Kelbo Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) We already know that he and Murphy can form a good partnership in central midfield. Very good signing if it comes off. Partnerships in midfield are most important, like strikers and Central defenders, you work together, over the years, Metcalfe/Parkes, Tugay/Savage, Sherwood/Atko etc were great instances of this!! Trying to remember who played in centre mid with Kendall, McKenzie was in a more advanced role I think? Help!! Edited August 3, 2012 by Kelbo Quote

alderson777 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Very estabilished Premier League footballer, would be happy with him in the Prem. For the Championship i think he is more than good enough.... Quote
rovers11 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Absolutely perfect signing if it comes off. The missing piece of the jigsaw in midfield. He breaks up the play, can put his foot in and very disciplined in his role protecting the back four. Very impressed. Quote

dwayne cage Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I agree with Patrick. Etuhuu also knows how to tackle unlike any of our midfield last season. Was like watching The Benny Hill Show most of the time. Quote
Guest Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Solid and a better footballer than he's given credit for. Who is identifying targets this summer because they're a lot better than the tripe signed last summer? This particular one is down to Danny Murphy putting pressure on Kean and Shebby. After a couple of friendlies, he's convinced that Etuhu would be a perfect fit. Quote
davulsukur Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Danny Murphy is picking his own CM partner? Better than Kean picking it i suppose. Quote
A cup of beans Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Kean had long left fulham before they signed Etuhu. There is no link as far as I am aware Hold my hands up on that. Good to see Kean attracting players! Absolutely perfect signing if it comes off. The missing piece of the jigsaw in midfield. He breaks up the play, can put his foot in and very disciplined in his role protecting the back four. Very impressed. High praise. Lets hope Dickson plays to your expectations. Quote
LDRover Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) Why do we need this bloke when we've just signed the new Gattusso? Edited August 3, 2012 by LDRover Quote
davulsukur Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Because the comparison was made by Kean. Quote
LDRover Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Are you saying that wee Stevie has been economical with the truth? Quote
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Speight is the kind of player we could use now!! forgotten about him!! Be good for free kicks :-) I thought he joined after promotion - though could be getting dates muddled. Also was Parkes not playing - before he broke his leg towards end.of season ? Quote
mjs Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Sorry but Etuhu is an abysmal footballer. Use of the ball is terrible. Havent seen much of him recently but thought his use of the ball was very good at preston Quote
patrickvalery Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 As long as he can break up the opposition play and pass ten yards to another Rovers player, then he'll do for me. I'm afraid the team has declined so far that we're in the same position as when Hughes signed Mokoena. We need to tighten up our back line and having someone sitting in front of them with the sole intention of winning the ball back will be crucial. It was bloody well crucial last year too. The results of not addressing that are painfully obvious. Quote
Salgado Is A Hero Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 His use of the ball wasn't outstanding in the Premier League but he worked well with Murphy who was always good at finding space to receive a pass....if he's good enough for the Prem, he's good enough for the C'ship. Anyway he is a defensive midfielder so I'm more concerned with whether or not he can put a tackle in.....as long as he isn't absolutely terrible at passing which Etuhu is not. Quote

sharpysharps Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I'm fairly sure Etuhu will fit in with the championship quite well, i'm just glad that it was identified we needed another central midfielder. Etuhu alongside a defender like Aaron Hughes and then the potential arrival of atleast 1 more striker would be very pleasing. Quote
Mullionvagrant Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 (edited) passed rovers medical (BBC lancs + Glen's twitter)-looks like this one is happening Edited August 3, 2012 by Mullionvagrant Quote
FulFan Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Popping back since you are after another of our players! Etuhu was excellent next to Murphy whilst he was here and was a regular until this season. He often split opinions (no doubt you will have the 'he only makes 5 yard passes to Murphy argument on here soon enough) but he was part of Fulham's most successful team and was a crucial defensive player under Hodgson on our run to the Europa League final. He is easily a Prem player so him and Murphy should boss the midfield in the championship. Quite a squad you are building here guys, looks like we might see you back in the Prem sooner than most thought (maybe with Murphy as manager!) Quote
RailwayRover Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 bear in mind guys, that the pairing of murphy and etuhu were integral to the success that fulham had in the europa league a two (?) years ago i think this could be a very good piece of business Quote
Clitherover Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 He often split opinions (no doubt you will have the 'he only makes 5 yard passes to Murphy argument on here soon enough) Will be a change from Stephen 'he only passes backwards' Nzonzi. Quote
