And to think people say the Scottish are cheap.

Too much for my liking.

People saying we need pace out wide - I agree. However IF (IMO we won't) we got Rhodes then Kazim would offer that option and personally I think he'd excell there.

We have pace out wide in "The Real Olsson", any self-respecting manager would have our best players playing, regardless of transfer desires.

with the Diogo Rosado deal done and Rhodes almost done. Plus the Polish GK and Henrique almost done aswell. Plus maybe another signing or 2.

we need to be thinking of selling a couple of players like Nzonzi and Vukcevic. Plus maybe Formica.

Would think at least three of the following will be off: Orr, Dann, Givet, Olsson, Nzonzi & Goodwillie.

I think Goodwillie may end up on loan or on a cheap deal back up to Scotland

Nzonzi on loan

Orr to continue his lower league journeyman career somewhere else

On reflection, unless we've got the lad hidden away in a secret location with no access to a mobile or lap top, I can't for the life of me understand why we haven't got the medical done tonight and the deal signed sealed and delivered.

Announcing hes coming for a medical tomorrow is tantamount to issuing an open invitation to any Premier League Club to hijack the deal. The situation has all the potential to be Roy Kean revisited.

If however it goes through then I think it's an extremely brave statement of intent by the owners, we haven't spent really big money on an up and coming young player since forever - arguably Sutton and Shearer.

On the flip side I think the move does at the same time have limited risk. Prolific goalscorers are very very expensive indeed and even at 8m Rhodes probably represents the price of half a leg of some over-rated Carlos Kickabout from abroad.

If he performs in reasonable fashion at Ewood, he should hold his value extremely well at his age.

Edit: meant to post this in the Rhodes thread.

Wouldnt be at all upset to see the back of Goodwillie. Ditto Dann for any sort of reasonable fee and hopefully Stoke can be persuaded to part with a reasonably large chunk of cash for Nzonzi to offset the cost of bringing Rhodes in.

Two words Rev - John O'Mara. Came for a big fee, wanted by others, a complete flop and two years later given a free. I'm not saying Rhodes will be the same but it's a big fee for a lad who has yet to perform at this level. Hopefully, he'll be a success but I'll wait until later in the season before I pass judgement on whether it is a good investment or not. It's obvious that the owners are banking on promotion this season and from the four games I've seen so far that is a huge gamble.

What?

Didn't we get the next Chris Smalling, Wayne Rooney and Gabriel Batistuta in the last few years? :-P
