roverandout Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 yes but they have money, a good chairman, a quality striker at the minute, a good manager, yes i do think they have a chance to finish above rovers, im not saying they will but to dismiss them with the state our club is in at the mo is ludicrous.

diziet2 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 We're all here to note the Ben v Puffsan bet so no wriggling out of it gents. At least one charity will benefit from it. ben1142, you remind me very much of myself when we were a well run club and when i was convinved we wouldn't sell our better players as they were loyal to us and had long contracts. Unfortunately I realised that football had changed. Look at quotes from the player and the club when Damian Duff was sold. It's exactly the same as Rhodes, unfortunately for us the richest team in our league at the time did stump up the cash and the player was gone. I don't think we have the cash to get Rhodes but I do believe that your owner would sell to another club in the division if the money was right. I agree with much you say but the is one major difference in that the Duff move happened in the premiership. The differences in wealth are so extreme between the top 4 or 5 clubs and the rest that Chelsea at the time could offer a money-is -no-object bid and pay massively over the odds for the player. In the championship, there are still large differences especially with those teams who have just been relegated from the prem; the differnences though as not as extreme. lets say hypothetically ( I am making the premium up here, I have no actual knowledge) that there is a £4 million added premium for a championship club to buy on to the £8 million valuation ( the a premiership team would have to fork out) that'd be £12 million. I cannot see any club in the championship having enough spondoolies to splash that sort of cash on one player. realistically no championship club can afford him and Hoyle will not sell to them. A premiership club coming in for him is a different matter but not in this transfer window.
Waggy76 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I know the club has problems but, even in our current state, Huddersfield have nowhere near the quality Rovers have. They have a better manager but that is not saying much. Do you seriously think Hudds will finish above Rovers? Every chance if they keep hold of Rhodes , (he won't be coming to Ewood and never was ) I have not really noticed the quality , we are supposed to have .. Murphy good player excepted but knocking on . We got relegated last season without a whimper and if Mad Mick had stayed at Wolves we would have been bottom ... Also , our squad last season was far stronger than the one assembled at present...
alderson777 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Have i accidently arrived on the Huddersfield forum, i really thought this was a Jordan Rhodes thread???

On theprospect of signing Rhodes, I assume he has been advised to stay well away from the sinking ship. His time will come and at a club on the way up to the Premiership.
Stand & Deliver Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 How much do you lot moan? Jesus Christ and you'll also find that this site smells of urine,as it can be one big peeing contest at times
dwayne cage Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Coming up on SSN "Why all is not well for the start of the season at Blackburn" wonder if this is transfer excuses or on the pitch excuses before we've even kicked off?
Roverdale Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Could be completely unrelated but Rochina on twitter says he's fit but does not travel to Ipswich and he says he cannot answer questions. Didn't someone mention he could be a sweetener in the Rhodes deal? Possibly off there for a medical. Either that or we're just selling him I suppose.. Could be a number of reasons.

I reckon there's something in that. Glen Mullan said that he was one of the sweeteners being thrown into the deal. Now if Rhodes pulls out of the game tonight with an "injury" then it'll be nailed on.
OJRovers Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I've had a thought about this for 10 mins and I actually think the answer might well be no. Of course the is no way he is worth 30 million. 8 million is around his mark I'd think. If in the premiership, he'd be up in the top 10 of striking talent in that division. And here in lies the probable reason for the rejection. Where else would Huddersfield find a striker of such quality? they simply do not exist or at least the do not exist form a reasonable amount of money and the wages we would be looking to spend. A divisional rival would end up getting such a talent and that would hurt us in the coming championship race. How much is promotion worth these days? £100 million? how would the chance of that balance against £30 million? to reinterate, he is not worth anywhere near £30 million. If a premiership rival came in and offered that, we'd take it there and then. But another team in the championship with such a large price to play for? well I am not so sure. Sorry but you can't be serious that he would be in the top 10 strikers in the premier league?? Off the top of my head,Rooney,Tevez,Agero,Torres,Drogba,RVP,Suarez,Dzeko,Balotteli,Defoe,Ba,Cisse,Adebayor. Rhodes would only go to a 'top' premier league club if he had a season scoring a lot of goals in the championship and even then he's be on the sidelines. Look at Sturridge at Chelsea, Wellbeck at MU. There is a chance that a lower PL club could take a gamble on him, but then they would never pay over £5m for a gamble. I think some of your directors would happily take £5m if Rovers put it on the table. Its not about replacing the player, more about securing the club's finances for the next 2/3 years. There's only City/Chelsea/MU that don't need to sell players to cover costs. However, it sounds like Rovers have been messing around offering £2m+ add ons, I think it would need to be cash up front for this to go through.
Gumbi Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I don't think Huddersfield will sell him to us just based on principal now however much we offer them.
danger19_80 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I don't buy all this not selling to us on principle stuff. Kean is a lot of things but he's by no means the first manager to talk in public about a player they're chasing. Story on BBC Sport atm with quotes from Brendan Rodgers about Clint Dempsey for example. Happens every day. What HTFC are probably more annoyed about is, Kean talking about him in public but not backing it up with a proper offer.

Ferrit Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 He has a point though, seems kinda silly to click on a Jordan Rhodes thread and complain about being bored about it
T4E Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I accept that. however I am willing to bet, my house, my car and my own mum that there is no transfer. Although i accept that I can never be 100% (nor can anything in the world be 100% certain), I am 99.9999999999.. % sure that there is no transfer of Jordan Rhodes to Blackburn. Awww, you're so cute! I remember when I used to join other teams message boards to insist that our players would never leave us for them. I was wrong just about every time. Eventually it dawned on me that footballers do not give a ###### how much I want them to stay, they'll go where the money is - that's every single footballer, that has ever existed, ever. Try not to be too upset when he leaves you.
diziet2 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 don't worry lads, give in to your inner desires, you know in your heart of hearts you want support the Town. after all you got the blur&white right, just the stripes bit got lost in communication.
