A cup of beans Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 I'll believe it when I see Rhodes wearing or Holding up a Rovers shirt. Id rather have paid Kean off. While he stays the same problems remain.

AJW Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 £8m i have serious concerns on how this is being financed
Hekla Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Why are people worrying? We will/have made that back in transfer sales.
Majiball Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 http://www.lancashir..._Jordan_Rhodes/ And to think people say the Scottish are cheap. Too much for my liking. People saying we need pace out wide - I agree. However IF (IMO we won't) we got Rhodes then Kazim would offer that option and personally I think he'd excell there. We have pace out wide in "The Real Olsson", any self-respecting manager would have our best players playing, regardless of transfer desires.
SirLarsIII Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Now Andy Cryer (LT) is saying that a fee hasnt been agreed regarding Rhodes - and he is not confident a deal will be made :-(
SirLarsIII Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Andy Cryer has changed his mind: @CryerRovers: Ignore previous tweets. Rhodes will be in for medical tmrw as bid now accepted. Story on web in bit
Backroom DE. Posted August 29, 2012 Backroom Posted August 29, 2012 Ben, any chance of me taking you up on that £10?
SirLarsIII Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 And the Diogo Rosado deal has also been completed. 2 very good players to rovers.
promoted2001 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 £8m over 4 seasons apparently. Someones played football manager and just figured out how to spread out the transfer budget!
chaddyrovers Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 with the Diogo Rosado deal done and Rhodes almost done. Plus the Polish GK and Henrique almost done aswell. Plus maybe another signing or 2. we need to be thinking of selling a couple of players like Nzonzi and Vukcevic. Plus maybe Formica.
Mercer Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 with the Diogo Rosado deal done and Rhodes almost done. Plus the Polish GK and Henrique almost done aswell. Plus maybe another signing or 2. we need to be thinking of selling a couple of players like Nzonzi and Vukcevic. Plus maybe Formica. Would think at least three of the following will be off: Orr, Dann, Givet, Olsson, Nzonzi & Goodwillie.
Backroom Tom Posted August 29, 2012 Backroom Posted August 29, 2012 I think Goodwillie may end up on loan or on a cheap deal back up to Scotland Nzonzi on loan Orr to continue his lower league journeyman career somewhere else
92er Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Would think at least three of the following will be off: Orr, Dann, Givet, Olsson, Nzonzi & Goodwillie. Not that I'm a fan but why would they sell Orr?
RevidgeBlue Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 On reflection, unless we've got the lad hidden away in a secret location with no access to a mobile or lap top, I can't for the life of me understand why we haven't got the medical done tonight and the deal signed sealed and delivered. Announcing hes coming for a medical tomorrow is tantamount to issuing an open invitation to any Premier League Club to hijack the deal. The situation has all the potential to be Roy Kean revisited. If however it goes through then I think it's an extremely brave statement of intent by the owners, we haven't spent really big money on an up and coming young player since forever - arguably Sutton and Shearer. On the flip side I think the move does at the same time have limited risk. Prolific goalscorers are very very expensive indeed and even at 8m Rhodes probably represents the price of half a leg of some over-rated Carlos Kickabout from abroad. If he performs in reasonable fashion at Ewood, he should hold his value extremely well at his age. Edit: meant to post this in the Rhodes thread.
ada2020 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Not that I'm a fan but why would they sell Orr? Was wondering as much myself, he's one of keans fan club isn't he?

Wouldnt be at all upset to see the back of Goodwillie. Ditto Dann for any sort of reasonable fee and hopefully Stoke can be persuaded to part with a reasonably large chunk of cash for Nzonzi to offset the cost of bringing Rhodes in.

Came for a big fee, wanted by others, a complete flop and two years later given a free. I'm not saying Rhodes will be the same but it's a big fee for a lad who has yet to perform at this level. Hopefully, he'll be a success but I'll wait until later in the season before I pass judgement on whether it is a good investment or not. It's obvious that the owners are banking on promotion this season and from the four games I've seen so far that is a huge gamble.
Kelbo Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Was wondering as much myself, he's one of keans fan club isn't he? Thats what I thought, however others are saying that is not the case now!!
Salgado Is A Hero Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Thats what I thought, however others are saying that is not the case now!! Without giving names if you don't want to, who actually is then? Last time I heard it was only Orr and Lowe.
Pedro Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 Without letting the cat out of the bag is his name the same as Michael Jackson's now deceased pet rat? Seeing as this was lost on you Mercerman and you took offence, MJ's rat was called...Ben
Rainmaker Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 If however it goes through then I think it's an extremely brave statement of intent by the owners, we haven't spent really big money on an up and coming young player since forever - arguably Sutton and Shearer. What? Didn't we get the next Chris Smalling, Wayne Rooney and Gabriel Batistuta in the last few years? :-P
diziet2 Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Ben, any chance of me taking you up on that £10? lol, alas too late. I have already paid up and settled my debt.
dwayne cage Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 lol, alas too late. I have already paid up and settled my debt. Good lad Ben, nice to see you was true to your word. Glad also to see the money go to a good charity.
