It's not how Town would do business. The squad is settled and ready for the first game of the championship on Friday night. Dean Hoyle would not sell Rhodes and leave the squad and Simon Grayson scratching around to find a replacement.

If a premiership team came in with a bid for him now that was over 8 million then my educated guess is the transfer and dealings would be discussed with Jordan behind closed doors and and transfer and all details agreed but for the transfer to take place in the January transfer window. We would have time to find a replacement and none would get any news of the transfer until it happened in January.

Huddersfield don't do idle gossip in the papers and most of the signings this summer have only leaked on the day of the announcement.

All the papers and other fans said Rhodes would be gone in the January transfer window after he scored 5 in a game in December. Hoyle said he was not for sale, it took 3 weeks but the press finally accepted that it was bluster or talk to drive up the price, Dean Hoyle was not going to sell in January. He is not going to sell either 1 day out from the start of the season.

All the best

Ben

You trying to convince us, or yourself?

face it ben, rhodes won't be at huddersfield come september the 1st, now repeat this

to yourself a few times to give it a chance to sink in

Honestly more than happy to have a serious bet on this. name a charity and if Rhodes If Rhodes is sold by the end of this summer's transfer window then I will donate £50 to that charity. If he is still with huddersfield then you can do likewise.

What do you think? Accept the bet?

I've had a thought about this for 10 mins and I actually think the answer might well be no. Of course the is no way he is worth 30 million. 8 million is around his mark I'd think. If in the premiership, he'd be up in the top 10 of striking talent in that division. And here in lies the probable reason for the rejection.

Where else would Huddersfield find a striker of such quality? they simply do not exist or at least the do not exist form a reasonable amount of money and the wages we would be looking to spend. A divisional rival would end up getting such a talent and that would hurt us in the coming championship race.

How much is promotion worth these days? £100 million? how would the chance of that balance against £30 million?

to reinterate, he is not worth anywhere near £30 million. If a premiership rival came in and offered that, we'd take it there and then. But another team in the championship with such a large price to play for? well I am not so sure.

I know all fans have an element of bias with their clubs but you really take the biscuit sometimes.....I take it you were the one who said you were promotion candidates until another H'field fan shot you down on here......£30million? "the answer might well be no".....seriously? Your club has already said you would sell him for the right price....I'm gonna presume that price was some way below £30 million.......I'm a fan of Jordan Rhodes, even more so now after watching him score for my country last night, but he is not in the top 10 strikers of the Premier League.....Aguero, Tevez, Adebayor, Dzeko, Sturridge, RVP, Rooney, Torres, Ba, Cisse....there's 10 from 4 clubs alone once RVP signs for United.

"Huddersfield don't do idle gossip in the papers"....that's cos it won't help sell them.....a reality check is needed......this is different, you have a potentially top-class striker and the normal rules don't apply.....you can try and convince yourself that he won't want to leave as he's happy and just enjoys playing.....but he has an agent like others have pointed out who'll be looking to make himself and his client as much money as possible.....he might not have tried to engineer a move yet but if you think even the players you would least expect to don't do it occasionally you are in for a bit of a rude awakening now you're in the top 2 divisions.

I think Arsenal fans were telling themselves the same thing until yesterday morning..

Not the same at all. RVP had 12 months left on his contract and Arsenal had to sell or get nothing, or a great deal less in January; Rhodes has 3 years left on his contract.

Honestly more than happy to have a serious bet on this. name a charity and if Rhodes If Rhodes is sold by the end of this summer's transfer window then I will donate £50 to that charity. If he is still with huddersfield then you can do likewise.

No-one is going to take that bet on Ben, because in spite of all the bluster, they know they will lose.

So if we call up and offer £30m for him tomorrow he says no?

Now you are just being silly

Impossible to say who will be in the top 10 strikers in the league. For example Rooney may have an awful season but Grant Holt may have a brilliant one. Guess work really

Impossible indeed, however at least you can make an educated guess as to who will score goals next season, based on their record at the highest level. Rhodes has barely played in the 2nd tier yet, let alone the top.

To come out with a blanket statement like "He'd be in the top 10 in the premiership" is just a joke. Based on what, his extensive goal scoring record in the premier league?

i certainly accept that if a premiership club came in and offered £8 million and upwards then Jordan Rhodes would be sold and on his way. However this thread is about Blackburn Rovers chances of signing Jordan. Being in the same division and therefore being a divisional rival changes everything. Hoyle will not sell to a divisional rival this summer or this season. Hence my answer to if Blackburn were to offer £30 million.

The thing is it is hypothetical as Blackburn nor any other championship team has £30 million to spend on one player. I doubt any Championship team has £8 million to spend on one player.

I am certain due to the nearness of the season starting that Rhodes will not be sold. Championship clubs cannot afford him/Dean will not sell to them. Premiership will not take an £8 million punt on a player yet to play above the 3rd tier of football not how good his potential. So come the end of the transfer window Rhodes will still be pulling on the blue&white stripes of Huddersfield.

I am so sure of this that my offer of a bet is a genuine one. Name any charity or worthy cause and if Rhodes moves then I will donate £50 to that cause. If he stays well an blackburn fan willing to take the best does the same.

On our board we had similar in January, A sheff Weds fan was sure that Rhodes would be sold to West ham and made a similar bet ( but for £10), when Rhodes stayed he duly put the £10 towards a young Huddersfield girl who needed expensive treatment for a brain tumour in America. Credit to him, he paid up. I now offer the same bet but for £50 ( as I really am very sure and £10 isn't all that much these days). Any takers as it is for a good cause? ( it could even be a get venkeys and Steve Kean out Blackburn fund. I'd happily contribute to that if Jordan did get sold).

Regards

Ben

I don't think you'll get anyone to take up that bet because;

A. No one actually thinks he's going to sign for us, based on the morons we have in charge of our club

and

B. Evens is crap odds.

where do you keep getting the 8 million figure from ben? it pretty common knowledge that £6 million will do it

hi you have been told fibs from your end. The figure to start talking about a transfer (not championship clubs); is £8 million. I am not one for claiming to be 'in the know' and don't post rumours. I have been made aware form 2 separate sources that Rhodes valuation is set at a minimum £8 million. Blackburn know this and yet put in stupid £2 million + £2 million dependent bids in. Hoyle won't sell to another championship club but this is the reason huddersfield have said twice in response to public Blackburn bids that they come nowhere near matching the Huddersfield valuation.

Your club tells so many lies to its fans it is shocking.

i dont think he will join rovers. simply cos i dont believe we will stump up the cash. BUT i find it amusing that you actually believe that if a championship club meets the magic £ no. he wont be sold.. like so many have said previously on this thread, and having seen similair happen when outr players have gone for bigger bucks in the past.... money talks.

We know, it's been happening for two years now but yours is also telling a porkie pie with that £2m story that came out recently. I suspect they came out with that in case Rhodes doesn't do quite as well as anticipated and they can save some face that they didn't cash in.

Okay now it's a huge leap to think you can be promoted to the premier league with what is a league 1 squad, but I'll put that down to you being on a high with being promoted, but saying that you wouldn't take £30m from another Championship club, you cannot be on this planet.

Two things I've learned from this thread.

1) We are stil amateurish (being glass half full) when it comes to trying for decent signings.

2) If the posters on this thread are anything to go by, Hudds fans are a decent bunch.
