Eddie Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Agreed. We're coming off like some of the morons we have dealt with in the past when the likes of Jones, Bellamy, Bentley, Santa Cruz and Duff have been sold. Get a grip.

dubdubdub Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Rovers fans need to stop running Huddersfied down and remember how they felt when the bigger boys raided our larder Huddersfield fans need to realise they're on a Rover's messageboard and are obviously going to run into some bias. Personally though I think they are showing more bias and arrogance than anyone. I can't name anyone on here who has stated that we are 100% nailed on to sign Rhodes whereas the Huddersfield fans are stating 100% that there's no chance he'd leave for Rovers.
BigBar Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Better than seeing nothing but ' Last post by Dwayne Cage 2 minutes ago ' Quality...was gonna say something but didnt wanna be the big bad wolf!!
chris_h Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 He will not be sold for less than £6 million so it would seem he's not joining Rovers. End of saga? Hope so. He's overpriced and the whole thing is extremely tedious.

They aren't saying that he won't leave for Rovers, they are saying that Huddersfield are unlikely to accept and offer and that Rhodes won't force them to do so. So far that looks to be a pretty fair assessment.
Mercer Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Alan Nixon@reluctantnicko @67splitscreen Heard that Huddersfield blanked all calls from Blackburn on Rhodes yesterday ... No doubt Hudders will dig even deeper and harder knowing the Rovers are getting desperate with the news that Kazim is apparently out for 6 weeks. Would think conversation, if there is one, is now 'eight million pounds up front please or p1ss-off'. Like many, don't think the lad is worth anything near that and the whole episode has become a sideshow. Well past the time to move on.
LeChuck Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Seriously, why can't we just get someone on a six month loan deal? We'll get fleeced by any selling club unless they actually want rid of the player in question.
chaddyrovers Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 we need to move on from Rhodes deal now. Ain't happening and we wasted 4 weeks on this transfer saga and got nowhere. we now need 2 strikers in asap. these deals need to happen over the bank holiday weekend aswell. I would go for striker on loan for 6 months like Wickham or Bothroyd. then one cash buy like Billy Sharp.
Ricky Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Agreed, move on. How about pissing the dingles off with a bid for Austin
Puffsan Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Does it really matter who we get? I mean Jason Roberts hammered reading up didn't he?
Stand & Deliver Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 You might, but to be honest I sincerely hope you don't. The one thing that has clearly shone through in this never ending saga is the absolute arrogance of Blackburn Rovers. Management and fans alike clearly believe that little old Huddersfield should just roll over and let their prize asset go for a song. You also seriously under-estimate the integrity of the lad himself. Yes, an offer of £35k a week goes way beyond what we could ever pay him, but he signed a contract at Huddersfield and he has already publicly stated that he is very happy to stay put. He will move only with the consent of Huddersfield Town, no matter how much you might otherwise think. Apart from scoring 40 plus goals for a "tinpot league one outfit" he has also shone for Scotland U'21s and recently opened his account with the senior side. Jordan Rhodes is absolute quality and if Blackburn Rovers want to sign him they should show a little respect and make a realistic offer. We are financially stable and don't need to sell, so stump up the cash or go away! We're a massive club compared to you lot. Like I said to Ben, show us your trophies! I bet Rhodes would crawl over broken glass to get here on a £35K a week pay deal. I'll look forward to getting "Rhodes 9" on my little lads shirt. I hope Hudds go down too n you deluded dickheads get your wake up call.

So far that looks to be a pretty fair assessment. They put bets on. I'm just pointing out the fact that Huddersfield fans are being overly defensive when there's nothing to be defensive about. Rovers fans haven't been expecting Rhodes to leave or labeling Huddersfield a smaller club than Rovers...until just now...^
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 I dont think that claiming Rovers are a bigger club than Huddersfield Town is worth getting upset over. We've been an established premier league team for the best part of two decades until now. We don't have any right to assume that Rhodes would come to us but considering how many players have left our club for bigger things it wouldn't be that surprising if it happened. We're not a massive club by any means and it's not as if we're not used to being a smaller fish in a big pond. I dont think Rhodes will happen because we're messing around with transfer fees but I don't think you could blame the lad for making the switch. If that's arrogance then so be it.

T4E Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 This thread highlights the difference between a set of fans whose club has played to a high level for a number of years and as such have had players that bigger clubs have poached, and a club that are going through the very same for the first time and are out of touch with reality in terms of how this game works. The naiveity of the Huddersfield fans is hilarious.
Stand & Deliver Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Why the heck was that post deleted????!!!
RevidgeBlue Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 The naiveity of the Huddersfield fans is hilarious. I think that's a bit unfair. I think if I was a Huddersfield fan I'd be fairly resigned to him moving on if a Premiership side came in for him but I'd want to be safe in the knowledge that he wouldn't be allowed to leave for another Championship Club. And if the player himself pushed for a move purely for the higher wages on offer. I'd be pretty quick to label him a greedy so and so. It's a bit like us when we were in the Premiership. You couldn't really begrudge someone like Samba a move to ManUre/Citeh/Chelsea etc but if he'd gone somewhere like Sunderland or Villa purely because they'd offered to double his wages, we'd have been mightily peed off.
JimmyGlazzard Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 For the record I've never said that Rhodes will not join Rovers, only that I hope he doesn't. When your manager tells the world that you have made a bid, a clear attempt to unsettle the player and his relationship with HTFC, it kind of makes you angry. We're playing Burnley tomorrow btw, so I suppose a JR hat-trick might not be too unpopular down your way. On the other hand it might make the price go even higher

Be thankful you haven't had to deal with his BS for the past two years. We're playing Burnley tomorrow btw, so I suppose a JR hat-trick might not be too unpopular down your way. On the other hand it might make the price go even higher If he scores a hat trick against Burnley he'd be a legend whether we sign him or not. Hope you win tomorrow!

BiggusLaddus Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Why the heck was that post deleted????!!! Because it was the most moronic thing to grace this board since Vinjay?
Backroom Tom Posted August 24, 2012 Backroom Posted August 24, 2012 Why the heck was that post deleted????!!! Have a read of this http://www.brfcs.co.uk/forum-posting-guidelines/ Then have a think and if you still can't work it out then come back to us, I didn't remove it myself but in honesty you'll be lucky at just having it removed No need at all
Ricky Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 JG you've missed Newcastle and West Ham talking about Carroll, QPR talking about Dawson, Liverpool talking about Surin. It's not unusual for manager to talk about targets. It's very very normal. Our manager is a knob of the highest order but having a go at him because of this seems a bit ott.
AJW Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 For whats its worth Jimmy as much as i rate Jordan Rhodes i'ts got to a point were i dont want us to sign him , Rovers and Kean have behaved terribly , we'll all agree to that , but we wont be the first or last club to do it , you might find one day your manager talks up another player from another club he fancies , its football , it happens ,its happened to us many times , but whats worrying me is how does a club with no sponsor , no matchday corperate partners , and dwindling support offer £6-8 m + 35k a week to a player , this on top of the contracts offered to Nuno Gomes , Danny Murphy , Dickson Etuhu and Leon Best ???? the last 3 all dropped from PL to join us
