve our team and clubs chances of makign a good start in this league. Don`t p1ss around and leave use short for the first x amount of games !
Puffsan Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 I'm sorry Ben but you really think hudds need 3 months finding a replacement. If your manager And board doesn't already have a couple of replacements lined up they are just stupid because they should know Rhodes can be off anytime, and with major coverage on him since January they should know this isn't a player they can keep hold on. You speak very highly on your owner and I'm pretty sure they have already got a couple potential replacements lined up, anything else would just be Madness
adsfortheblues Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Damien Duff was also like that!! Am I right in thinking, that when Duff left for Chelsea, he was still really reluctant to go, but Rovers wanted the money?
dwayne cage Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 To be fair there are pro's and con's for Rhodes moving here Pro's: Get's to play with such big names as Murphy and Nuno Gomes, more money, according to the bookies more chance of gaining promotion. Con's: Has Steve Kean as manager, has to deal with boo's and a hostile atmosphere if Kean stays despite losing more than 3 games on the trot, has a lot of competition from Best when he's back and fit, with Kean at the helm there is no reason why we couldnt end up fighting off relegation again.
Ferrit Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk...otland/19279108 Rhodes just isn't the sort of person to push through a move, anyone who says this clearly doesn't know him... He still lives with his parents, doesn't drink and just lives for scoring goals. Know him personally? As for Rhodes, in my eyes, he'd be mad to move here under the clown we have for a manager.
adsfortheblues Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 This thread is getting silly now, Rhodes WILL NOT sign for Rovers, he never was and never will, we were never close to signing him and never really thought we would sign him, because we never had any real intention of offering what we know Huddersfield want, it's just more media rubbish, to appease the fans, get a through more season ticket sales through etc etc etc etc, Saaaaaame olllllllld rubbbbbbbbbish

eire3382 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 If the club doesn't need to sell and the player is happy to stay then we should move on. We aren't a prem team anymore and probably won't be for at least a few years, unless there are big changes. We have nothing to offer a good player on the up. We are stuck with players looking for a last pay day or some other missfits. We really can't be expecting any player to be excited at joining the rovers circus.

Bennisfromheaven Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Am I right in thinking, that when Duff left for Chelsea, he was still really reluctant to go, but Rovers wanted the money? from memory the official line was that Duff did not want to go but the opportunity to play for a team that my challenge for the title & the money being offered were too much to turn down The rumours were that he never wanted to leave as he felt at home but once chelsea bid 17 million Blackburn wanted the money. I vaguely remember Duff writing a letter to the fans stating how sad he was to leave & that one day he would like to return
EWOODACE1 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Am I right in thinking, that when Duff left for Chelsea, he was still really reluctant to go, but Rovers wanted the money? I think he was hoping Liverpool where going to step in and he stalled waiting for it
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted August 16, 2012 Moderation Lead Posted August 16, 2012 This will end up being one of those phantom 'active bids' that will end up having no substance to it, and we'll end up with some sh1thouse by the end of the window on deadline day or something.
Backroom Tom Posted August 16, 2012 Backroom Posted August 16, 2012 This will end up being one of those phantom 'active bids' that will end up having no substance to it, and we'll end up with some sh1thouse by the end of the window on deadline day or something. Pretty much my thoughts Then Kean can talk about trying for our top targets but they wouldn't budge
Eddie Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 “It’s all about money at the end of the day with the directors and, as I said, it’s out of my hands, with the way the game has gone, I don’t think somebody will pay that sort of money, let alone for Damien Duff. We’ll still be talking about this in five years’ time and I will still be a Blackburn player." That was towards the end of his last season with us.
betsvigi9 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Rhodes won't join Rovers because Hoyle won't sell him to another Championship club, no matter how much money they offer. Rhodes will be on his way sooner or later, but it will be to a Premier League club and only when they meet Dean Hoyle's valuation and just as importantly, because Rhodes wants to go there. If he starts the season well, then he may leave in the January transfer window, but believe me he won't be joining Blackburn Rovers.
Eddie Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Rhodes won't join Rovers because Hoyle won't sell him to another Championship club, no matter how much money they offer. So if we call up and offer £30m for him tomorrow he says no?
Backroom Tom Posted August 16, 2012 Backroom Posted August 16, 2012 You really like transfer talk Dwayne, are you related to Chaddy?
dwayne cage Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Within reason i think should have been put there. Because obviously there is a limit on what we can spend How about 4 billion pounds? You really like transfer talk Dwayne, are you related to Chaddy? I don't know is he a handsome super cool dude? If so maybe i am I just like pointing out how over-hyped every move we make is. If we are moving at all in then window.
diziet2 Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 So if we call up and offer £30m for him tomorrow he says no? I've had a thought about this for 10 mins and I actually think the answer might well be no. Of course the is no way he is worth 30 million. 8 million is around his mark I'd think. If in the premiership, he'd be up in the top 10 of striking talent in that division. And here in lies the probable reason for the rejection. Where else would Huddersfield find a striker of such quality? they simply do not exist or at least the do not exist form a reasonable amount of money and the wages we would be looking to spend. A divisional rival would end up getting such a talent and that would hurt us in the coming championship race. How much is promotion worth these days? £100 million? how would the chance of that balance against £30 million? to reinterate, he is not worth anywhere near £30 million. If a premiership rival came in and offered that, we'd take it there and then. But another team in the championship with such a large price to play for? well I am not so sure.
Zolty Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 haha hardly post. but ben1142 you are completely insane if u think a 30 mill offer would be rejected. so obvious why,i dont even need to explain more lol.
