Something doesn't add up still

Why would we mess around with installments then offer more than the full amount upfront

If it does come off I hope we can all keep a bit of decorum and remember that we are normally the team on the other end of this sort of thing

Seems like we said we were going to bid but didn't follow up our word until now. So incredibly vital to get a quality striker in as soon as possible, I really hope Shebby can pull one out of the hat.

Funnily enough if it happens this transfer may save Kean's skin if Rhodes starts banging goals in.

Looks like it'll be a case of score more than the other team again with Rhodes taking the Yak role. That said we saw what happened with that strategy last season.

Indeed, how much irony that Singh signs the player that keeps Kean in the job that Singh would apparently like to relieve Kean of.

I think all in all Singh wants us to succeed if that means Kean has to keep his job then so be it. His job is to help sign players and make sure the fans are getting communicated with. His job isn't just to sack Kean.

I hope we do get Rhodes and we do excellent this season. Kean in charge or not we need to get back up.

When you pay in insallments you keep he interest so it is much more profitable to do it that way, also you take a lesser risk if we fail to win promotion first time around by not blowing all your money in one go. My guess is if they pay the cash upfront they must be confident of offloading someone on big money (Pedersen, Dann or Robinson) or shifting a couple more of the nearly men out (Rochina, Petrovic etc)

It wouldn't suprise me if the "guest" tomorrow is someone else altogether though...someone like Roque.

from our end. taken from the official site. accept it or not, no worries. My view is it contains a little bit to much detail to be a 'faked' injury

Jordan Rhodes was missing for Town and Simon explained his decision to leave out the Scottish international.

“Jordan has a hamstring strain,” explained Simon. “He came back from Scotland on the Thursday morning and after travelling down with us he felt that it was tight. He went for an MRI scan in Cardiff this afternoon and it showed that he had a Grade 1 tear, which will only leave him unavailable for five to seven days. It will be 50/50 whether he plays against Nottingham Forest but he should be ok for Burnley. We could have patched him up and thrown him out there but that would have risked him missing three to four weeks. There will be plenty of speculation as to why he didn’t play, but believe me isn’t going anywhere.

exactly, our turn to gloat now, enough people have done it to us over the years

ben, what do you expect him to say? huddersfield have accepted an offer and you are losing you're best player? wouldn't go down well with town fans would it?

Yeah if we get Rhodes or not no point in gloating over it to a guy who seems a good sort and i hope he will stick around either way. Refreshing to see someone who trusts the owners and manager of his team reminds me of what it was like a few years back.

Guys, Ben has been great on the forum. iF we sign Rhodes just remember how you felt when Bellamy, Duff, Friedel, Shearer etc left. Don't take the mick.

I doubt Rhodes leaving is on the same devastating level as when Shearer left for Newcastle. Not many people know that pain, though I reckon Arsenal fans will be feeling it this evening.

No disrespect to the lad, but surely if we've got £6.5m to splash on a striker, we can get a more proven player than Rhodes? Yes, he scored a shedload in League 1, but £6.5m is a lot to gamble on him converting that to the Championship when he's played most of his football in League 1.

He looks a prospect, but would I spend £6.5m on him when we're in the Championship? Probably not to be honest. Surely we can pick up a decent, mid table, PL fringe striker for around the same money (if not less) who would do just as good a job?

One thing I'm wondering. Why would they take a striker to an away game when he's injured? Grayson said he's 50/50 for their mid week match, shouldn't he be at home resting?

And yes RYAS, £6.5m is a lot to gamble on him, then combine the huge wages he'll be on. He's scored an amazing amount of goals, the highest scorer across all leagues I think, but he's only ever done it in League 1. Can he step up? Big risk but Hudds fans are having kittens at the thought of losing him. They think he's going to fire them into consecutive promotions.

Go on then, who would u like from the prem in that price range? Not saying u are wrong just interested. Rhodes would be making a step up, a prem striker a hefty step down.

Agreed on that. Can't think of anyone for £6.5m who wouldn't be a journeyman or has been only interested in the cash. Rhodes has something to prove.
