Roverdale Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Just having a browse on the Huddersfield forum to see what they had to say about Rhodes only to find the latest post being this: "Don't want to fan the incredulous flame but I was just in a retail park down Leeds Road, in which I clocked a (will remain unnamed) 1st team Town player and his girlfriend. One of the annoying people who worked there (no, you can't help me, and it becomes very tedious by the time I've been asked by the 4th member of staff...in the unlikely event I want assistance I'll ask for it...I only come in your shop so I can have a close look at something ahead of buying online)....had a brief conversation with said footballer, who escaped with a sheepish "I'm supposed to be with my girlfriend" line... The annoying shop person then said something to another annoying shop person, who loudly replied, "what do you mean he wants to go to Blackburn". So either the footballer said Rhodes wants to go to Blackburn, or loud annoying assistant was trying to grasp what annoying assistant had wanted to ask footballer." Just thought I would post it up. Could be a joke/wind up/lie but don't see why a Huddersfield fan would post it if so. Believe it or don't believe it - whatever takes your fancy, but thought some might find it interesting. I'm still one of those clinging to the hope Rhodes might join (yep, more fool me for letting Rovers get my hopes up!) but this saga is just getting silly now. Hopefully today's supposed meeting puts an end to this one way or another. Hahaha.. that might just be one of the most ridiculous transfer related stories I've ever seen! No idea if its true or false but if it is made up then bravo to the Hudds fan that came up with it

Salgado Is A Hero Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Would happily take Kenwyne Jones......we need a big physical striker and he would fit the bill. He's not scored many at Stoke but Stoke don't score many in general.....only 34 or something in the Premier League last season as they don't create many chances from open play.....but his strike rate at Sunderland wasn't too bad.
watford-rover Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Im not getting excited by him signing (gave up about a week ago thinking he would come) but wouldnt it be nice to buy a player from a club who want to keep him. it seems to always happen to rovers and never the other way round.
roverandout Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 a non goal scoring striker, will fit in well then with what we have
dwayne cage Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 a non goal scoring striker, will fit in well then with what we have ?
diziet2 Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Bid has been rejected. I am not suprised. I've heard nothing but the price to discuss remains as it was from the first day an enquiry was made. Its £8 million to start to talk..
AJW Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 i think the whole way the club has handled this has upset Huddersfield so much that even if we did offer the full £8m up front the'd still reject it
danger19_80 Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 i think the whole way the club has handled this has upset Huddersfield so much that even if we did offer the full £8m up front the'd still reject it Boo hoo. First time in years they've had an asset worth bothering with and they're acting like they're the only team to ever be treated in this way. They'd need to get over themselves if that was the case.
watford-rover Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 So what we going for then? Accepted or rejected?
Clitherover Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 So what we going for then? Accepted or rejected? With a name like ''Footy Agent North'' I'd say definitely rejected.
danger19_80 Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Is the rejection thing a twitter rumour? Who from?
pick32 Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 6 million is a very generous offer, if they reject fair enough we could get a higher caliber player for less.
watford-rover Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Nicko is saying its rejected so it could still happen
roverandout Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 i don't think rovers were ever serious about spending big money on rhodes. Just venkys'/kean's/shebby's way of pretending to be commited to rovers by putting in bids that always fall short of huddersfield's valutation, if they really wanted him they would have matched what huddersfield were asking for!!!
chaddyrovers Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Hopefully the bid has been accept by HT. if not, then we need to move on and go for either Jay Bothroyd or Frazier Campbell. would anybody go for Connor Wickham from Sunderland? suppose to be available for loan by them if they sign a striker. just agreed a fee for SF. so could be a option.
roverandout Posted August 22, 2012 Author Posted August 22, 2012 yep but no way will they let him go out on loan
pick32 Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 They want to recoup the 8million they paid for him.
