AJW Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I think we're just being used so Rhodes and his camp can see if there really is a PL club who want him , TBH i can't see him staying at Huddersfield passed this transfer window , but i can't see him at Rovers either , my guess is MON will lose patience with Wolves over Fletcher and go for Rhodes instead
Pedro Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Play offs?? Delusions of grandeur they are mate. You only went up cos Sheff Utd cocked it up and lost their best player. There is often a team that gets back to back promotions via the play-offs, no reason why it can't be Huddersfield. Financially going from 6k a week to 40k a week is certainly bettering yourself. You're too fixated on the league aspect of it, Ben. It's as much about the teams that have money. There's a big difference between your chairman being able to pay Rhodes 6k a week and our club being able to offer him 40k (reportedly). I'm not convinced this will happen to be honest, but wouldn't be surprised if it does. Pretty much my stance.
roversR4ever Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Seeing is believing ..... I am convinced it will not happen ..... i know what you mean, especaily after last summer when we put in very low bids made it public we wanted the player really knowing we had no chance. I do see a difference this summer though, we seem to be going back with improved offers and offering better wages as well.
Puffsan Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Well maybe you don't have to sell rhodes, but in a way you will have to anyway. If you decline this offer I think Rhodes will force it. I know you have said that is not his style etc, but 6,5 millions is a very good offer. Rhodes obviously wants to move cause he quadruple his wages and if you decline this offer he will feel that you are pricing him out of the market. I have seen this so many times in the norwegian league. Players are really loyal and sign new contracts etc because they want their club to earn some money on their move. Then when foreign clubs come offering they are pricing the same players out of the market (release clauses are illegal in Norway). Obviously the players get ###### off and it ends up with a sale in the end. If rhodes want the move, you will have to accept the 6,5 bid cause it's more than fair offer
dwayne cage Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Seeing is believing ..... I am convinced it will not happen ..... I like you remain sceptical. If all your used to is failing then success comes as a surprise. In my opinion we should have went in for DJ, if he was willing to go Bristol City he would have signed for us and cost less.

In my opinion we should have went in for DJ, if he was willing to go Bristol City he would have signed for us and cost less. I don't rate him, he is a tap in expert and unfortunately under Kean's style of play we don't get the ball accross the face of the goal enough. If we still had Emerton or Bentley then he would score in our team, CKR might be able to provide the ammo though but I haven't seen anything in a Rovers shirt yet.
dwayne cage Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Do we know if Rhodes will adapt to Keans style of play though?
bob fleming Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Do we know if Rhodes will adapt to Keans style of play though? "Keans style of play" - is there a style to it? Surely you mean would Rhodes adapt to losing?
AJW Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Do we know if Rhodes will adapt to Keans style of play though? Lose at all costs you mean?
Andy Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Just a thought, with the current cock-fight at Rovers, I'm wondering if Kean going public on Shebby's target was a way of trying to throw a spanner in the works? If the fee can be agreed, there's no way he'd turn down Rovers and the reported salary, to stay at Huddersfield. Get him in, get Kean out and we are laughing.
Waggy76 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Do we know if Rhodes will adapt to Keans style of play though? There is no style , shape or balance in Keans teams ....So the answer must be no !

Clitherover Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 4/11 he'll join Rovers according to Sky Bet.
Pedro Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Do we know if Rhodes will adapt to Keans style of play though? No, we don't even know if he can ply his trade in the Championship - let alone the top flight. I for one am not getting too excited, too many of Rovers big money buys end up crap anyway.
dwayne cage Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 We shall see, I doubt we'll even get him. We'll have wasted all our time.
rhodie Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Taking it that he is on 6grand a week at H/field and if he came here he would earn 35 grand a week ,that means if he stays at H/field he is losing 1.5 million out of his pocket a year.I`m sorry but there`s no way he is staying at Huddersfield ,the lad doesn`t have to move home either ,that I would say gives us the advantage over any London team.If the figures that people are touting are correct IMO it`s just a matter of time before he moves ,If it is to a premier club rather than us it would more than likely be a north west club.Money is money and Human is Human if Huddersfield are so adamant about keeping him now that he has seen the greener grass they will more than likely have to give him a big fat million pound bonus regardless of whether he has a contract or not.
yoda's brother Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 just seen on LT story http://www.lancashir...rn_Rovers_boss/ blueblooded says... 12:38pm Sat 18 Aug 12 Update: Sorry, not signed yet but can confirm Rhodes has been allowed to talk to Rovers and its looking good. Personally I think Rhodes has forced this move to happen, which is what Kean was betting on when he went public with it first time. Sources are saying that Greyson is furious with Rovers for upsetting their season plans, but if Rhodes wants to go, which it looks like he does. My prediction? Rhodes will sign for us, have an amazing season and next year a PL club will do to the same to us and grab him, because clearly he's only going to use Rovers as a stepping stone to the big leagues. probably rubbish tho
diziet2 Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Taking it that he is on 6grand a week at H/field and if he came here he would earn 35 grand a week ,that means if he stays at H/field he is losing 1.5 million out of his pocket a year.I`m sorry but there`s no way he is staying at Huddersfield ,the lad doesn`t have to move home either ,that I would say gives us the advantage over any London team.If the figures that people are touting are correct IMO it`s just a matter of time before he moves ,If it is to a premier club rather than us it would more than likely be a north west club.Money is money and Human is Human if Huddersfield are so adamant about keeping him now that he has seen the greener grass they will more than likely have to give him a big fat million pound bonus regardless of whether he has a contract or not. he will go, of course but I still think it will be in the January transfer window. the 6K figure he is on is out of date, I am sure ( though not 100% as this is going from memory) that his salary was doubled, certainly upped after January of this year as a thanks for not pushing for a move last January, that is all I can remember though so must be treated as hearsay). So he misses out on a couple of months of significantly increased wages, but the pay off is he goes straight to a premiership club on similar or even better wages. i'd not be surprised if a loyalty bonus was passed the way of Rhodes presently. My only concern is this offer from the premiership club that has come in and is near the valuation mark. That is a possible test. No chance of Blackburn signing him though as I reiterate, that fact that you are in the same division is a massive factor. Added to that, to the outsider as well as all of you Blackburn fans; the clubs looks like it is in chaos with Steve Kean, the Venky's this shebby character spouting off. The relegation last year, dispite lots of words nothing seems to have changed. it is not an attractive situation to move into. As I've stated before, I sincerely hope you get Kean and the Venkeys out of your club as soon as possible and start to resurrect the club and repair some of the damage that has been done.
Ricky Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Ben, I hope you realise just how much stick you're going to take if he does sign for us lol.
andyroversmad Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Ben after all these messages your going to feel like a right idiot if he signs for us.
sjsbrfc Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 my only concern, and I can only be truthful, I've never been a stuck-in-the-mud is I have become aware that a premiership team has come in with a bid that is close to our valuation. The offer has not been accepted but at the same time, a bid from a premiership team and the club being a good fit for Rhodes makes it more difficult to turn down. this is not in the press. If he does go I will honour my bets and send that lad a tenner. The £50 bet to charity on Town finishing above Blackburn is still on though. No need to send me the tenner, just donate it to Alzheimer’s Research UK.
